Crop And Save
Nothing fancy! Just some good ol' fashioned ass-kickin. Who would of thought Bob Odenkirk could pull of playing a total badass. He was great in this. Definitely a film I'd recommend. 7 stars.
The Marksman (2021)
This has to be the worst Liam Neeson action film out there. The way it was shot reminded me of a low budget Hallmark movie. Not a film I'd recommend paying for. Unfortunately this is just another basic 5 star film.
Her Name Was Jo (2020)
After watching the trailer I thought this film had the potential to be great. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. The shaky camera movements and what sounded like the same song playing on repeat every five minutes became intolerable. Felt like I was watching a music video. After about an hour in I had to turn it off. 4 stars.
A few things didn't add up. One of the things that bothered me was the drug raid towards the end. Instead of the undercover agent wearing a wire, they send in another agent to stand right outside and do sound surveillance. He accidentally trips making a noise and blows the whole bust. The main drug trafficker (mother) had his henchmen all around the abandoned factory. Knowing that why risk everything by sending an agent to do sound surveillance literally feet away from the buy. This was a huge operation, I feel that was extremely careless and wouldn't happen in real life. The second thing that didn't make sense was how easily Mother was found. If a private investigator could find him why couldn't the DEA? And why didn't Mother have more back up when he arrived to his plane? None of this added up. Either way, I still feel this movie was well done and worth checking out. 6 stars.
Chaos Walking (2021)
Hurry up and end
This movie sucks. It looks cool, but really drags at times. I'm a little over an hour in and it's starting to feel like torture. At this point I'm just watching because I want to see the preacher and the mayor die. Basic 5 star film.
Dawn of the Beast (2021)
I knew this film was going to be bad after watching the trailer. I still decided to give it a shot. I ended up turning it off after 15 minutes. 3 stars.
Work Of Art
This film was extremely graphic. It had a little bit of everything wrong with The United States. It had incest, child murder, nazi's, drugs, poverty, violence, robbery and crooked cops. They way it was put together was beautiful and brutal at the same time. I'm glad I finally decided to give this film a shot. Hats off to the writer/director. Definitely a film worth checking out. I highly recommend giving it a watch. 6 stars.
The Oak Room (2020)
Ending lost me
Despite the unexplained ending, the film was pretty solid. I liked the plot and it had some great acting. It had a very small cast and most of the movie was filmed inside of a bar. Proving that you don't need a huge budget and large cast to make a good movie. I just wished the ending was explained. There was no clarification on who Jimmy Thompson was or why he put a hit on the bartender. Leaving us lost in the end. Either way I still think this film is worth a watch. 6 stars.
You Belong to Me (2021)
After reading some of the reviews, I was expecting a total flop. The first 15 minutes dragged, but in the end this movie wasn't as bad as people are saying. Ya It was slow at times, but I wouldn't call it a waste of time. How can someone only give this film one star. It definitely wasn't that bad. It had a decent plot, good acting and I liked the twist in the end. Not a movie I'd watch again but it definitely deserves a better rating then 1 star.
Funny Face (2020)
What did I just watch
This movie had it's moments, but in the end, I was left with nothing. This film was pretty much pointless. Or if there was a point, it went right over my head. Cosmo Jarvis was great in this, but the movie itself goes nowhere. It felt like they were building up to something great but nothing happens. It had some good cinematography and acting but no concrete plot. Not a film I'd recommend. 5 stars.
The Toll (2020)
2nd half sucked
The film starts out well, then about 40 minutes in takes a detour. It started to get good, then right before your sold, it goes off track. The movie lost me after they entered the cabin. The movie goes downhill from that point. The director should of centered more on The Toll Man. He was great, but we only see him a few times. Too much of the focus was on the ex-boyfriend and mother characters. It wasn't a terrible film, it just became too cheesy for me. 5 stars.
The Block Island Sound (2020)
It was awesome to see Neville Archambault in a new movie. He was great in 13 & 14 Cameras. Unfortunately, he dies early in this film and we don't see much of him after. It would of been great if the director utilized him a little more. I thought this film was going to be better. It did have an an eerie vibe throughout the film. It just became too stagnant and bizarre to be
great. Unfortunately, not a film I'd recommend or watch again. 5 stars
Dark Web: Cicada 3301 (2021)
Not Bad Not Great
Entertaining for the first 45 minutes. The second half of the movie, not so much. It became a little strange and looked low budget, like they ran out of funding half way through filming. Nevertheless, the film wasn't bad. Not something I'd watch again but I wouldn't say it was a waste of time. 5 stars
Shookum Hills (2021)
Waste of time
The trailer wasn't bad but the movie sucked. If Will Patton wasn't in this film I never would of checked it out. All this movie consists of is people running around in the darkness. There was also no clear explanation on what the monsters were. And they never show you a clear shot of what they look like. All you get from whatever these creatures are is a bunch of annoying moaning & groaning. Movie was a waste of time. 4 stars
Coming 2 America (2021)
Coming 2 Zamunda
95% of this movie takes place in Zamunda and Eddie Murphy isn't the lead. It was cool to see some of original characters but this movie shouldn't have been made. Definitely not something I'd watch again. 5 stars
Silk Road (2021)
More to the story
I had never heard of Silk Road until this movie came out. I read up on the actual events and it looks like they left out a bunch of the story. Evidently Ross Ulbricht put out hits on at least six more people. Not to mention, a second agent was arrested, Shaun Bridges, who worked on the same task force and ran an even more lucrative scheme. Each were apparently unaware of the other's illegal activities. Both agents received fairly light sentences. Ulbricht, not so much. He received two life sentences, pretty harsh for someone convicted of a none violent crime. Somehow he still has access to a computer. He posts on Twitter quite frequently.
I Care a Lot (2020)
People truly hate this film
I'm cracking up reading some of these reviews. I can understand why people hate this film. I just don't think it deserves a 1 star rating. Compared to all the terrible films that just came out, I didn't think this was that bad. It was a decent film with good acting and storyline. Not something I'd watch again but not a bad film. 6 stars.
Paradise Cove (2021)
Waste of time
I probably should of watched the trailer before I put this on. I liked the concept but this movie sucked. Some of the acting and cinematography were terrible. I wouldn't recommend watching this film. 4 stars.
Willy's Wonderland (2021)
Chuck E. Cheese on Bath Salts
B-movie horror fans will love this film. It's Nicolas Cage running around slaughtering animatronic puppets. That's literally it. If that's your thing, give it a watch. If not, don't waste your time. 5 stars
Wrong Turn (2021)
The new take was straight out of left field. Like a lot of us, I would of preferred the original concept. You know, the one with the inbred cannibals. Either way, this film was a lot better then the 5 films that came after the original. Those were all pretty terrible. The main thing that disappointed me was the last 20 minutes. I would of liked to see the father break into The Foundations camp and start taking everyone out one by one. Then again, they would of had to cast someone a little more badass then Matthew Modine. Besides that, I did enjoy the film. It definitely had some great kill scenes and I did like the storyline. 6 stars.
Elisa Lam Documentary
The historical value behind Hotel Cicel goes way beyond Elisa Lam. It's unfortunate the main focus was built on her story. The most notable hotel manager told us 80 people died in the 10 years she was employed at the hotel. It would of been nice if the directing digged a little deep into her stories. Either way, I've always been fascinated with Elisa. Maybe that's why I didn't really learn anything new by watching this docu-series. They could of easily summarized everything up in one or two episodes. You can YouTube this story and basically get all the information you need. I think Elisa jumped into the water tank all by herself. She had no injuries and no hallucinogenic's in her system. She wasn't properly taking her medication and went crazy. Simple. It was still a good series, I just felt it was way too long and drawn-out. 6 stars.
The movie starts out ok then becomes lifeless. I turned it off a little over an hour in. About 30 minutes later I decided to give it another shot. Didn't work. I ended up turning it off again and then removed it from my watchlist. This might be Owen Wilson's worst film. This film had everything layed out. Fairly original story, great setting and A-List actors. Unfortunately, the editing and writing become boring and unimaginative. It's a basic 5 star film.
Nevermind all the thumbs down on the positive reviews. Did these people actually watch the film or are they Timberlake haters? Nevertheless, I thought the movie was pretty good. Definitely a heartwarming story. Great to see JT back in the movies again. Give it a watch. 7 stars
The Little Things (2021)
Easy watch with solid acting, plot and cinematography. The film was slow paced but suspenseful at the same time. Based on Jared Leno's performance alone should give you more then enough reason to give this film a shot. 7 stars
No Man's Land (2020)
Why did Jackson run
His father was just stabbed by someone trespassing on their land. In addition they were also trying to take his gun. If he would of owned up to it in the beginning, he would of easily beaten the charges with self-defense. Instead he runs away risking his life as well as ruining his chance of playing major league baseball. Despite the nonsensical plot the movie had some great cinematography and decent acting. Plus we get to see George Lopez take a bullet in the end. 5 stars.
