I can and have watched this over and over again. An absolute delight each time. A lot of detail in the production, while obviously not on the scale of a Broadway show. And I think the play benefits from this increased intimacy. Sheridan certainly makes the character her own. For Americans, if you enjoy Sheridan in "Funny Girl," make sure to watch her in "Cilia." (the tv production, not the new musical that is coming up with Sheridan in the UK .)

The books are all much better than the movies. However, I found the first movie enjoyable, and it introduced me to Lene Kaaberbøl's excellent writing, both her books for children & adults. The second movie is pretty bad. The script is so weak that I can't see the actors had much to work with. Worth watching for the gorgeous scenery and the excellent acting of Rebecca Emilie Sattrup, who plays the leading role of Dina. But definitely read the books. As mentioned in the first review, they skipped the second book, and with this extremely simplified second installment, you could say they skipped the third books as well!
