She's the Man (2006)
7/10
This is the kind of comedy Amanda Bynes should be doing
18 July 2006
It's hard enough being the nerdy new guy on campus without also being the new girl on campus, who has fallen for the coolest guy on campus, who is totally obsessed with the most beautiful girl on campus, who is "crushing" on the nerdy new guy on campus. That's just the beginning in this contemporary comedy inspired by Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night." The tagline basically explains what this movie is all about. Amanda Byens stars as Viola. A girl with good looks who is indeed a tomboy, and who loves to play soccer. But when the girls team gets cut off, she decides that she wants to prove that she is good enough. After her brother, Sebastian, played by James Kirk wants to go to London and sing his music, Viola decides to move into his school pretending to be him so she could focus on soccer. So Viola dresses up like her brother and obviously pretends to be him. She later meets her 3 roommates. The three of them think he (she) is loser, but later they soon find out that he can seem pretty cool. One of his (her) roommates is played by Channing Tatum and he plays Duke, the guy who likes Viola but really wants a girl named Olivia and thinks that he can get her if only Sebastian can help him get her. So many things happen in this movie which makes it seem like a "high school comedy" which they really aren't in high school.

I think that Amanda Bynes is very good. This is the kind of comedy she should be doing. She shouldn't be doing movies like "What A Girl Wants." I want to see her do some movies like this because she is really good. I grew up watching the hit TV show, "All That," which aired on Nickelodeon and featured Amanda in it and she always did good. So I feel that she should be doing more comedic roles. She's really good at them.

I felt that this was a funny movie. It may seem predictable because there are so many movies out there in which someone dresses up as the opposite sex and we all know what will happen. There is a girl who falls for a guy who is really a girl. But I liked the way this movie pulled it off. This movie is an underrated movie. I don't why some people missed out on this. It didn't do too well at the box office. A few critics bought it and liked it. I have to agree with them. This was a good movie. So this is why I am recommending it. I give it a 7.5/10.

The perfect family comedy
26 June 2006
The Bakers are back! Only this time, they're going head-to-head against another clan in the ultimate inter-family battle. Bigger movie, more laughs, loaded with action and lots of heart,re the hallmarks of the Baker's new adventure. Now the same family members are back and if they weren't back, this movie wouldn't have been the same. Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff, Piper Perabo and Tom Welling, along with the rest of the kids, are back for this hilarious sequel which I enjoyed. Tom (Martin)and his wife Kate (Hunt) decide that it's time to spend "quality time" as a family when they get good memories of when they were at a local lake. The family agrees and they all rent their "house" that they'd always been going to ever since they began going there. But as soon as they get there, Tom discovers that his arch-nemesis,Jimmy Murtaugh (Eugene Levy) is camping at the same lake with his family of 8 children and his newly bride,Sarina Murtaugh played by the gorgeous Carmen Elektra. Jimmy has always been jealous of Tom. Tom had everything, he had more children than him and he was a famous football coach. These two families try to make each other jealous of one another and they even compete in a family event.

I thought that this movie wasn't as good as the first Cheaper by the Dozen which opened on 2003. The first one, in my opinion is one of my favorite movies. I'll watch it whenever it's on or if I have the chance. I did like the sequel but not as much as I did the first. In my opinion this movie maybe funnier than the original. I was laughing at many scenes in this movie, and the first was a great family comedy but the sequel is the perfect family comedy of the holiday season 2005. This isn't a movie for only kids under the age of 12, anyone cans see this movie, it doesn't matter how old you are and that you only have to see movies that match your age. Anyone can see this movie, it is a great family film.

This movie couldn't have been the same if the children weren't the same as in the first. Like if the producers had to replace someone because the other character couldn't make it, the movie wouldn't be the same. Some of the character didn't have a bigger role than they did in the first and some of the character had bigger roles in this movie. One person I have to say is Sarah, who is played by Alyson Stoner. She was the main kid in the Baker family, which I thought was pretty cool.

So as I said, this is the perfect family comedy of the holiday season of 2005. Everyone can enjoy this movie if they just let it go on. Just watch the movie and you will enjoy this and it's a great way to bring laughs into the house. I give this a 7.5/10.

The Omen (2006)
7/10
The Omen has a good cast and is a crowd pleaser
21 June 2006
A young boy named Damien, the son of an American diplomat and his wife, lives unaware he is destined to become the Anti-Christ - until terrifying events reveal the terrifying truth. It stars Julia Stiles and Liev Schreiber as the parents for this disturbing child. This disturbing child is played by Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick, who is brand new in the movie industry. It basically starts off with Katharine (Stiles) in the hospital bed and Robert (Schreiber) getting the most horrifying news anyone can hear: his newborn baby just passed. For the sake of his wife, a priest introduces him to a baby and Katharine will never know if that is her baby or not. Robert is basically the only one who knows about this and doesn't want to say anything about it. Five years go on by and this is when Damien starts acting like a different kid and this is when Katharine feels like Damien isn't her child. She begins to have nightmares about him.

The famous scene is of course in this movie when Damien knocks his mother off the i don't know, 3rd floor? I didn't see the original movie but everyone saw the famous scene. In the original, Damien was riding this small Fisher Price bike and knocks his mother off. In this movie, it's more updated, he knocks her over with a Scooter which is more powerful to knock her over.

I think the cast was good. There were some good performances and this movie makes you hate many people and feel sorry for some. Julia Stiles gave a good performance. The young boy who played Damien only said about 10 words in this movie. I think that is a good idea. He needs to be scary and frightening and making him talk would kill that. So I thought that was a good idea not to make him talk.

So The Omen is a fun ride that makes you disturbed, freaked out and as I said, this is a fun movie. It's low on terror, I've seen scarier movies but then again, not every horror film has to be scary. So I would give this movie a 7.5/10.

Walk the Line (2005)
10/10
This is one amazing film with brilliant performances. I loved it.
20 June 2006
The story of the young Johnny Cash and his love affair with June Carter Cash come to life in Walk the Line. It stars Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon with the best female performance of the year-no doubt. This movie starts how Johnny Cash got to where he is at, one of the most recognizable artists in history. With his popular country music to the love of his life, June Carter. Johnny meets June at a local concert and I liked the way this movie shows us how they met. Johnny grew up listening to June's music and the way he began to look at her, he saw beauty. Johnny and his band later begin to tour with June and go out there and perform and do they're own shows. Johnny becomes one of the most famous musicians and his singles begin to rise on the billboard. But Johnny takes a wrong turn and begins to pop pills every now and then and his career and his love for June begins to fall apart. June later wouldn't look at him or talk to him. He later turns into a big mess.

I really loved this movie but this movie probably wouldn't be the same if the performances weren't there. Reese Witherspoon gave the best performance in this movie and I really think she is a real hot woman. After seeing all her other movies and seeing how she acts in this movie, she is brilliant. Joaquin Phoenix also gave a really powerful performance. I saw the horror film "Signs", in which he co-stars and it seemed like he was a different person in this film. This is one amazing film with brilliant performances. I loved it.

Since the Oscar winner "Ray" was released 2004 and this was released 2005, I may want to compare it. Although Ray was more depressing in some ways and powerful, Ray beats Johnny Cash but these two movies are both wonderful pieces of work. I am very happy that Reese Witherspoon won the Oscar for "Best Actress". She really deserved it.

I really loved this movie and I would wanna see it again. This was one of the best movies of 2005 and it is a wonderful piece of work. Everyone should see this movie. 10/10.

You get what you expect

Warning: Spoilers
In what may possibly be the final X-Men movie of the X-Men trilogy, a "cure" for mutancy threatens to alter the course of history. For the first time, mutants have a choice, keep their uniqueness, though it makes them look different or give up their powers and become human. The same cast returns for this trilogy, which won't be the same if they don't. This is the most simple X-Men movie with a simple plot. It's pretty easy to explain to someone who doesn't know about this movie. I did like the first two a lot, but this movie probably in my opinion isn't the best but it delivers a lot of action. I remember reading something a while ago. It has to do with the sexy Halle Berry and if she wanted to do this movie or not. She said her role for "Storm" had be bigger, better and sexier. She does have the second lead role in this film and it wouldn't be the same if she wasn't in it. This film wouldn't be the same if the whole cast wasn't in it.

Since this may possibly be the last X-Men movie, many wondered if they will all die. This is what I thought, and they don't die. But some of the mutants did get cured including Rouge. Some of the mutants died, including Cyclops, I had no idea that he would die because I never read the comics and I don't remember the cartoons.

One of the mutants who I thought should've been in this movie is Gambit. He's well known for his cards. I thought he was going to be in this movie since it was going to be the last one of the trilogy. But I feel that he could've been in this. Another mutant who joined the cast in this movie is The Beast. What I liked about it is that he doesn't fight in the beginning of the movie or in the middle but he does in the main fight at the end of the movie. Rebecca Romijn was looking sexy in this movie even playing Mystique, but in this movie she looses her powers and goes back to normal. I really did like this movie.

This movie is action packed and this could be the most fun you'll have this summer. I'd watch this movie again for the fun of it. The cast was great, the movie was off the chain. I would give it a great 8.5/10

A good surprise of a movie
4 June 2006
The Family Stone is a story about an annual gathering of a New England family. Before the holidays are done, relationships will unravel while new ones are formed, secrets will be revealed and the Stone family will come together through its capacity for love. This movie had some great characters. Sarah Jessica Parker,Rachael McAdams, Luke Wilson, Claire Danes, Dermot Mulroney and Diane Keaton. Each of them have their own story in this movie and this is what I really like about it. This family gathers around every year just in time for the holidays. Everett (Mulroney) is bringing his girlfriend Meredith (Parker) to his parents' house and he wants the rest of his family to meet her. The only person who really knows about her is Amy played by the upcoming star, Rachael McAdams. Amy doesn't like anything about Meredith, she always complains about everything she does. Meredith does feel nervous about meeting everyone but from the very start, she knew that no one liked her. She would so many embarrassing things that would make the family hate her even more.

I really like Rachael Mcadams, she's my favorite character in this movie. After seeing her in the thriller, "Red Eye" I knew that she will be getting better roles and doing better movies. I really liked her in this movie and I know that she will have a wonderful future.

I don't know why but this family reminded me of my uncles and aunts for some reason, I'm not sure. But this movie isn't really laugh out loud, it may make you snicker or laugh but not out loud. I just liked this movie for how it is. It has a special meaning to it and the ending made me like the movie even more.

I did like this movie. It's funny, has some drama and has a good story. So if there isn't a good movie for you to watch or rent, this maybe a good choice. If I had to give it a score out 10, then I would give it a 7.5 out of 10.

A good Urban Legend that would scare anyone. I found this movie quite fun
29 May 2006
A hundred miles away from the scene of a grizzly murder in small town American, Jill Johnson (Belle) settles in for a night of babysitting. With the children asleep and a beautiful home to relax in, she locks the door and sets the alarm. But when a series of eerie phone calls from a stranger says that she "check the children," Jill panics. Fear to terror when she has the calls traced. And what the police find turns the perfect babysitting job into a 16-year-old's worst nightmare. There aren't any other lead actors in this movie. Camilla Belle is the main star with a cute face. The day she arrives to babysit, she really has no idea what in the hell really awaits her.

If I were in a house like the one Jill was in. I would explore everything that is around. The fridge would be the first person I would looks at, but I'm a male and I don't babysit. But what I found funny was the size of the house. I was thinking, would the movie be the same if the house weren't so big? Anyone could get lost in that huge house, but this movie needed a house with a massive size.

Camilla Belle has a cute face, a perfect smile but it's like for a movie like this, the lead actress needs someone with experience. I found Camilla not that good. I don't know maybe she thought that this could be her breakthrough role. I do like her, she is a cute girl but someone to have a role in this movie has to be someone how is different to take it.

This movie wasn't scary. I also found this movie more like a "chick flick". I think the only reason this was released during the SuperBowl Weekend was that the guys stay home and watch the game and the girls go out to go see this. It also seems like a type of a movie when girls will enjoy more than guys. But I did like this movie but for how it is. Girls just like tog et scared or scream. This was just a pretty decent movie.

Maybe anyone could like this movie. There are many PG-13 horror films that never succeed. This was on its own level. So I kinda liked this movie. I give it a 7/10.

Dark Water (2005)
7/10
Not as scary as the trailer makes you think but it is a slightly good thriller
29 May 2006
Based on a film by the creators of the Japanese version of the "The Ring" comes this haunting, chilling, film about a young mother who won't stop anything and find out what is going on in the floor above and to save her daughter. Jennifer Connelly stars as Dhalia in this eerie thriller. Areil Gade co stars as Dhalia's daughter, known as Ceci. Dhalia is going through a hard time. She is going through a divorce settlement and her ex husband wants to keep her daughter. Now she wants to move on with her life and so she decides to move in an apartment with her daughter and start a new life. But once Dhalia starts noticing that there are leaks with a strange color she feels something isn't right. Now her daughter, Ceci begins to act like a different person. Dhalia wants to know what is going on and she won't stop until she finds out.

I really liked Jennifer Connelly's performance. I thought this was the right role for the film and that she played it right. Another person I want to talk about is Areil Gade. She is only about 8 years old I think and she is a bright, wonderful upcoming actress. She could be the next Dakota Fanning. If Areil begins to appear in any movies, she'll have a wonderful career.

Dark Water is from the Japenese writer of "The Ring" and "The Skeleton Key". All three movies have good lead actresses but I felt that Dark Water was better than The Skeleton Key but not as good as The Ring. This movie did leave my asking questions to myself but The Skeleton Key made me ask more. I did like this movie, but I wanted this to be a scarier movie. A lot of people missed out on this. It wasn't s big hit over the summer of release, but this was a pretty decent movie. I would give it a 7/10.

Seems like a movie that is made only because the original did BIG at the box office
25 May 2006
Martin Lawrence is back as the biggest and baddest Momma ever. This time, Lawrence transforms himself into Big Momma to stop a national security disaster. But saving the country is the least of Big Momma's problems, as he takes on his ultimate challenge and that is being nanny/housekeeper to the suspect's family. This is a good question that I was asking myself. Where was the real Big Momma? In the first film, she was in it, but in this movie she wasn't and I don't know why she wasn't in it. This seems like a movie that is only made because the original did big at the box office. Well let me talk about the plot of this movie before I get to how I feel about it. I also didn't really like the plot of this movie. For some reason I really loved the first movie, it was funnier and much better. This movie just didn't work for me.

There was just something wrong with this movie. It just didn't seem good for a reason. I like Martin Lawrence but his movies right now are getting bad and bad. His 05' summer failure movies Rebound was better than this, but it still wasn't that good. But one thing that I liked about this movie is that it brought back two of the original's characters. Sherri and Trent who play Malcolm's family members. But this movie did have a few laughs and some made me laugh out loud. I may see this movie possibly again, this was probably just an "alright, so what" movie.

If you do want to see a funny movie. I say the first movie was better than this one. It was funnier and better for a reason. But some may find this movie quite good to quite bad. I I would give this movie a 5/10.

Last Holiday (2006)
7/10
A fun and enjoyable movie
25 May 2006
Georgia Byrd (Queen Latifah) lives a small life but has big dreams. When this shy salesperson for a New Orleans retail outlet learns her days are numbered, she throws caution to the wind and embarks on a dream holiday vacation to a grand resort in Europe. LL Cool J also co-stars as one of Georgia's co worker, and he is also her "dream love interest". Georgia has many dreams. She wants to try every kind of dish that is available, she has big dreams of hooking up with her co worker and after bumping her head and finds out she has a kind of disease, she wants to have fun for her last 3 weeks living. After she finds out her days are numbered, it can be touching but here and there will be a few laughs.

Now if you do see the trailer for this movie, you obviously know this will be a predictable movie, and all you can say is that you get what you expect. But Queen Latifah delivers such a good performance and I really like her, she makes the movie better. If this movie had a different actress, this movie probably wouldn't be the same.I just really like her and I know she has a lot of other movies.

Last Holiday is a fun and an enjoyable movie. It's also a movie that I would like to see again. it was fun, enjoyable, touching and a feel free good movie. In my opinion, people missed out on this movie. I don't think it did well in theaters, but I think people know whats going to happen, but the way it happens isn't what you expect. But maybe people didn't wanna see it because they expected what will happen. I would wanna see this movie again.

So I am recommending this movie so that people can have fun. I really found this movie good. So I would give this a movie a 7.5/10

Hoodwinked! (2005)
8/10
Funny and good entertainment
21 May 2006
Hoodwinked is an updated, re-telling of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood." Now everyone thinks they know the story of Little Red Riding Hood, but this movie takes you deep into the movie, and this is why I really liked it. Anne Hathaway does the voice for Red, Glenn Close does the voice for Granny. Other voices are Xzibit and Anthony Anderson. I think this is one of the best animated movies I've seen in about 2 years.

This movie basically starts off with the classic story of "Little Red Riding Hood." But when the FBI arrive at the scene, each of the characters tell their own little story of what actually went down. I just thought this was such a cool movie with it's rules and clues. It's like a big puzzle you're trying to put together. It's also one of those animated movies that I would watch again. Before I saw this movie, I watched "Chicken Little" and I wasn't very happy with that movie, it was just weird. But this movie I thought was funny and it had great entertainment.

This isn't a movie for only the younger viewers. I know a lot of people will think this is a good movie. I liked how they went deep into the classic story. Really, I feel like watching this movie again. 8/10.

Underclassman (2005)
5/10
One of those movies that's either good and bad. This just falls in between.
13 May 2006
LA's youngest cop Tracey "Tre" Stokes (Cannon) is about to get his biggest assignment. He must go undercover&break up a dangerous crime ring rooted in a upscale prep school. The deeper Tre goes the more dangerous and volatile the situation becomes. Fighting both his personal demons and the forces determined to take him down, he must risk everything to catch the ones closest to him. Tre wants to follow in his father's footsteps. His father was an LA cop, in fact he was working in the same station Tre is working at. He's supposed to register as a student but yet go undercover. The sexy Roselyn Sanchez co stars as Tre's Spanish teacher. Now let me say how lucky he is to have her as a teacher. Also, the stunning Kelly Hu co stars as a cop.

Nick Cannon has made other films. Some better than the others. But the one with the best story and which was a great film was 2002's Drumline. When Love Don't Cost A thing came out in 2003, it wasn't that great of a movie. Nick Cannon chooses the right roles but the plot is not that great. Now, Underclassman may seem like it has a great story but it's one of the movies thats either good or bad, but it just falls in between. I odn't really know what to say about this movie. I laughed at a few scenes. But Nick Cannon can get pretty annoying as he jokes. One scene when he falls into the water and comments "I think I just swolled Nemo". He keeps acting that way and it gets annoying.

Now this movie is better than Love Don't Cose A Thing but I'd probably recommend Drumline before you go see this movie. It's just not right at the top. It has action and comedy but it doesn't mean it's good. I'd give it a 5.5/10

Sky High (2005)
7/10
Great action sequences and pure entertainment
13 May 2006
Freshman Will Stronghold (Angarano) must learn to live up to the legacy of his superhero parents (Russell and Preston) when he attends Sky High, a special high school for teens with superpowers. This movie has a fresh story and a nice plot. It can be high school fun and entertainment. It starts off when Will attends Sky Hih and feels bad that he maybe the only one who doesn't have any superpowers. His best friend since 1st Grade attends the school with him, Layla, played by Danielle Panabaker and I may say that this young actress can have a great career ahead of her. Will saw all of his classmates and what their powers are. From glowing in the dark to turning into a guinea pig. There were much better powers than those and this is why they get divided into a group of Heroes or Sidekicks. Will doesn't have any great powers and so he is sent to be a sidekick. So he wants to find himself and know what he can really do. Will has an archenemy. His archenemy's father was defeated by Will's father and these two young guys don't get along well.

I liked the story of this movie. I thought it was original in it's own way and it has great action sequences and it's pure entertainment. There are some Diney movies that can be good and some cannot. The same year, The Pacifier came out which made over 105 million at the box office. Sky High made about 65 million. Now that is good because you probably don't picture this movie being a hit but it was. So I will give this movie a 7 out of 10.

Funny and enjoyable
13 May 2006
One of the most recent Disney movies follows an epic tale that presents a new twist to the classic fable of a young chicken who causes panic when he mistakes a falling acorn for a piece of the sky. He shouts out to the whole town that the sky is falling. Chicken Little is voiced by Scrub's actor, Zack Braff and co-stars Steve Zahn. Once Chicken Little alerted the media that the sky is falling, no one believed him. Not even his father, the poor little chicken felt alone and left out. Everyone looked at him as a liar and so he wanted to do something to make people forget about that incident. So he joined a baseball team, he obviously does something big and makes everyone forget about what happened about the sky, the year before. But later, the same thing happens. Chicken Little saw the same thing in the sky and this time, his friends were with him too. So now he has to let everyone know before it's too late. So that's the basic story and plot about this movie.

Chicken Little is funny and enjoyable but maybe it would be more attractive if it was a Disney and Pixar film. I remember reading something that this film was going to be a Pixar film but something happened. But overall, this is a nice looking film. I'm sure that not only the younger viewers will enjoy this but the whole family can possibly enjoy this as well.

It doesn't add up to being one of those classic Disney movies, but I'm sure everyone will remember this funny looking chicken and his small glasses. 7.5/10

Cursed (2005)
4/10
Is this movie REALLY from the ones who did Scream?
30 April 2006
Like most Wes Craven movies, there is a serial killer. But in Cursed, it's not. It's a werewolf. A werewolf that looks like it came from the Scooby Doo movie. It follows three young adults who encounter a werewolf that is out loose in Los Angeles. The question is, where did this werewolf actually come from? We don't know. The either get scratched, bitten and that means they are Cursed. They have to get together and battle this beast. This film doesn't really have a good A-list cast, but Christina Ricci is the star and she is hot. Mya has a short time in this movie, but she still looks good. I don't even know why Shannon Elizabeth's name is on the movie poster, but she's only in this movie for about 5 mins. The movie will still be the same even if it had a different cast.

I seriously can't believe that this movie is from the ones who did Scream. How is that possible? Wes Craven always knows what he is doing and how could he come up with this? The plot sounds so bad. I will admit that I did want to watch this, I didn't know what to expect, is this was going to be a bad movie or a good movie. The Scream trilogy was so good, I truly don't know what made them think about this movie.

The rating of this movie doesn't matter. A lot of people were complaining because this movie received a PG-13 rating. It doesn't matter to me. The movie would still be the same. I don't care about the violence, sex scenes or language. This wasn't a good movie, and that is all I can say. 4.5/10

Roll Bounce (2005)
7/10
A great movie with great upcoming actors
30 April 2006
In the late '70s when roller skating is all youngsters were doing, X (Bow Wow) and his pals ruled at it. But when the doors of their local skating rink close, they feel it is the end, there is another skating rink that they don't like to attend - uptown's Sweetwater Roller Rink, complete with its over-the-top skaters and beautiful girls. Preparing for a skate off later that week, X and his friends have to work together and win as a team.

Roll Bounce is Bow Wow's second lead roll in a film. I have to say he wasn't bad. He's a good actor. There is a scene when X and his father are arguing and he gives a performance that I thought was well. But I have to say that his rapping isn't so good. I feel that he acts better than her raps, and that's not a good thing. There were other young actors and I thought that they will be getting some roles later in their career. This also is a good movie. I enjoyed it. You will have watching this because I did. There were some in jokes that you can laugh at, the story is good and the acting is well done. I remember the movie "You Got Served" which I thought that wasn't a good movie. The acting in that movie was terrible and watching Roll Bounce, you know which is a better movie.

This is a fun movie and I am recommending it. People will enjoy this film. 7.5/10

Not actually that bad like others say

Based on the TV series, The Honeymooners is the film about two best friends, bus driver Ralph Kramden (Cedric the Entertainer) and sewer worker Ed Norton (Mike Epps) who try to make a lot of money to get them out of Brooklyn and onto easy street. Standing by their husbands are wives Alice (Gabrielle Union) and Trixie (Regina Hall), who help their guys make ends meet by waitressing at a neighborhood diner.

I wasn't around for the T.V. show, so I know nothing about it. There has been a lot of talk into why there is a black cast and either names have changed, I don't know. I remember in the summer when this movie came out. I wasn't a blockbuster hit, and the critics weren't buying it. I remember how people said this was a terrible movie. After I watched it, I have to disagree. After I watched this movie, I was thinking, what was so bad about this movie? It's actually not that bad like others say. I was just an "OK" movie to me. I'm not gonna say that this is a good movie. I laughed a couple scenes.

The Honeymooners probably won't be a movie that I would want to watch again, but if I have to, I just may. I think some people could see this movie. Again, I know nothing about the T.V. show, maybe the fans of the show will be mad, but oh well. I'd give this a 6.5/10

What saved this movie is Witherspoon's performance. She had two roles. One before the accident and one as her spirit.
11 April 2006
A lonely architect falls for the spirit of a young beautiful woman who before used to live in his apartment before a fatal accident that transported her into the netherworld. He later wants to find out who this woman is and wants to discover her past. Reese Witherspoon stars in this film along with Mark Ruffalo. Reese Witherspoon saved this movie with her likable performance. She has a cute face and a cute smile and she made this movie work. I personally thought this movie was alright in its own way. It was original and had a few laughs throughout.

I really liked Reese Witherspoon's performance. Let me say that it was like she had two roles in the film. At the beginning, she seemed like your everyday typical female. She is a nurse at a local hospital and she cares a lot about her patients. Ater she has the accident and she meets Ruffalo's character, it seems as if she is a different woman and she is playing a different role, and that is what I liked. I actually saw this movie after her 2005 Acadamy Award win for "Best Actress," and I just discovered that she is a great actress.

Just Like Heaven is a nice film,it had a great story and it was original. I feel that people should see this movie and I know that they will enjoy it. Before seeing it, I didn't think that I would like it, and I did. 7.5/10/

The Island (2005)
7/10
A great action packed film
2 April 2006
Let me start off by saying that this is a hard movie to explain. If I want to give the summary for this movie, it could possibly spoil the movie. Therefore it's better to just see the movie, not knowing what it's about. This movie stars Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. This is also a bit confusing for me to explain what the movie is exactly about.Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) is a person living in a seemingly but weird in a contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all the people of this carefully constructed environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to "The Island," reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the plant, until he makes a terrible discovery that everything about his existence is a lie. He then informs Jordan Two Delta (Johansson) the truth about "The Island".

The thing that I don't really understand is why this movie bombed at the box office. It cost nearly 122 million to make and earned 25 million in the US. I don't understand why people missed out on this movie. It seemed like a big summer blockbuster and people missed out on it. To me, the cast was quite okay. The thing is, people probably didn't understand the story, and what it's exactly about.

This movie is an intense ride and a great action packed film. I enjoyed it and you won't get bored. This movie will keep you awake and on the edge of your seat. Scarlett Johansson is really hot in this movie and I'm sure in her others. I recommend that people watch this. 7.5/10

Great thrill ride of an adventure
2 April 2006
Based on the best-selling book by the acclaimed children's writer Chris Van Allsburg ("The Polar Express," "Jumanji"), Zathura is a heart-racing sci-fi adventure about two bickering brothers who are propelled into deepest, darkest space while playing a mysterious game they discovered in the basement of their old house. Zathura is the long awaited sequel of "Jumanji". One of my favorite movies of all time. I remember when there was an announcement that there will be a JUMANJI 2, years and years passed by and then I saw the trailer for this movie. There was quite a comparison between these two movies, but I knew that Jumanji will be better.

I'm not really going to compare this to Jumanji, because this is a whole new adventure.Zathura is a great thrill ride of an adventure and it has plenty of surprises. There aren't really any parts to bore you, this is a fun movie. But there is a question that I want to know. Who exactly made the game of Zathura? The two young boys found it in their basement, but we don't quite know who made it, or where it exactly came from and how did it even get in the basement in the first place. Thats not really going to bother me because overall I enjoyed this film. 7.5/10

Just Friends (I) (2005)

Surprisingly funny
26 March 2006
This romantic comedy stars Ryan Reynolds as a former high school geek turned trendy Los Angeles music executive. When he gets stuck in his New Jersey home town due to bad weather with a superstar singer he is trying to sign (Anna Faris), he finds himself reunited with his high school crush, (Amy Smart) and discovers she is his true love. Chris Klein is also in this movie, but do we care?

I didn't really think this would be a clever funny movie. It was surprisingly funny. The plot seems to be original but it's obviously predictable. There are a lot of in jokes and I have to say that I laughed many times during this movie. I also have to say that Anna Faris stole this show. She is so funny in her own way. When I see her, I think of her being in the "Scary Movie" series, but she is a great actress and could have a future one day. She's funny by the way she talks and, because of her character in this movie, being a singer, I was laughing while she was performing one of her songs.

"Just Friends" could be a movie that anyone could watch. Friends could watch along with couples. I was surprised that I enjoyed it and how it turned out. 7/10

The Fog (2005)
1/10
Don't waste your time. This will be an hour and a half of your life that you will never get back.
24 March 2006
There really is something out there in the dark. In the small town of Antonio Bay, a terrifying and force hidden within a thick and eerie fog terrorized its residents. Shrouded by the fog lies a ghastly secret of merciless revenge, one that the town's inhabitants would do well to unravel -- before it's too late. This film is obviously a remake from the John Carpenter classic which opened in 1980. This film stars TV's "Smallvile" Tom Welling, Maggie Grace and Selma Blair.

I had a feeling this movie wouldn't be satisfying. I absolutely hated how it turned out and this movie has the dumbest characters who don't use their brain. When one of the characters hear and see the fog, they get out of bed and go to check and see what it is, they're walking so slow and this slow horror music is playing, they turn around and their friend is there, who just sticks his hand out to say something. These things in horror movies have to change.

I didn't see the original Fog, but of course it may be a little better than this garbage. It's actually a sign that they got a PG-13 rating and not many critics were screened to view it. So it's a sign that this movie will be terrible. I hated this movie and I feel that there are other horror movies that you should see. Do not waste your time and money to see this movie. Even if you're a fan of the old one, I know you will be disappointed. I was. The Fog has cheap jump scenes that you wouldn't even jump at. Who really cares about the PG-13 rating, there won't be a difference.

So let me just say again. This movie is trash, garbage and deserves to be thrown in a dumpster. I give it a 1.5/10

Rent (2005)

Not easy to recommend. Long and Boring
24 March 2006
Based on Puccini's classic opera La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's revolutionary rock opera Rent tells the story of a group of bohemians struggling to live and pay their rent in the gritty background of New York's East Village. "Measuring their loves in love," these starving artists strive for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic. It stars Rosario Dawson,Taye Diggs and Wilson Jermaine Heredia.

To be honest, I haven't seen the play nor did I have any interest when the movie first came out. But I understood everything that was going on. I had no idea what the movie was actually about until I watched, but there was something wrong with the plot itself. If this movie is a bout a group of people wanting to pay their rent, then what are they exactly doing? 70% of this movie is all singing and the rest is acting and a story, I might add. There were a few boring scenes and I felt that I wanted the movie to be over because the running time is awfully long. It doesn't necessarily have to be 2 hrs and 15 mins. I heard that this was the longest play or something, so I don't know.

Maybe all the people who loved the play will indeed like this movie, but to the people who know nothing about this movie may not want to watch it. I just looked at it as a normal movie, I haven't seen the play but that isn't the reason why I'm giving it a low score. I'm just looking at it as a normal movie. The plot to me wasn't that good and there wasn't a good result at the end. I didn't really like this movie and it isn't that special. So I'll just say that RENT isn't easy for me to recommend. 5/10

Could've been better in a few ways
22 March 2006
Based on John Grisham's best-selling novel Skipping Christmas, this comedy stars Tim Allen as Luther Krank, a man who decides to skip Christmas and all the surrounding trappings and go on a vacation with his wife Nora (Curtis) instead. But when his daughter decides, at the last minute, to come home for the holidays, he is forced to put Christmas back together, from his wife.

Jamie Lee Curtis was actually funny in this movie. But I liked her performance better in the 2003 hit "Freaky Friday" where her performance was better. Tim Allen was okay in this movie. It seems like he is getting older, but he did alright. Now lets talk about the movie. I had a feeling that this movie was going to be funny, and it is. I liked how the whole neighborhood cares what Luther wants to do and how they act like it's there business. But I think the movie could've been better in a few ways. Let me just say this may have *BREIF Spoiler* but someone may expect this to happen, but how Luther and Nora decide to put Christmas back together, the neighborhood wants to help, after what they did to them. Also, how the fake the neighborhood could be. There is no way a neighborhood could act like that. Screaming "Free Frosty!" over and over again.

This could be a delight to some families, but I think the best Christmas movie is definitely "Home Alone", I love that movie so much. I think families could see this movie and enjoy it, but there are better holiday movies to choose from. 6/10

Rebound (2005)

Predictable but it may be a fun family film
17 March 2006
Coach Roy (Lawrence) once was college basketball's top mastermind. But when his temper raises the limits he is banned from college basketball, his only coaching offer comes from a junior high school. This was his old junior high school, where he played a lot of basketball and won many state championships. The Smelters is what the team is called, and they never won a single basketball game ever, but with Coach Roy's help, they're sure that it will change.

I'm getting kind of sick of these children/sport movies. The team is terrible but with the help of they're coach it will change. We just had "Kicking & Screaming" spring of 2005. I felt that it was a pretty decent movie, which I prefer over this. But these type of movies have to stop. They maybe pretty good family films, but most of them are predictable. What I did like about this one was that Coach Roy didn't have to do anything to get his team to the finals, it's that the team worked as a team and they got themselves to the top. Usually in these kinds of movies, the coach makes them better, but if you watch how Coach Roy performs his task as a coach, he knows what to do. I actually feel that Martin Lawrence is getting tierd of the movies he's doing. His roles were pretty good in the last decade, but I don't know about now.

Rebound can be a good movie, but there are other sport movies that I prefer to watch before this. Such as "The Big Green", " Little Giants" and others. I did laugh a few scenes in this movie, it's pretty funny and it could be a decent movie. 6/10.
