Boring!
5 July 2021
A few black people have been crowbarred in because this is 'new' Hollywood. So that's an annoying distraction.

I lost interest in this pretty quickly as it seemed to be an assembly of scenes of children being tortured. Hollywood people will like this aspect of the film.

Oh, god, this is just one, overlong, annoying mess.

The Trackers (1971 TV Movie)

Above average TV western.
4 July 2021
Aaron Spelling lends his gravitas to the ongoing love affair that the American TV audience has with their ridiculous motion of the historical wild west.

This rose-tinted fairytale is no different, except there's some fine talent in front of the camera.

Also, despite being half a century old, this movie has a level headed and mature approach to the issues of bigotry and racism.

But the story is really an excuse to explore the development of trust and friendship between two cowboys on the trail of some Indians heading to Mexico. Both Earnest Borgnine and Sammy Davis Jr. Both rise above the silly story to make this worth watching.

It's a masterpiece... or it stinks!
2 July 2021
A surprisingly polarizing Australian film about almost nothing except people, ordinary people!

My guess is that if you're under 30 it wasn't much fun, and if you're over 40 it was an absorbing, grown up drama.

It's not a thriller and there are no murders, despite what you may have read in other reviews... but there is an unexplained death... eventually!

This movie does require your attention. And that's a big ask when it's two hours long!

Exemplary performances elevate the experience.

If you're patient, older and enjoy the ordinary, you'll be rewarded.

Good cast. Silly film.

So unsubtle and unambiguous, this noisy mess could have been cartoon!

Silly screenplay tries to be hip and witty and it fails. There's an annoying sound effect for every computer movement.

I love the FBI surveillance software that can close in on blurry footage and create a crystal clear image! Why can't Power Director do this?

It's lazy filmmaking.

TV movie with Hollywood cast.
26 June 2021
Top notch acting talent elevates this TV movie.

It's a fantasy of the wild west much like The Virginian was over thirty years before this movie was made.

It's a predictable and unsubtle story. No amount of 'spoilers' would ruin it for you. But it's still worth your attention.

Absorbing, low key, television drama.

Your Honor (II) (2020–2023)

Absurd but still watchable.
16 June 2021
It moves along slowly... very slowly. The music is languid and spooky, the scenery is dark and shadowy and the narrative takes its own sweet time!

A young man accidently kills a motorcyclist and flees the scene. From then on, he and his father make a series of bloody stupid decisions to distance themselves from the crime, which makes you think that they actually want to get caught.

What follows is ten hours of watching two people dig their own graves!

Despite the ineptitude of the leads, there's enough residual content with subplots, etc, to keep your attention till the end.

It's, quite literally and metaphorically, like watching a car crash!

Noisy garbage!
11 June 2021
Good lord, what new hell is Hollywood planning for the post apocalyptic future after the Chinese virus? If this clichéd fairytale rubbish is an example, the answer is not looking good.

This is just a mosaic of car chases and explosions interspersed with child like dialogue from an old comic. An absolute disgrace to film making.

Silliness on a good budget!
2 June 2021
The lavish production and competent cast can't mask the absurdity of the plot. Also, it's just too wordy which allows down the narrative.

'Daryl Hannah' stars in a sci-fi movie made by legendary director Tommy Wissau and remastered so it looks and sounds like it was made in 1977!

When you add the running gag about how to open beer bottles, you have a movie masterpiece worthy of Smithsonian protection.

Or... this is just awful and I was high when I watched it!

Exceptional nostalgic example of a 1970s TV movie!
31 May 2021
Even the background music brings back awesome memories of my childhood. I was 13 in '73 and living in the UK, so we didn't get to see many of these at the time they were released. But American network TV movies were generally all produced and put together using the same recipe.

This particular example exceeds expectations because of the familiar cast and the above average teleplay.

Of course, this won't be of interest to anyone under fifty, but to me it was a treat to see this again on YouTube. Channel CCC.

Quickly gets annoying.
26 May 2021
A school swot decides to bang a life guard, but to win him over she has to get some experience of sex.

And that's the story, folks! A nerd stumbles from one terrible visual gag to another until the film ends.

Unlike Bridesmaids, which is funny gross, this is just gross gross!

The actress playing the lead is nice to look at and that's the single redeeming feature that kept me paying attention... but after a while even she gets too damn annoying to tolerate.

So bad it's good... again!

Read the most popular review on here by 'hitchcoc'. He sums up the movie perfectly and gives the movie 2 stars.

I agree with every word he wrote and gave it 7!

This movie is awful in every single way a movie can be awful. Yet, somehow I'm drawn back to it every few years. Nothing about this nonsense makes any sense. The acting is just appalling. But, despite all that, there's an endearing appeal to this 70 minuter that other terrible movies cannot lay claim to.

I enjoyed this flick for precisely the reasons that some people hated it!

'Shady Acres' provides a hint!
22 May 2021
In film school, when the 'chewing up the scenery' class comes up, this B movie is the feature presentation!

Four likeable, yet different characters traverse the country from East to West. They are all fairly aimless, but the general goal is to find the unseen treasure that Glenn Ford has sold his soul for... a ranch in Arizona.

Despite the terrible conditions, this somehow manages to maintain a high level of comedy and the travelers rarely complain. In fact, it's a lot of fun (mainly) and a rewarding way to spend time.

Dour, grey, slow and depressing!
21 May 2021
A lot of films and TV shows generate polarizing opinions, but the reviews on here seem to be on a personal level.

So, what's it all about really?

If you are interested in (or involved with) the story, then you'll have more patience with the long, drawn out scenes when nothing of value is happening. If you've just climbed aboard this drama to pass the time of day, then your resolution to see it through will probably be tested.

It's bleak, it's depressing and relentlessly dour. In the numerous outdoor scenes, there's no sunlight.

On the upside, there has been meticulous attention to detail and the drama doesn't get too annoying or sappy.

So, now you know what to expect!

Award for cringe screenplay!
15 May 2021
A few minutes in, it's clear the screenplay has been written by a fourteen year old boy with the world experience of a lifelong nun!

I would think that Angelina Jolie is doing this as a favour for someone, because clearly, this garbage will do nothing for her acting career.

Some cheap and noisy CGI effects, some father son dissonance, some big corporate naughtiness... all unoriginal, clichéd movie leftovers from the eighties.

Painful to watch and much more painful to listen to.

Old Man and ex-pilot about town has his wings clipped and ends up in the company of local lady baker.

Will he grow up and settle down? Will he cast aside the younger California candy for true love?

It's delightful fluff and shouldn't be examined too closely or too harshly.

Bill Shatner and the cast are a delight, the script works well, and the surroundings are comforting.

Not challenging, thankfully... just fun.

A Black Mirror fairy tale.
9 May 2021
A classy, porcelain beauty in a loveless marriage, a cab driver going nowhere... It's another take on Beauty and the Beast or Cinderella or any fairy tale with the added confusion of science fiction thrown in.

I'll have to watch it again one day as I was distracted by the overwhelming beauty of Brinna. Her elegant presence was too big for the confinement of a yellow cab.

The script and dialogue was excellent and natural, which is normally a nigh on impossible feat for a movie featuring two people in a car chatting for an hour and a half.

Of course, once you start rooting for the love angle, they have you hooked!

I enjoyed the fare!

Ghosts (2019–2023)

It's a remake of another rubbish program.
8 May 2021
Ghosts is a remake of The Ghosts of Motley Hall which was terrible kids TV from the 1970s.

But this new version has been dubbed down for todays adult audience.

Every stupid ghost joke is painfully played out.

A couple inherit a big house and move in. This annoys the ghosts and they react accordingly.

The husband is so mind numbingly stupid he thinks pot pourri is a bowl of food and eats some. Hilarious!

Every ghost is a noisy, annoying two dimensional clown. The running gag about a ghost jumping out the window is painfully played out over and over again until it makes your ears bleed.

This ridiculous nonsense should be registered as a crime against humanity.

Almost as awesome as 'The Room'... almost!
5 May 2021
This is a serious attempt at film making by people with absolutely no self awareness. It's a 'so bad it's brilliant' movie, so, invite your friends, stock up with beer and prepare to be underwhelmed!

Seriously, if you liked The Room (2003), you're going to love this movie for the exact same reasons.

The prodigal son returns home to see his father who has a science lab in his barn. They hate each other, but the son happily gets wired up to some dodgy machine for some sci-fi brain sucking experiment.

Oh, God, it's just horrible and I watched it all the way through to the end!

Crisis (I) (2021)

Clichéd, predictable, but watchable.
5 May 2021
Three different drug stories collide in this fast moving drama.

The excellent cast and the crisp editing make this watchable, but other things bring the movie down.

All the characters are two-dimensional. The story is predictable. Every trope from evil corporations to lone lawman are crowbarred in. Even the Eastern European drug thugs are a ridiculous cartoon.

The entire runtime is a relentless, two hour shouting match between angry goodies and baddies!

Despite this, I followed it through to the end... and thought meah!

Not great, but not bad.

Cartoon villains and a cheesy story.
3 May 2021
Despite that, the cast is strong and the story threads are interesting.

A judge returns to his old stomping ground to do some good, but he has secrets of his own.

A local reporter is on the scent! The bad guy owns a boxing gym! The local vicar is in it frock deep! Yup. There's nothing really new here but it's moderately captivating in an unchallenging way.

The photography is good, the manipulative music is annoying, but it's all nicely tied up in the end!

Not great, but not bad.

Top notch cast...
26 April 2021
Excellent players elevate this silliness.

Strange Report is a clear forerunner of the feted and much more widely recognised Avengers. The pretty girls, strong, charismatic leader and cartoon villains... The ingredients are there, but not the magic or the chemistry.

In this episode (the first) Maggie is kidnapped and the race is on to save her.

Good to see Ed Bishop (UFO) in an early role.

It has nostalgic value and watching the talented cast wrestle with the ludicrous story is good fun, too.

Excellent cast of red herrings!
12 February 2021
A fast moving mini-movie (61 minutes) attempts to solve the mystery of the poisoned wife. So many suspects, so little time! But enough time to cram in a few great cameo performances from some British legends. Joan Hickson is especially delightful practicing her 'Miss Marple' character. It's all a bit silly, and the finale is ridiculous, but I enjoyed it, nonetheless.

The budget shows!
11 February 2021
A terrible script which made me laugh out loud when I shouldn't! The acting doesn't help the cause because it's also pretty weak. At the half way point it actually does get farcical with a ridiculous scene of cartoon violence. Daniel Peacock is the only bright spot in the cast... but even he struggles with his daft role as a private investigator. Anyway, if you want a good laugh at other people's expense this may pass the time. I can think of better ways to spend this budget.
