Into the Wild (2007)
They took sex out of the equation
I didn't realize that Sean Penn had directed this movie until after I watched it. This is by far the most well known movie he directed. It is a long movie but the cinematography is so good there's hardly a boring shot. Kristen Stewart steals the show whenever she's on screen. I wish Jena Malone had more screen time. She's mostly relegated to the role of a narrator. Watch out for the ending. I for one wasn't expecting it. The story of this movie proves nothing, there is no moral. The primary purpose of this movie which the movie makers accomplished was to keep the viewer glued to the screen and forget about their daily grind.
Million Dollar Arm (2014)
Baseball vs Cricket vs Javelin vs Field Hockey
Jon Hamm carries this movie on his shoulders. He excels in good guy roles. Bill Paxton, Alan Arkin and Lake Bell are splendid in their respective roles.
This is more of an 'Indian' movie and not an American or even a Baseball movie. The fact of the matter is, baseball is still not even properly televised, let alone made any kind of mark on the majority of sports lovers in India. It's 2021 now and cricket is still by far the dominant sport. When live baseball is shown on sports channels in India, most Indians are still in bed sleeping.
Sleepers (1996)
Worth watching
Now I can understand why Jason Patric didn't become a great star like his co-stars in this movie. It wasn't acting, only just delivering lines. To be fair to him, he was overshadowed by better talent. They should have given more screen time to the other characters, it would have elevated this film.
Brad Pitt as the assistant D. A. is surprisingly good. You don't normally expect him in this kind of role. All the actors look good in this movie, it was 1996 after all. The ending of the film is a bit unexpected but I think it was the right choice to end it that way.
