Reviews
Unser täglich Brot (2005)
The Source
When I was watching this, I wished it may never end. It is because I was enjoying the show a lot. No commentary show with an almost detail view of the source of our food. The factories, the farms, the gardens, the fields, the workers, their transport, their daily meals, their habits during the work and most of all, the unseen views. Recommended for everyone. Mind it, it's violent in some scenes towards the end.
L'enfer (1994)
The Jealous Husband
A married couple with a baby boy, own a resort, guest house. The husband has a psychological pressure that his wife has affair with other persons. Thus he becomes jealous day by day. Things take an unexpected turn several times. But the wife always believe her husband is lovable. Whereas the husband believes his wife is unfaithful. Let's see, is his wife really unfaithful or does he become tolerable by the society.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
The Gozila
Over-hyped, that's why over-watched, otherwise a movie with a bad story, actually I didn't understand the whole story, my bad luck, a movie with a bad casting. The whole thing is, it's messed up. The title is misleading. It's not Godzilla vs Kong, it's Godzilla and Kong vs Gozila. Too many perfect cgi doesn't mean a perfect movie. Overall a bad experience.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986)
The Camcorder
The duo, Henry and Otis are killing one after one, and then from one of them, Otis killed and dumped by Henry. Except for Otis, all the killings are as open as the sky. In the process of killing serially, it seems as if there is no police in the world. It's a true story, 2 real-life serial killers are making fun of their killings openly but there is no police after them there is no investigation shown here. That's why I didn't like the way the movie has shown. In fine, there is no end, there is no life in this movie. Not recommended. Waste of time.
It could have been a very good example of a serial killer movie if the director shows us the very detail of Henry's life, it could have been longer to show the later life of him after he kills Otis. But the director shows only the killing without consequences,
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
The Motherbox
One of the most epic superhero movies in history. It can be compared with Avengers' last two part, Infinity War and Endgame. Long and fast paced action pack. Though it's length at the last half an hour seems to me a bit longer. Otherwise it deserves 9 but I rated it 8 because 8.2 is the perfect rating for this movie. It deserves a place in IMDb's Top 250.
100% recommended.
Honogurai mizu no soko kara (2002)
The Red Bag
So whoever reading this review already watched it. Because there is a sign of spoiler.
Promising start but failed to answers many questions like, when the girl visit their old home, it was cleaned and everything was there at their positions, no spider net, no dust, everything is quite neat and clean. How? When the mysterious girl and her mother disappeared, why their flat was empty and full of water? Whey their flat was not also same as before? When they both disappeared why there was no investigation to find them? Why no one lives in that house? I have never seen anyone without the caretaker sits all day in the entrance. Why the little girl never died and disappeared instead of her mother, whereas her head was taken by the ghost in bath tub? There are many other questions arose. These are in fact not questions, but plot holes.
Overall, it's an overrated horror movie.
I just liked the mood. I like Japanese horror movies a lot. That's all.
Amsterdamned (1988)
The Canals
An unknown serial killer, numerous canals, a policeman and the chase.
Very stylish and moody mystery-thriller.
Similar to Italian giallo/slasher.
Amsterdam, what a beautiful city. I'm in love with it.
Recommended.
Tulitikkutehtaan tyttö (1990)
The Rat Killer
This movie is for the people who want to be a director, a writer, a cameraman, an editor. That is, this movie is essential for the movie crews. 5 out of 5 for those sections. A true masterpiece.
A tale about true loneliness, one way life, boring life, and a tale about revenge.
A worker girl works in a match factory, whose life is full of dull days. She lives with an elderly couple whom she takes care as well. In her dull life, she expects love from a man who may love her truly. Thus she finds her true love but her fate betrays her. That love wasn't love from the other side.
Too little talks and long shots make the movie engaging.
100% Recommended.
The Hunt (2020)
The Pig
Honestly, I enjoyed the first half an hour most. Otherwise, one of the boring movies it is. Don't watch it with great expectation.
Running Scared (2006)
The Gun
A fast-paced thrilling ride to find the boy who has the particular gun and a twist.
A father, a member of a goon team, keeps a gun under his basement place where his son and his son's neighbor friend play together. They both watch the place where the guns are kept. Thus the neighbor boy, an unusual character, bring the gun with him. He fires the gun towards his abusive father then runs away and becomes untraceable. More than one group is searching the boy only for the gun. So many consequences happened and so many tragedies lead the movie towards and unexpected end.
Paul Walker is a true legend. He acts very very well. He is the life of this movie. The unusual boy is also did very well.
I didn't like the screenplay. The editing was superb. Overall 50% recommended.
3 Women (1977)
The Psychos
A movie full of psycho characters, unusual moments, a creepy background score, and psycho paintings.
A mysterious girl joins a company where she meets a woman whom she likes unusually extreme. Move to her apartment as a roommate where she introduced to some bizarre characters, including a pregnant woman whose habit is to paint unusual subjects all over the place. Thus the 2 women and the 3rd one, the pregnant woman encounter each other by the consequences. Where their personalities mixed up unusually.
One of the slowest movies I have ever seen in my life. Recommended for those who already watched so many movies now looking for other ones.
Mann (1999)
The Accident
A ship journey, a love story, a tragedy, finally a typical Bollywood one with too many coincidences. An adaption of the movie 'An Affair to Remember 1957'.
Full of good songs. A movie, in which all songs are very good.
A womanizer playboy encounters a woman on a ship journey. They both fall in love with each other with their caring behaviors. Whereas the woman was already engaged. Thus when the journey ends, they make a commitment to each other to meet in a place after 6 months. This is how they split. But fate has its own choice. Fate decides they will meet or not, or any tragedy or happy ending.
Manisha and Aamir Khan did very well. Anil Kapoor did very well but wasted. The direction, the script are not much promising, thus it gets lower ratings. Otherwise recommended only for the music. Udit Narayan at his best.
Anari (1993)
The Sister
This movie deserves more audience, more attention, more viewers, more ratings than it has. One of the best movies in Bollywood. In the story, performance, in view, in songs, every section of the movie is just incredible. Especially the songs. Udit Narayan nailed it. Alka Yagnik version of a child song, Sadhana is sung a beautiful nature song.
A royal family. Its three sons and their one and only sister, for whom they could sacrifice everything. A childish young man works in their house from his very childhood. in some consequences, the sister loved the young man who is their servant as well as very childish in nature. When the three brothers come to know the matter they insult the mother of that young man which incident makes the young man much violent.
The comedy between Johnny Lever and Luxmikant Berde is just incredible. One of the hilarious comedies in Bollywood.
Watch it to believe it.
This movie can be re-watch again and again.
100% recommended.
In Cold Blood (1967)
The Duo
Both of the duo, Dick and Perry, were criminals and were in jail. Be out on parole. Make a mission to rob a man who has a safe, they believe. The plan made in mind of Dick when he was in jail with his other jail mate. Whenever Dick and Perry are out on parole they complete their mission in cold blood. Thus, the whole police department is after them. And then, they finish their parole and got arrested for their previous crime. Did they find what they thought to be with the family they killed? Did they overcome their true crime from the police? What is the final consequence? To know, you have to watch this masterpiece cinema with no dull moment.
It seems to me, the cinematography and the photography are much ahead of their time. And obviously an underrated one. It deserves IMDb top 250.
Dick did great than Perry, where they made a great duo.
100% Recommended.
Seppuku (1962)
The Bamboo Sword
One of the greatest cinemas ever made in history. Every single part of this movie is perfect and without flaws. The movie is must-watch for every director, actor, writer, cinematographer, background scorers in the world.
A tight script at its best. Stunning visual. Perfect shots, perfect cinematography, perfect background score. Great acting. An example.
A man wants to suicide in a traditional way, which is called Hara-Kiri. This lead by a holy clan in the society. Before he starts his self-sacrifice, the leader of the clan aware of the last man who did Hara-Kiri just before him. Thus the man listens to the story of the man who comes earlier. Listening to the story he still determined to do the Hara-Kiri. When he requested his choice of the warrior who would behead him, all the three warriors are absent for their sickness. In this way, everyone waits for his decision and here he starts his story why he is here to do the Hara-Kiri. Things take an unexpected turn when his story ends.
All praise is less for this movie. Just watch it to believe it. Prepare for your time cause it's a bit slow in its dialogues and storytelling. But it is guaranteed, your time will be worth it.
100% RECOMMENDED.
Chase a Crooked Shadow (1958)
The Brother
The brother of a woman arrives at home while the woman denies him her brother. She repeatedly tells the police that her brother is dead. So how can he be her brother. Even his face is not match with her brother but the brother, the man has every prove that he must be her brother. A sinister incident must be unfolded.
One of the most intelligent plot. Richard Todd is an underrated actor. The car driving scene at the hill side was amazing. Amazing view and place where the house is situated. Top direction.
70% Recommended.
Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate (1998)
The Paying Guest
It's one of those movies which can be rewatched again and again and every time it's enjoyable. None other than Hrishikesh Mukherjee. One of the greatest directors in the history of Bollywood. His every movie is evergreen. About this movie, especially because it's the last film of his. Anand-Milind music plus the views, the scenery make the movie more enjoyable and unforgettable.\\A retired police officer, his wife, his daughter, his new paying guest, and some lovely and hilarious consequences.\\ Amrish Puri, Reema Lagoo, RIP. What a pair, what a performance. Anil Kapoor is one of the best comic actors in Bollywood, a multi talent. Juhi is okay. Anupam Kher is hilarious. Sajid Khan is an amateur. Overall 100% recommended.
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)
The Sisters
And it ruins my interest to watch it. Baby Jane is bad from her childhood where we see she shout her father for ice cream, whereas her elder sister Blanche never expect anything. By the way, it was their childhood. Now they are again child, since becoming too old in age is like becoming child again, am I right? The problem is, Baby Jane is too much violent whereas Blanche Hudson is too much polite, good, well behaved even she was served dead animals to at. How ridiculous! Ridiculous is not the Baby Jane's behavior, ridiculous is Blanche Hudson's react after every bad attempts of Baby Jane. As if the elder sisters too much caring for her younger sister even she wants to kill her and she knows it. How awful! It's not justice. The house is Blanches, she has the money and bank balance yet she lives like a Gandhi (Sorry Indians). The lady maid knows Baby Jane can even kill Blanche, despite knowing this she take the day off. The neighbor knows Baby Jane's behavior, despite she asks for her help to get the maid for her. Illogical consequences everywhere. Just my waste of time. Not my type of movie.
Yes, I liked Bette Davis, Baby Jane's performance, better than Joan Crawford, Blanche Hudson. However, Joan Crawford is a true masterpiece actress in Sudden Fear and Mildred Pierce.
The script and direction is just boring. So 1 star instead of high rating it could deserve.
Sunset Blvd. (1950)
The Comeback
This movie really very strange to me as I feel unusual discomfort in some moments. That feeling can be compared with inhumanity and human desire at the same time.
Norma Desmond is just not-comparable with anyone in this world. She acts like she is acting in the movie Psycho 2. Poor Joe Gillis is another actor who is also doing very very well. Max, the driver, cum housekeeper, cum... Let's leave it. You will see. And the environment. The indoor environment. What a marvelous set it was. One of the greatest sets in history.
A faded screenwriter, a faded actress, their career, the house, the relationships, the consequences.
One of the most unusual feeling movies I have ever experience.
The scenes, the ending will haunt me a long time I am understanding.
100% recommended.
Drishyam 2 (2021)
The Dead Body
Everyone knows how was part 1, how brilliant was part 1, how suspenseful was that. Now it is the time of part 2. This part surpassed its previous one. So think how brilliant is this one, how great is this one.
I couldn't wait for its Hindi version, or can't wait for Ajay Devgan's Hindi remake. Just watch it with the subtitles.
Mohanlal is a true artist. Nobody can compare with him, nobody. The director cum writer Jeethu Joseph is a true genius. And the story. The trio makes this part a true masterpiece.
The horrible experience of the first one never leaves the family of George Kutty. Everyone in his family even after six years suffers the bad experience. The investigation reopened and now let's see how far can go George Kutty to save his family. Either he can save or not.
The more I say anything, the more the story will reveal. Just watch it.
100%, 100% Recommended.
Umberto D. (1952)
The Train
An elderly man is struggling to live in his rental home, his few pennies which come from the govt. pension and selling his stuff, his admitting at the hospital with fake sickness, his caring neighbor, his rough landlord, his emotion, his loneliness, his poverty, his dog, the park, and the train.
One of the finest emotional roller-coasters. This can make anyone cry. Love for the dog. A really lovely dog.
Don't ignore it considering an old and b/w film. This one is a true masterpiece.
Recommended.
Mildred Pierce (1945)
The Daughter
Very underrated.
I've never seen this kind of unusual moments
Very unusual drama of a family, a mother, her daughter, her husband and the new husband.
A mother of two girls, her divorce with her husband, her dream to fill up all the dreams of her both daughters, her greedy elder daughter, her new relationship with a man while she was too eager and optimistic with running a new restaurant chain. And then some consequences of the moments dragged the situation towards a murder. Now we have to know, who is the real killer.
One of the greatest drama ever made.
Everyone, especially the mother did unbelievable performance. Yet I consider, Sudden Fear is her best role. By the way this one, Mildred Pierce, is her unforgettable role.
100% recommended.
Ascenseur pour l'échafaud (1958)
The Rope
Tit for tat
First of all, I would like to recommend everyone who is a movie lover, to watch this movie, anyone must enjoy the time. No dull moment. Suspenseful from the very beginning. The cinematography, photography I liked most. The tension in all over the movie. Just to say, it could have been netter. A very good experience but a little bit overrated.
An employee murders his boss and making it like a suicide, and run off with a woman who is waiting for him. But he left behind a clue and when he return to remove the clue he stuck at the elevator. In the meantime, a thief and his girlfriend steal his car with the key And some chain of events make the thing worse.
The consequences made for you, must follow you, that's it.
Enjoy.
D.O.A. (1949)
The Poison
Run Bigelow Run!!! I loved the first half very much and the last scene. Enjoyable in those parts, otherwise the rest part is passable. The hero did very very well. He can run a long way. Just run. Dead On Arrival. Recommended.
Kiss Me Deadly (1955)
The Girl
Overrated and what is it about? In the very first scene, a woman was running on the highway, when her running feet were showing, she was in the middle of the road, but when the camera shown that she was running at side of the road. I think it's a fault. And there were other faults as well. Otherwise, I didn't find this movie interesting at all. Pure commercial one.
