The Missing Sister (2019 TV Movie)

LOVE THE CAST!
23 July 2022
Any movie with Diora Baird and Rachele Brooke Smith would be great enough. Add in Katrina Begin, and it's a sure-fire home run. Three of my favorite Lifetime actresses in one movie? Sign me up!

Yet another old teenager
14 September 2020
Emily, the 18-year old, was portrayed by an actress, Alex Frnka, who was 29 at the time the movie was filmed. Lifetime movies are infamous for 20-somethings portraying teens, but 29 is a little old even for them.

Paul deserves your hatred
2 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
By the end of this movie, you will despise Paul. You will want to reach through the screen and beat him senseless.

Antonio Cupo ranks with Tilky Jones as actors who are great at playing scumbag Lotharios.

Great actresses
20 July 2020
I was overjoyed to see Christina Moore in a leading role. I loved her when during her guest appearances as Ross family matriarch Christina on Disney Channel's "Jessie (plus one on "Bunk'd").. Saxon Sharbino was great yet again. Just wish her younger sister, Brighton, would have played her sister in the movie, but Ella Frazee was fine nonetheless. Hope to see more of her.

I won't give away the plot. Watch it for yourself. I loved it.

More Kate Villanova PLEASE!
14 April 2020
Kate Villanova is a beautiful lady whose talents far outshine the outer layer. I hope she's cast in many, many, MANY more Lifetime movies!

Great message, but leads strain credulity.
2 April 2020
I enjoyed yet another strong performance by Laura Wiggins ("Starving In Suburbia", "The Cheating Pact", "Cradle Swapping"), and that of Nicky Whelan, whom I hope to be seeing in many more LIfetime prodcutions.

That said. Laura is only seven years younger than Nicky in real life. If Laura was the director's choice to play Maddie, then maybe someone older should have been selected to play Gwen. Nicky was great, don't get me wrong. But a little more age gap between mother and daughter, even if it is on-screen, would have been nice. Jennie Garth would have been a fine match (16 years older than Laura).

Same with if Nicky were the first choice to play Gwen. Someone in their 20s as Maddie would have been more appropriate. Peyton List from Disney Channel comes to mind.

Bottom line: great movie, just sometimes hard to forget two of the leads were much closer in age to being sisters than mother and daughter.

Doug and Elsa are bad parents
2 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have two huge questions.

Why the heck do Doug and Elsa allow Sam to have Zahid as a best friend and allow Casey to date Evan?

I would never want to be a friend to someone as lecherous and sexually obsessed as Zahid, and I certainly never, ever would want a child of mine to even know who the heck he is, much less be his friend. Zahid is a terrible influence on Sam. It is all Zahid's fault Julia can't be Sam's therapist anymore. Zahid suggested the chocolate covered strawberries. Zahid told Sam to profess how he feels to Julia. Sam HAD to know he could not cross the line with Julia, yet he listened to Zahid and look what happened.

Evan is a confirmed juvenile delinquent. He stole instruments. He should be in prison, not dating a 16-year old girl who has the chance to go to college on a track scholarship, He already convinced Casey to skip school, and that should have been that. Why did Doug and Elsa even let Casey continue to see Evan in any way, let alone be his girlfriend? It's a miracle Casey isn't pregnant, but I am expecting she will be expecting for season three.

I love watching this show. Jennifer Jason Leigh is a great actress, but that was established 37 years ago in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The rest of the main cast all portray their roles with realism and enthusiasm. However, Zahid and Evan simply anger me to no end.

Solid cast for a Lifetime flick
27 March 2019
I didn't have to go to IMDB to find out about many of the cast, unlike numerous Lifetime flicks. Immediately recognized Hayley Pullos (General Hosptial), Christel Khalil (The Young and the Restless), Lauren Koslow (Days of Our Lives) and Lilan Bowden (Andi Mack), the lovely and talented Haley Webb, and Lily Anne Harrison, daughter of two famous TV actors of the late 1970s/early 1980s, Gregory Harrison (Trapper John M.D.) and Randi Oakes (C*H*i*P*S). Definitely worth a watch for the name factor if nothing else; however, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

30 going on 18
19 September 2018
Abbie Cobb was 30 when the movie was filmed. Reminds me of Luke Perry, Gabrielle Carteris and Ian Zering playing teens on Beverly Hills, 90210 when they were already past 30.

Peyton List (the Disney Channel starlet) would have been perfect, considering she WAS 17 when the movie was filmed. A 20-something actress, and there are many of them starring in Lifetime movies, would have been more plausible.

The movie is pretty good, by the way.

Maureen and Charlie are an axis of evil!
25 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Maureen and Charlie are two of the most disgusting characters you will ever come across. They are so evil it will make your stomach turn. You will want to punch these two through your screen. Killing poor Sara and Jameson by cutting the brake line, getting Bob arrested on trumped-up charges, then treating Valerie worse than crap. It is revolting. It is sad to say there are people like this in the real world. Fortunately, Valerie has people who are willing to go all out to ensure her safety, and more important, the safety of the baby she is carrying.

Reach for that cancer stick, woman!
3 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Joanna runs over a little girl on a bicycle while reaching in her purse for CIGARETTES. Let me repeat: reaching for CIGARETTES.

That makes her a bad mother right there. Joanna is setting the WORST possible example for her children, and worse, she is endangering their health by sucking those nasty things.

Not only is she reaching for cancer sticks, she's doing so while driving on a winding, narrow road on a rainy day. No rational human being could be that stupid. Then again, this is a movie, and Joanna was not rational.

In my mind, cigarette smokers are hard-core drug addicts. But their actions will always harm others due to that vile second-hand smoke. As long as someone doesn't drive after drinking or drink to excess, it's not going to hurt anyone. Same with pot.

Can't feel sorry for someone who abuses his or her body by smoking, then is so addicted to nicotine that he or she cannot concentrate while driving on a narrow, winding road, especially in bad weather.

Monk: Mr. Monk and the Daredevil (2007)
Season 6, Episode 7
2/10
Bad. Very bad.
10 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
There are few Monk episodes, especially after Traylor Howard joined the cast as Natalie Teeger, that I truly dislike. "Mr. Monk and the Daredevil" is one of them.

Harold Crenshaw annoyed me. Really annoyed me. It seemed to me his purposes in life were to make Monk as miserable as possible and to suck up to Dr. Kroeger, and later, Dr. Bell. This episode took the former to a new level, which I thought wasn't possible after "Mr. Monk and the Election" in season 3. The latter was obvious in season 5's "Mr. Monk Gets a New Shrink".

I have to fast forward past this episode when watching the DVD collection. Sorry. Can't watch. Won't watch.

Emily grows up
28 August 2017
I was impressed by Emily Tennant when she finally received the opportunity to play an adult. I loved her portraying a teenager in such films as "Triple Dog", "Text to Kill" and "Driven Underground", and later "Daughter for Sale", which came out a few months after this one. Given the chance to play a character closer to her real-life age, Emily comes through with a strong, heartfelt performance.

We don't see enough of Poppy Montgomery these days. Of course she was great in "Without a Trace", and I thought highly of her performance in "Murder in the Hamptons", which has been shown on Lifetime networks quite a bit in the last 12 years. She was superb playing Angela, the titular surrogate who is mercilessly stalked by her creepy ex (Ty Olsson).

Great plot. Even greater performances by Ms. Tennant and Ms. Montgomery.

The Wrong House (2016 TV Movie)

Allison McAtee is awesome
26 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Allison McAtee is quite the talent. She alone makes "The Wrong House" worth watching.

I absolutely loved Allison in the independent film "Bloomington", where she portrays a college professor who has a torrid affair with a female student who was once a child acting star. So of course I was very excited to see her on screen again.

In "The Wrong House", Allison's character is the antagonist, but she is no less outstanding. Ms. McAtee shows she can portray just about any character written for her.

Nice to see Clare Kramer playing a grown-up role 16 years after playing a supporting turn as a cheerleader in the original "Bring It On". Ms. Kramer would have done well as the star if Kirsten Dunst and/or Eliza Dushku had said no.

Allison and Claire have quite the war over the hunky Tilky Jones. I can see why Allison's Kathleen Strickland was so hot for Tilky's Brian Lassiter.

As for Tilky, he gets paired up with some beautiful women. Watch this movie, as well as "Open Marriage" starring Tilky and ex- Playmate Nikki Leigh and you'll see.

Allison's talents make Sharon Stone the second greatest actress from northwest Pennsylvania. Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of Ms. McAtee. Maybe a "Basic Instinct" remake with Allison portraying Catherine Trammell...

Anna Gunn makes it all worth it
26 August 2017
I am convinced Anna Gunn is the best thing to ever come out of New Mexico. She is one of the most talented actresses to ever grace a television screen. Her range is phenomenal. She shows it in Secrets of Eden as Detective Catherine Benincasa.

Ms. Gunn is an enchantress who will enrapture you no matter if you're watching Breaking Bad or this TV movie. If you love Anna, you'd better watch Secrets of Eden.
