Fast X (2023)
8/10
Bigger, badder, better than F9
18 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The movie starts off with invincible super villain Cherlize Theron critically injured dying asking for help. That is how badass the villain of this movie is. Jason Momoa is the son of the Brazillian billioanaire druglord who was killed in Fast 5. The classic "cars pulling the bank vault" finale scene. Momao is out for revenge for his beloved dad.

With a $340 mil budget, this movie is spectauclar although I do not think it breaks new grounds. Mano a mano fights between Cherlize and Michelle Rodriguez, Hans and Statham etc fills the space between big action set pieces.

Brie Larson(Capt Marvel) and Alan Richtson(Jack Reacher series) replace Kurt Russell. They do not get along.

John Cena returns this time as a kind uncle to Dom's son. His protection of the boy is .... well....

I will say 1 main character dies...I won't say who....

And at the very end a surprise return of a main character.

And the SURPRISE return of another main character

This movies is going to make 1.2-1.5 Billion bucks at least.

It's sequel is gunning for 2B. It's like Infinity Wars and Endgame.

Ash vs Evil Dead (2015–2018)
10/10
The BEST thing Evil Dead fans can ask for.
4 May 2021
Is another season.

But seriously, this is better than a 2 hour Evil Dead 4 movie because it is 3 season.

The gore is truly over the top and sometimes even hard for me to stomach. Sometimes I can only watch 1 or 2 episodes at a time.

The humor is good but I don't want them to be too 'jokey'.

The great ZENA is a co star and a great character.

Lee Majors makes a GREAT appearance as Ash's dad in a funny and poignant episode that is all too brief and I really wish there's a lot more. Too brief and too sad. My favorite part of the series. And memorable episode to see a bit of Ash's backstory.

The FX are far better than Evil Dead 1 lol. Really great FX in this series.

Just a labor of love for everyone involved. Great writing, directing, production and everything else.

Thanks STARZ and Netflix.

Hilarious absurd silly Thai comedy with queer tones
9 May 2020
I watched this on Netflix with a Thai friend. There's a lot of language, cultural jokes that's best appreciated by Thais. And I think in a Thai movie theater it'll be a total funny riot. It was a box office hit.

A lot of the comedy is slapstick, low brow. But nevertheless it is fun. The actor's gayness, queerness are hilarious.

Real life Superstar model, face of LÓreal half-English Thai actress Araya Hargate plays two main characters and 2 cameos. She really plays her classy self and a hilarious low class street cook lookalike. Admirable is her commitment to make her fans laugh and she is completely fearless about her own image. She even has a cameo as a fish bowl massage girl and a toll collector.

Basic idea : Clumsy makeup artists sent a superstar model into the hospital and they have to find replacement for a commercial shot.

Check this movie out for relaxing silly fun. You just have to be very open minded and turn the brain off.

Very Slow, boring, unnecessary. Waste of time.
5 May 2020
Big Breaking Bad fan. Very disappointed. Could have been a 42 min episode instead of "A Breaking Bad Movie". A subpar 42 min episode. Nothing much happens. Don't waste your time. The TV series ended fine.

Schlocky but fun HK sci-fi action movie with Aaron Kwok
8 August 2010
I happened to catch this movie at the theater. This is a B movie. HK superstar pop singer-actor Aaron Kwok plays a not too bright good guy. The always dependable Colin Chou plays a bad guy (with a team of villains) who is an ace knife thrower. The always pretty Hsu Qi is a TV news reporter and the damsel in distress.

Aaron and Collin(and his buddies) went down a mine shaft and got infected with a bio weapon virus that turns them into super humans, sort of like the Hulk, just not that big. It is all rather cheesy. They fight Kung Fu (with wire-work).

Aaron Kwok made this silly movie rather enjoyable with his performance. There are two actors from China who plays a couple with special knowledge of these bio phenomenas from China who are there to investigate and assist and fight. These two bore the hell out of me. However Collin and Hsu Qi are both good in their roles.

This movie is worth a rental if you like schlocky stuff. Forget it if you're looking for anything even half serious. A lot of kids in the theater who enjoyed the movie, despite the comic book violence and gore.
