Stumptown (2019)
Better than I thought it'd be...
A show with a bit of heart where interesting flawed characters abound! I think Cobie Smulders finally got a role she can sink her teeth into here. Best of luck to her character and the other misfits that populate this somewhat gritty, often sarcastic, little multi-layered gem. It's early days yet, but I look forward to seeing what they'll do next. The mixtape stuck in the Mustang's radio acts sort of like a musical narrator or commentary and just let's the writers have a little fun here and there.(sort of reminds me of Biff! and Pow! from the old 60's Batman TV series!) I hope Donal Logue's character becomes a full time or often revisited mentor/partner character, as well as an example of what not to become at times, for Dexedrine! The character flaws are what makes this work so well, and the interactions between Cobie and Donal were very often hilarious. The folks writing this have created a wonderful playground and they can take this show in quite a few different directions with the cast of characters and flaws they've imbued them with and still stay on a main track as they move forward. Looking forward to it, possibly more than any other new show I've seen so far this season.
