I am an American born Vietnamese, who's parents immigrated to the California in the late 70s, so the Vietnamese language for me came through household dialog and Vietnamese dubbed TVB series. I am so amazed by the vibrant a colorful dialogue of the dark underground society and open market. My family and their circle of family friends do not talk in such slang filled cynicism - it was awesome. It was so real and flavorful.
I grew up with the Hong Kong Young and Dangerous movies as my glimpse into Asian triads, and this by far trumps the HK movies. I felt so proud in a kinship kind of way. Thank you for the colorful dialog, whoever did the script.
That aside, the fight scenes were amazing. Two thumbs up and big toes too, to Kefi Abrikh for choreographing those (if he did them, that's what IMDB said was his role). Ngo Van did amazing on executing those fight scenes as. She was so cool.
That little girl was extremely cute and executed her impressive, spunky, yet still respectible lines very well.
I have so much more respect for the Vietnamese film industry after this movie.
