I went in with low, low, low expectations. The movie did not disappoint. At all. I enjoyed it. The dialogue and humour is fresh. FRESH! Sure, it had a few predictable moments but damn, they did an amazing job of tying it together. I'd watch it twice, maybe thrice for the songs.

Enjoyed it

It's a good binge watch option. Probably a one time watch since we know who and why who did it, but the acting and the mini suspense make it fun.
The make up on Shruti Hassan is overdone though. That bruise looked like it walked off a modelling ramp.

The Villainess

One of the best action movies I've ever watched
14 February 2022
I'm not exaggerating. The stunt team deserves an award. There didn't seem to be any easy fight scenes. The ones in traffic are very well planned and performed. Good story. Amazing action. Very different perspective. A must watch.
I'd watch a separate movie of just the fight scenes, back to back, if it were released.

Ouch!

The worst thing this movie is guilty of is a partially mislabeled genre, even though it has believable aspects of it well into the movie.
Amazing movie. Well made. I was at the edge of me seat till the very end. It doesn't waste time. The music is well planned too.

I love the show!

I've probably watched some episodes twice. It was that good! Highly recommended. It was more fun with the subtitles but the dubbed version is enjoyable too. Extremely well written. The actors make you forget this is fiction.

Never heard of it because the universe was doing you a favor

The concept is a smart one, like most others have commented, but the execution is "nails on a chalkboard". It hurts to watch the judges compliment performances because it seems forced and unnatural. Even the host can't fake enthusiasm, and he's a good actor.
The performances rarely have anything tying the music to the singer. Best described as "bad karaoke with drama".

Is it good? YES! Just another Hunger Games? NO!

Am I going to binge watch the entire series all over again, just for kicks? HELL YEAH! Excellent cast. They make you forget it's just a show.
It was fun. You go in expecting the regular teenage drama and it gives you exactly that, and then the flood gates of bonuses appear, and just keep on coming. There are predictable aspects in the series but there's also the joy of repeatedly being proven wrong with pleasant surprises. It's worth your time.

Begins on a low note, then throws you through the roof

Most of the movie makes you believe that you know who the culprit is but it isn't, and then it is, but more evidence proves it isn't, until suspicious behaviour casts a glance in the right direction that might also be wrong. That's the whole movie. It makes your brain run around chasing murderous butterflies and you enjoy every moment of it.
Well, for the most part. The song with Aamir Khan was just weird.

Il bosco

It's fun but pretty obvious
26 May 2021
There isn't much going on in terms of a thriller. The villains make no attempt to be less suspicious. The lead does the stereotypical damsel-waltzing-into-every-shady-situation dance, while nobody believes her. Overall, good entertainment for a binge weekend, but quite forgettable.
Solos
(2021)
A beautiful show if you've not decided what you want the show to be
25 May 2021
In a time where people are living inside holes, terrified of air, Solos hit many vulnerable spots. The episodes begin slow but the stories draw you in. I've enjoyed the series. I hope people give it a chance. It's no Black Mirror. That's probably the best part about it.

"What the hell" in a good way

It has you at the edge of your seat and there are moments when you know that something bad is arrive the corner, but you can't look away.
The barrage of negative reviews are from people in denial or straight up annoyed that the show ticked them off.

Lila & Eve
(2015)
A good story told in the best way
16 March 2021
No over the top action sequences, snappy dialogues, or heroes swooping down from above yet, it has its moments where you're holding your breath. A powerful story that doesn't best around the bush, focusing on the situation and a few aspects closest to it. Few incidents, strung together perfectly.
Unhinged

Good if you're rooting for the bad guy
6 March 2021
The bad guy is a jerk but every other character is unlikable in a relatable way. The main victim in the movie is so bad, she makes the villain look good in comparison. Root for the villain and you'll enjoy 90% of the movie.

The more I think about it, the worse the movie feels
20 September 2020
The movie is badly made. Big, bad virus and big, bad governments being big and bad. Society is also bad.
There isn't one positive moment in the movie. Everything is the journey of one low point in the lives of the characters, to the next lower point. This formula is repeated till you know that every change in scene is going to end in disappointment. It's a sad story told in a manner that neither makes you feel sad or angry or anything. Indigestion has invoked stronger feelings in me.
The actors are alright-ish. The dull blue and dark tint is obvious to the point where it seems intentional rather than capture the current mood or emotion of the moment. Music is good but nothing memorable. It fares the best by not sticking out like a sore thumb.

Bandish Bandits

Aims for clichés and hits most of them
8 August 2020
A predictable plot that revolves around the supposedly "opposite" worlds of music. The music is good but even a handful of seasoned actors cannot salvage a boring plot.
If it were a daily soap, it wouldn't last beyond the first few episodes. There isn't a single plot twist that can be called a twist at this point in the entertainment industry.
Most actors give it their best but some of the main performances are unnecessarily rigid while a few come across as disingenuous with their enthusiasm.
Hard pass.

Shakuntala Devi
(2020)
Poor excuse of a film
4 August 2020
Bollywood isn't expected to get woman empowerment right, but it keeps getting worse with every passing film.
The movie "Shakuntala Devi" is another excuse for Bollywood to take a dump on feminism and glorify motherhood and a patriarchal set-up. Extremely disappointing that Vidya Balan chose to go along for the ride.

Fantasy Island

It's an enjoyable movie
17 July 2020
Everyone knows and expects perfect fantasies to go awry, but how the stories unfold makes this movie worth a watch. I'm surprised more people haven't enjoyed the movie. Is it life changing? No. It's fun, has an interesting plot, good music and good actors.
