  • FORK-IN-THE-EYE...ICE PICK-IN-THE-EAR...PAINFUL...DISASTROUS BEHIND-THE-SCENES PRODUCTION...SCAMS & SHAMS

Jerky, Jumpy, and Jarring this Infamous Candidate for the "Worst Movie Ever", Not Only is Awful in Almost All of the Basics of Movie-Making, but there Unreels a "Double-Whammy"...

What is On-Screen is an Onslaught of Annoying, Hard-to-Take Visual and Audio Assault on the Senses...

The Creature's Head-Movements Bob and Sway so Much, so Often, it can Cause Dizziness in Sensitive Viewers.

Om the Soundtrack is an Ear-Drum-Piercing Pentration of Shrill Effects, Sharp Organ Chords, and Assorted Recordings of God-Knows-What. They even Manage to Insert a Crying Baby, who gets His Temp-Taken, You-Know-Where.

There is an Elongated "Twist" Dance-Party that Showcases, Front and Center, a Middle-Aged, Slightly Over-Weight, Woman who Dials the Dance Up to 11, and Let's-Loose Her Best "Sexy-Moves" that are quite Embarrassing.

Speaking of Sexy, the Makers of this Movie Ogles "Petting", with Many Scenes for Your "Grind-House" Pleasure.

One Thing Notable that is Not a Bad-thing Per se. Some "Gore" Shows Up that was still Pretty-Rare in the Early 60's. Herschel Gordon Lewis was in the Process of Creating the Genre Simultaneously, with "Blood Feast (1963).

This is a Rough-Watch and the Behind-the-Scenes History is Bizarre, Suspect, All Over the Place,

and is Fodder for the "Bad-Movie" Community to Rehash and Pontificate about the Skullduggery that Occurred. You can Find that Stuff if You Search.

This Style could be Called the "Sand-Paper-Cheese-Grater"...Compared to Ed Wood's "Silk & Satin"

  • RED SCARE/MENACE BEGINS IN EARNEST IN HOLLYWOOD...LOW-KEY MATTER-OF-FACT...TRUE STORY

Often Labeled with the Derogatory Pejorative "Propaganda" this Seminal, Sincere Beginning of "The Movies" Commenting on, the Emerging Threat of Communism.

It Became Apparent After the Crucial Dismantling and Separation of the Formidable and Definite Alliance with "The Soviet Union" Following the End of WWII.

It was at the Time a Necessary Capitulation and in Retrospect the USA-USSR Allegiance Accomplished the Mission and Goal at the Time.

After Germany and Japan Surrendered, it was No-More than a Heart-Beat when the World Discovered that although the "Fascist" were Annihilated, there was a New "Enemy" on the Front-Lines Called......

Communism, and it must be Eliminated, or at the Very-Least "Contained" or the "Dominoes Would Fall" that Could Lead to the End of Democracy and America (doubtful but that was the Mind-Set and Battle-Cry for 2 decades).

So the Evil Unwritten but True Scenario of the Every 20 Year Cycle of America at War (a new generation of soldiers) Continued Like Clock-Work...The "Cold War" had Begun.

The Old Work-Horse Director William Wellman Forgoes any Pomp or anything that Might Distract from the Urgency of Stopping the Momentum of the Expanding "Super-Power",

Wellman Presents the True-Story of Soviet Defector Igor Gouzenko (Dana Andrews) with His Wife (Gene Tierney), Straight, Sombre, and Situated in Bare-Bones Realistic Rooms Populated by the Soviets in Canada with Nefarious Ideas Meant to Overwhelm, with Clandestine Operations of Stealth and "Snake in the Grass" Villainy.

The Film Contains Virtually No-Style that Takes on a Cinema-Verity Tone, although the very Deeds Cooking by the Devoted "Chefs" from the Kitchen of the "Red Menace" give the Impression of a Slanted-Take on the Proceedings.

But is a Practically Accurate Account of the Real-Life Events. It's Bleak, Unsettling, and to the Point. Unmasking the Scenario Leading Up to the Defection that Became Headline-News and Shook-Up Governments Around the World. Especially Canada and America.

Igor Gouzenko Lived Out His Life Incognito, Never Showing His Face in Public, but Continued Making Appearances and Writing 2 Books about His Life as a Soviet-Cypher who Knew that the Country was Up to No Good,

and that He and His Family would be Much Better-Off Living as a Self-Exiled and "Wanted Man" Apart from Russia and Took Steps, with Obvious Peril, to Expose the Corruption and Totalitarianism of the USSR for His and the World's Benefit.

Note...Winston Churchill coined the phrase "The Iron Curtain".

  • "PADDINGTON IN PERU" #3 IN FRANCHISE..."FISH-OUT-OF-WATER" TEMPLATE MORPHS INTO "FISH-BACK-IN-WATER"...MAYBE TOO SOON?

Not to let a blade-of-grass grow under the paw of the World's Most Polite Positive Reinforcement that Not All of Life "Sucks", the Film-Makers of the "Paddington-Franchise" Decided to take the Bear Back from the "City" and Return Him to His Place of Birth...The Titular "Peru".

As Everyone Knows Who is Over the Age of 5, Most of the Charm in the Type is the Awkward Slapstick Navigation that Results from, You Know, "Fish-out-of-Water".

So these "Geniuses" of Pop-Culture-Magic, couldn't get through a "Trilogy" without Abandoning the Ship that Made "Paddington 1&2" (and the Books where he "Really" came from) the Mega-Mainstream Hit with a Surprising new "Super-Star", and Rush Him Back to the Jungle.

    We're Off to See that Old-Work-Horse "Eldorado", that "Lost-City-Of-Gold", because that's a "Fresh-Idea"...Not.

Anyway, Despite that Handicap Upfront, Paddington is too Charming, Enduring, Likeable and Resonant a Role-Model to to let That Get in His Way of Handling Life.

It's What Makes Him so Adorable and Capable of Bringing the Youngsters (and surprisingly Adult) Fans on His Journeys of Discovery.

The Paddington Stories are Favorable, Enriching Tales, even if Mishandled Movie Decisions Obstruct the Course.

Paddington will Survive the Back-and-Forth of Financial Concerns, Focus-Group Findings, and Other Misdeeds.

Because the Paddington Persona is Greater than the Average Bear...and surely Greater than the Humans in Charge.

"Paddington in Peru"...not the Greatest in the Franchise so Far, but Deserves a Place in the Ongoing Saga of the Only Bear Named After a "Train Station".
