Corner Gas: Hurry Hard (2005)
Heavy Hard!
I really enjoyed this episode. Lots of good laughs, especially if you know the game of curling. (Curling is extremely popular in the prairie provinces). Some of the jokes may not stick if you don't know the game.
Make Emma mad and she will remove pretty much all opposition stones. Oscar had a good time getting under Emma's skin. Funny to watch Emma basically throwing the stones without really aiming and having no technique.....rather than finessing the stones on the sheet.
I laughed out loud when Lacey came up extremely light with one of shots, much to the chagrin of Wanda & Hank.
The company of actors is in fine form. Every character has some real funny lines. (Sometimes quite subtle). Well written and executed extremely well.
Three's Company: Critic's Choice (1982)
Jason DeFarge.....
Whenever pompous food critic Jason DeFarge introduces himself, it is extremely irritating for yours truly. (Actually he plays the part extremely well and does an excellent drunk).
Really this is not a review but as you can see by my rating I enjoyed the episode.
If I had to pick a male guest star that would be my personal favourite it would be Terry Kiser. He was in two fantastic episodes. (Dying To Meet You & A Friend In Need). Jeffery Tambor would be a close second. Two fantastic episodes (Two Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest & Jack Goes To The Dentist) but one below average episode (Father Of The Bride).
In Critic's Choice Louise Williams, who would be my favourite female guest star, is terrific as Chloe. She was fantastic in Season 4 in "A Camping We Will Go."
No real spoilers here but the guest stars are excellent here as well as "The Trio". Recommended,
Three's Company: Teacher's Pet (1981)
Sufferin Succotash
A quote from Janet while Jack is teaching a cooking class and delivering one corny joke after another.....to no laughter and many "eye-rolls" from the students. Funny stuff.
Enter Dean Travers niece Betty Jean......and she's extremely late for the class.
Dean Travers niece needs to get an "A" in Jack's cooking class to appease her uncle. It is apparent cooking in the kitchen is not her forte. She has other ideas of how to get an "A". Jack resists her advances as he know his goose is cooked if Dean "two girls" Travis finds out Jack even lays a finger on her.
Jack caters (no pun intended) to her in class, much to the chagrin of Janet who is eager & learning quickly.,
I won't spoil the ending but there are some excellent laughs at the end when Larry comes in to Dean Travers office to save the day.
When I originally saw the episode, I thought it was fine episode but nothing special. After a 2nd viewing I liked it more. Three's Company is a very re-watchable show. It's never been out of syndication since the end of the series in 1984.
I'd call this a sleeper episode.
The Simpsons: Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk (1991)
Burns Sells The Power Plant....
An excellent episode from Season 3. No question for me the highlight was Homer daydreaming about 'the land of chocolate.
......but after the new owners interview all the employees and complete their review of the plant there is a hilarious layoff announcement heard throughout the plant.
"Attention, workers: we have completed our evaluation of the plant. We regret to announce the following layoffs, which I will read in alphabetical order: Simpson, Homer. That is all."
Burns comes out a winner in the end. Not only does he buy back the power plant for a "most unfair" price of $50 million after selling it to Hans & Fritz for $100 million but he, of course, gets his position of power back as owner.
Excellent episode.
Three's Company: Alias Jack Tripper (1983)
Larry as Jack....
Lots of fun watching Larry copying Jack's mannerisms. Boy the look on Jack's face was priceless when he saw Anges Platt. (Of course, he assumed with a name like that......).
Miss Platt, Zack." - Larry introducing Agnes Platt to Jack (aka Zack). "Good evening, Miss Plattzack." - Jack, not yet realizing he's supposed to go by the name Zack.
Rita Wilson guest stars as Agnes Platt. A childhood friend of Janet.
