Designs are great, the show? not so much
1 March 2022
A design and build competition with popular video star house flippers as contestants.. I enjoy home decor shows especially when they also teach, giving tricks, hacks and building skill lessons, this program is NOT one of those shows... It's more of an advertisement for all the designers in their competition.. The directer of photography drives me crazy with constant zooming in, whether zooming straight in or from the sky down to the subject being videoed, the picture is almost constantly moving around and I get sea sick after awhile... it's distracting, I'd rather just focus on the rooms being designed and built.. Also, while I do like almost all the contestants, Ty Pennington can jump in a lake,, again, I'd just rather be talked to than constantly poked with over the top cheerleading positivity.. For me, I watch this show but it's because I love home design and construction, not the advertising aspect of their presentation... just me...........

Yuck,, I so dislike Natalie Dormer,, she'll probably get an Emmy for this show but it's just irritating me bad. (and did you see how badly she dances? She could barely do a jitterbug) I'm done with the 3rd episode and no more for me, I'm not gonna continue watching how they slaughter history for the sake of this bad script, bad history, bad costumes (how do they dare dress down the zoot suit?), and Natalie Dormer's horrible accents.. I feel so sorry for Nathan Lane, a great actor stuck with acting like Sam Spade; a 50s character, or a G-man straight outta 60s television.. The direction the director takes, stinks......... We're again stuck watching a program created by a bunch of people ignorant of history, who interpret it through what they've seen on tv growing up in the 80s or 90s..

wowzers, terrifying crime show
1 December 2019
Wow, this is one of the best true crime shows.. I had to marathon watch since it's only 4 episodes. It's about one of the most prolific serial rapist/murderers that has stalked California since the 70s through to just several years ago.. Well produced and interestingly put together,, real life events end up being thrilling scripts to follow........ and the creepazoid is still at large.. You like crime shows? This one is terrifying and horrific.. and it's still not solved..

I usually don't like war vids,
10 June 2019
But add a zombie god and I'm hooked.

It's short sci-fi Twilight Zone-like creature feature and gives lots to think about, especially the ending..

Excellent production,, well written and a well done video..

EXCELLENT DOCUMENTARY
10 November 2018
I watch documentaries and this one is really powerful.. PBS's; Independent Lens, is one of the better resources for good docs anyway and this one does a great job covering First People's history and the healing being done within their communities.. Intelligent and insightful, it tells a story of struggle and destruction to their family structure, through laws meant for redefining an entire people.

terrible with lower case puke...
1 January 2018
Holy cow did I hate this show,, alcoholic father normalizing neglecting kids, giving them drugs and alcohol,,, teen girls giving blow jobs in front of her mom,,, sick stupid, rape culture and horrible... Look, I'm streetwise and this show shows outright child abuse as if it's funny.. I repeat, I hated this show...

surprisingly good (after reading reviews)
4 August 2017
I think this is well written and I love Molly's character, well played by Brittany Allen. I give it a ten cuz it fits all of my requirements for a movie I'd watch twice and recommend to friends..

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I really enjoyed it and I could relate; watching a woman go through her own stupid mistakes to come out strong at the end.. kicken ass..

Zombies are well placed throughout the plot and the director did great at building tension and comedy relief..

Loved the music, it was a bonus and fit the action.

I think if you like odd zombie movies like Wasting Away, He's Still Dead but He's Getting Warmer and even Undead or Alive, this one is worth watching,, you might not give it a ten like me but I think you'll enjoy.

Woman's survival movie
7 December 2015
I liked this movie a lot.. I love Civil war movies and this one is different from most as it's about the women..

It's the ending of the Civil war, a violent time to be outside of Atlanta just before being burned.. Three women struggling to survive on the left overs of a depleted countryside, get caught in the violence of two insane soldiers.

Most important is the way the women overcome ..

This is an intelligent and insightful script, written by Julia Hart.. The plot builds in momentum fairly fast but if you're looking for a man's fight and/or special effects,, this isn't that movie.. It's about strength in the face of fear and making choices that will save all three of their lives..

There's violence and exploitation but the director did not exploit our actresses and I'm really glad that, for once, the actress isn't demanded to strip during a rape scene.. (creating a double abuse,, I hate those directors that do that).. If you liked the pace of The Missing with Kate Blanchett or The Claim with Milla Jovovich, it's similar enough that you'd like this..

I gave it a 10
13 February 2015
Simple effects, budget, writing, acting, and it all works..

The characters are confusing which adds to the appeal.. There are a couple of intense scenes that are well worked out and set the mood and plot.. You are never quite sure which way anyone is going to go so it adds suspense..

Honestly, it reminded me of low budget 50s films but where 50s films worked because they were schlocky, this one uses the schlocky as part of everyone's hallucinations and makes it interesting..

It's not your everyday zombie movie, our heroine is a teen but I don't think it's just for teens.. It's that odd movie that few will see but those that do will smile while remembering it.. (it is subtitled in English but there aren't that many words so not a lot of reading)

Thoroughly enjoyable thriller
30 October 2014
I was going to put this movie on as a background distraction while working but I found myself watching it instead..

I personally hate "stalker" films,(but love horror) and while I'm OK with blood and gore, I usually avoid movies like Saw......... This has a stalker plot and it has blood and gore(they used just enough so it's considered gore to me) BUT the few twists in the plot made for a great mystery and a great mystery sometimes relies on those key elements to round it out..

I loved that the plot had a couple major twists that kept me guessing, it's a "wait for it" kind of movie.. Just when you think you know what's happening, you get a twist..

I enjoyed it, it's a fun adult thriller..

ghost story without a ghost..
9 September 2014
I loved this mystery.. Dark and heartfelt terror fill the story..

Old fashioned ghost story without a ghost..

I'm a movie freak and this foreign flick fulfilled everything I enjoy.. The subtitles are easy and the story doesn't really need words anyway..

Simple and well acted but with a very squeamish subject; children and (Spanish War)torture..

The story splits between two worlds and I loved being led down the dark corridors of my imagination trying to suss out the riddle that's laid out from the beginning.. I'm sure to see this again just to watch the beauty hidden between the atrocities of war playing out.. If all you've known is suffering, beauty becomes a precious balance to cruelty.

If you can't stomach fingernails being pulled off, blood, the ripping of flesh, AND torture, it's the wrong movie for you.. And if you're looking for a movie like Saw and believe this is one of those movies, wrong again.. It's not for you.. It has a very Guiermo Del Toro feel to it but it has it's own unique attitude, I mean if you have sympathy for evil, this one will bring it out.. And like Del Toro's scripts, the guy you're afraid of through the whole thing will have you crying for him by the end..

violence
16 July 2014
The premise of the plot was what drew me in, it edges on conspiracy theories and I was thinking (half way in) maybe they'll redeem themselves and give us a good reason for the death and destruction people were plowing their way through..

The whole movie was killing, stabbing, slicing, screaming, dying, crying and then kill'en some more.. There are no special effects and I give credit to the actors, it had to have been a grueling movie to make but while I give one star for the actors in the movie showing up and acting their hearts out; the second star is for the director getting me to sit through the whole thing by giving us a strong hero to follow.. but that's the extent of my benevolence towards 13/13/13..

Seriously, except for a wince or two, I smiled through the whole movie..
29 June 2014
A simple documentary about the life of two penis donors and the curator of a phallus museum..

While the penis is presented as the main character in the movie, the director underplays the stereotype attached to penises and lets the viewer follow along, free to have our own reactions without prompting from theatrics..

It's a straight forward documentary and while there are a few exposed penises, it's not a sexual movie,, it's a peek into the psyche of men who love their penises..

I gave it an 8 rating because I found it interesting and as documentaries go, well done..

Enthralling..
22 June 2014
Written/directed by and playing herself, Sally Potter tells a woman's story of self expression while following her passions.. One of my all time favorite movies and sound track.. The music is hypnotic and the whole thing is visually entrancing.......... I mean, what's more fun than listening to Yo Yo Ma playing Tango on his cello while watching some of the best Tango dancers in the world as they glide across the screen?.. ..............And the plot is fun too..

It is a true, one woman's art film and if you're a lover of feeling romantic?

..........You may be dancing by the ending.. ENJOY....

Simple, creepy movie for younger teens
28 December 2013
I'm better at watching slow moving plots than most.. I did enjoy it but if you're horror movie experienced, looking for anything more than a college production, it's not for you.. The first 60 minutes, I kept thinking a commercial would liven it up but after that, I enjoyed the simple effects and the story got interesting.. I'm glad I know about the Amish culture or I might have been a bit lost..

I'd watch it with my religious old mother, and I believe it would scare a slumber party full of 12 year old girls..

The actress playing Amy did a fine job.. Chris Atkins (from Blue Lagoon fame who never really got good rolls after that) was very watchable and the rest of the crew held their own and were believable but it is a low budget film and it shows.. AND like I said, I liked it but not enough to watch it again and I love watching good movies twice..

Campy fun with a big ass spider..
15 December 2013
The plot was an old one BUT they did a great job of delivering up the gags with some fun comedic acting and cleverly disguised, old but funny lines... I enjoyed myself and this has become one of my new favorite campy movies.. Lomabardo Boyar (Jose, the sidekick) was hysterical and I found myself in big ass belly laughs almost every time he was on the screen. I've only seen him play serious roles before and was surprised at how good he is with comedy... If you're afraid of spiders, this one'll give you nightmares and the whole set up is incredibly creepy.. The next time I see a spider I just might jump a little higher after seeing this.. I saw someone else reviewing said there's not much gore but there is and it's the spider doing the slashing.. So worth the watch if you love creature features because the animation for the star of the show, the spider, was great..
