What the F was that?
2 October 2011
Brad Pitt, great actor. Loved almost all his movies. Fight Club, Se7en, Inglorious Basterd, even Benjamin Button and some others. I've enjoyed all of them. Sean Penn, another favorite of mine since I watched I Am Sam. He has that charisma that few have.

Went to this with a great expectation. Heck, the IMDb rating of 7+ usually indicates a good movie. After all, Brad Pitt and Sean Penn together? At the very least it should be watchable. But this movie, what the F? I kept giving it a chance. Kept saying to myself, come on, good part is coming. It never does. Wow. I don't even know if this qualifies as a movie. Movies usually have something called a plot.

This movie should be shown to prisoners as a form of torture. Seriously, force them to watch it every day. I'm sure there'll be much less repeat offenders.

Terrible attempt at recreating FRIENDS!!!
24 April 2011
Terrible...awful...well maybe not that bad, but it's certainly pretty bad.

Allow me to elaborate. I love the premise because it reminds me so much of Friends. Even the beginning when she walked out of the wedding is kind of like Friends' pilot episode.

The execution however, is sad. I don't know if it's the actors, the dialogs or the director's fault, probably all of them. It's just not funny, trying too hard to be funny and badly acted so it came off as fake and awkwardly annoying.

I have a feeling this series will be canceled soon. I'll give it one and a half seasons at most.

Surprisingly good
18 January 2011
Looking at the reviews, I was partially convinced that this will be a disaster. I braced myself for the worst and came out strangely surprised at the likability of this show.

Lets face it, when you see Matt LeBlanc as the main actor, you expect "Joey". Boy does that show sucks. But thank goodness this is much different. Don't get me wrong, he's still playing the Joey role, but this time he's not the main focus, just like Friends. I think they've learned that the Joey character just can't stand on its own.

I hope they keep that recipe in this witty little series. I find myself falling in love with it.

Horrible, Pretentious Movie
9 November 2010
I don't get this movie. I feel that it really sucks and very seldom do I find modern cinema that fails as bad as Scott Pilgrim does while getting good ratings at the same time. Excellent rating, even. IMDb, you failed me once again.

Lets first say that no wonder this movie failed horribly at the theater. The acting and the special effects were not bad. Unique, should I say. What made this movie such a bad movie is the fact that the storyline was so boring and don't make much sense.

You try to find some meaning out of it but in the end it is what it is. Crap covered in chocolate. It's still crap, but hey, it looks cool.

Terror Trap (2010)

Awful
2 November 2010
Where do I start with Terror Trap AKA Error Crap. My goodness, this movie is a utter failure in movie making. I don't mind the everything they stole from Vacancy. No sir, that's fine. What I mind, however, was the illogical plot line, the amateur hour actors and the lack of any sort of gore. The plot line might be similar to Vacancy but the execution was much worse.

For those who want to see Michael Madsen, don't. His presence in this movie is completely useless. In fact, the movie will make more sense if he's not in it. It seems they just inserted him in so that they can have Michael Madsen in the credit.

For those looking for gore, forget about it. This movie has none. It's basically as tame as Die Hard. Guys either get killed by guns or knives. And they don't show the killing scene.

A complete and utter failure of movie making, I can't stress that enough.

Alice in Wonderland (I) (2010)

Disappointing
14 March 2010
There are a few problems I find with this movie.

1. Mad Hatter isn't mad enough. The guy just isn't charming here. I don't know why. It's Johnny Depp and he's usually excellent with strange roles like this. For some reason he's not as mad as he should be and that is vastly disappointing since a lot of us is expecting him to charm the hell out of us.

2. Movie isn't funny enough. There are just so much more that could have been done. The characters are there. They just didn't explore them thoroughly. Instead, we see half-baked attempts that are neither original (far from it) nor funny. Which brings me to my next point...

3. Movie felt rushed. Well, I would like a little more character development, especially those creatures from Wonderland, even the villains. I do not feel connected at all to the characters.

Overall, the movie felt bland and forgettable with linear storyline and recycled humor.

The Wolfman (2010)

The Wolfman is awfully predictable and badly executed
27 February 2010
When I watch a movie, I like to see something new. That was not the case with The Wolfman. This movie is predictable every step of the way. Within the first 10 minutes, I had guessed the rest of the story correctly.

Plus, the cheap scare tactic throughout the movie. Those moments where it was serene then suddenly the monster appear with a loud sound. There are plenty of them and my goodness there were not only annoying, but also predictable. You see, this movie has so many of them that you can tell when the next one is coming from.

Then the hole in logic. Ahh yes, every movie has them. But this one has gone above the norm. It seems a lot of the actions taken by the characters were simply just so it will fit the next scene, not because it's what a thinking human being will do.

Did I mention the horrible script? Dialogues were sub par at best and mostly laughable. The actors' performance couldn't really lift the snooze fest that is this movie.

I will recommend this movie for young teens looking for some cheap thrill. Otherwise, stay away.

Firefly (2002–2003)

Their love made it work
15 January 2010
First of all, I dislike Sci-fi and Western genre and I generally try to avoid them. However, a few weeks ago I was searching for a good series and find Firefly as one of the highest rated TV series on IMDb. Also, many people has been raving about it so I wanted to know what the fuss was all about. Plus it only lasted one season so I thought, what the hell, lets see it. So I bought the DVD.

I truly regret doing so because I have been crying for the past weeks trying to understand how such a great show got canceled. I really took it personal. It was devastating reading what could have been the greatest TV series ever was taken away. Human mistakes once again rob us of our joy.

What makes Firefly works, in my opinion, is the genuine love that the actors have for each other. Sure it had a good storyline, plots, dialogs, etc, but what made it works was their joy in working with each other and it translates towards the screen. It is hard to explain but very easy to understand once you watch the show. Every actors, even the villains, were outstanding.

I am probably asking the same questions as any other Browncoats, why hasn't this series been continued? Everybody involved (creator, casts, fans) absolutely loved it. Everybody knew this is big. Well, money was a problem but if you believe that something is big, and every single person involved knew that this was something huge, it shouldn't be a barrier. So there must be another explanation why Firefly and the movie Serenity failed to reach the masses when everybody involved knew it was an exceptional show.

From what I gathered, the actors were genuinely happy to work on Firefly. Now that's no small matter. In this fast paced world, it's not easy to be truly happy in what you're doing and with who you're doing it with. Nathan Fillion have said that Firefly was the best job he ever have. The same notion was heard from the other cast members. Ron Glass said he couldn't reminisce of his Firefly days without getting emotional. Summer Glau expressed that there were such love in Firefly working environment. I have absolutely never heard such a resounding love from a single series before and believe me when I say they're not acting when they express their love for Firefly.

Firefly meant a huge deal for almost everyone involved in it. I am praying that one day, hopefully soon, this series can be continued with its original cast members.

You have to watch "Firefly" series first before watching this!
6 January 2010
I made a grave mistake of not knowing that this movie was based on the series "Firefly". I believe it's the highest rated TV show on IMDb.

Honestly, the first time I watch Serenity, I got bored. But that's only because I haven't watch "firefly". I didn't get the characters and the storyline seems confusing. But once I watch the entire Firefly series, this is like a new movie to me. It's highly exciting, humorous and emotional all at once.

The only thing I regret is them taking out one of the crew. It lessen the chance of the series getting back on the air. A lot of fans are still hoping they would continue Firefly because it honestly deserve its standing as the highest rated show on IMDb.

What's with all the hate?
8 October 2009
I love this movie. Somewhere in the fantasy lies a lot of truth and realism. How would we act if we found out our kid have this magical power to predict the future? Exactly like Eddie did! Well, maybe not quite so exaggerated like him but you get my point.

I also felt the kid's acting were great. She did act like a kid would be, with all the faults and insecurities. Dakota Fanning wasn't this good when she was her age.

This is a great family movie. It really is. It teaches us some morals, but not in a conceited, fairy tale, only happen in movie ways. It shows us straight up that Eddie does in fact used his kid for his personal benefit. And we all have to make hard decisions at times.

There are some fairy tale moments and some really good morals that both kids and adults will connect with and enjoy together.

Not True to The Street Fighter Series, Predictable and Awkward.
12 August 2009
Only one word to describe this movie: awful.

I have seen movies that failed in the same way this movie does. And there are many reasons for this. First, it is very awkward. Scenes doesn't always move smoothly. I can forgive this one because it only happen sometimes. Second, predictability. The scenes, the dialogues, it's all very cheesy and predictable. I also can forgive this one because, hey, what do you expect from a Street Figter movie. Third, lack of logic. In this movie we will find highly illogical decisions that will boggle our mind. I find this part especially irritating when watching this movie. They don't even bother to offer a decent explanation, everything is 'just because'. Fourth, it doesn't stay true to the game. Lets face it, we want to see awesome moves from the game. Instead, this movie offer very little of that and a lot of generic fighting & shooting actions. Fifth, it's about Chun Li, a fairly minor character in the Street Fighter series world whom not many care about.

Overall, it's just not a very accurate depictions of the characters that we loved in the Street Fighter series.

Sorry excuse of a movie!
7 August 2009
Lets start by saying I watch this movie with expectation of just being entertained. Instead, I ended up have to fast forward it a few times because I can guess the storyline already.

The plots have been used literally millions of times, nothing new here. In fact, it is blatantly stealing scenes and ideas from other movies while offering nothing new.

The acting are pretty good in some scene, truly atrocious in other. Vanness Wu is playing the Stephen Chow role. He did pretty well considering he's a horrible actor. The scenes and lines that are used in this movie are truly one of the worst I've ever seen. It seems some scenes are forced just for the sake of completing the movie. Add a huge amount of logic holes and unrealism to that, and the scenes will make you think, "well that's not what normal thinking human being will do."

In conclusion: character development are very poor, plot predictable, cheesy lines, unrealistic scenes, and bad actors describe this movie perfectly. A shame for Asian movies indeed.

Weak, Very Weak Movie
8 July 2009
Another major crap released. The atrocity of these filmmakers who would create sucky movie and then call it "art".

"Well it's art, you can't argue with it, you either like it or not" Bulls***! It's crap dressed pretty. The fact that this movie has a very weak storyline, weak premise, trying too hard and very weak impression should tells us that the producer, director and whoever else involved in making Brunson is out of their mind.

In no way this is a breakthrough. This must rank way way down in its own genre, which I'm sure will be called "crappy movies lacking imagination". Oh wait a minute, the music sucked too. I would think that's one of the area they could get right since, well, it's not so hard picking good music.

All in all, they are trying to hard to make a certain kind of movie and it fails. A big, fat, major failure. If you ever had the misfortune of renting this, make sure you don't bring your loved ones to see it, they don't deserve it.

Watching This is Like Eating The Perfect Cuisine
13 June 2009
Have you ever order something that sounds ordinary in a restaurant, and don't think much of it and then after your first bite you find out that not only the food was excellent, it was something familiar yet very satisfying. That is how I feel about this movie.

WOW is just a word I have to use when describing this movie. I thought it would be just another kids movie. Boy, was I wrong. This is NOT a children movie at all. I think kids will be absolutely terrified by it. Even me, a 24 years old fine young lad is creeped out by it.

That said, I love this movie so much. I think this is one of the best movie that has come out in years. That was not very easy to say since I'm very picky and critical in terms of movies. I can't describe how satisfying watching a movie like this is. There was no boring moment for me. The pace, the plot, the characters development, the familiarity, it was all perfect, just perfect.

I have not read the book before by the way, I didn't even know there was a book until I read someone say it in IMDb. Doesn't matter, the animators were brilliant. The story complex yet familiar and satisfying. It smashed all my expectations away.

The movie with 1001 plot holes
24 May 2009
First, let me say the good things. Special effect: great!

Now that we get that out of the way, we can finally get to the bad news. Plot holes should be expected in movies like this but not so much that it blows your mind. This is what exactly happen, we are left wondering, what happen to this, what happen to that.

Also, there's just too much going on in the movie. Too many characters trying to be cute and funny. I realize this is more of a children movie but has the intelligence of our youth drop this badly? If you ever watch Hannah Montana with your kids, the style of jokes used in this movie is exactly like that. Funny at times but mostly embarrassing.

To end on a positive note, I guess the acting can be better but really, it isn't as bad as I first thought, considering the cheesy lines they're forced to work with.

In the end, all I can say is, if you're an adult, and you think this is a great movie, there might be something wrong with you.

A View on Mike Tyson's Life From Tyson's Eyes
20 April 2009
An excellent narrative on Mike Tyson's life from his point of view. The narrative is all done by Mike himself. Watching this movie you feel like you're sitting in front of Mike Tyson asking him to tell you his life story.

The movie itself I believe is not scripted since it's Mike Tyson himself telling us and the way he spoke seems genuine and full of holes in logic. In short it seemed honest enough.

Seeing this documentary, you gain a good amount of perspective about Tyson's personality, his life, how he think, his problems, and the people around him. The best part for me was when he explained why he bite Holyfield's ears.

Definitely one to watch for his fans. If you're not a Tyson or boxing fan, you might get a little bored.

I Want to Cry...
18 March 2009
Oh the humanity, how does this piece of monkey butt get released. Very bad directing and acting job here. Very sad day for film industry.

The story is so cliché and very far from believable. I think the producer has really find a way to insult our intelligence while taking our money at the same time. To top it off, the humor was awkward, it's just a bad piece of movie from the get go.

I find myself rooting for the bad guy since he's at least entertaining. Overall just a very awkward B rated movie. Don't buy this movie, don't rent it, I would advise to not be in the same vicinity as this movie. Maybe buy it as a gift for your worst enemy, it might kill him.

Utter crap
21 December 2008
Wow how do I start on this piece of donkey poop.

Seriously folks, don't waste any of your hard earned money to watch this film, especially during this recession. I suspect the producer's brain was on recession too. How can we otherwise explain this mind-shattering idiocy.

Oh sure it start out great for about 30 minutes. The rest though, is worse than any Jennifer Lopez movie.

It's a pity too since it has great premise. The storyline is too weak and the ending is even weaker. In the end, when the credit rolls, anyone associated with this movie should be ashamed, well maybe not the visual effect guy cause he did a pretty good job. But for the rest of em, holy crap, this is uwe boll territory right here.

This is the worst SAW to date.
25 January 2008
I feel this latest version is the worst SAW to ever come out.

As usual, it continues the previous plots and try to explain many things about the previous movies. However, I am very disappointed in the lack of grip in this movie. Don't get me wrong, there are still a lot of sadism and gore in this one but it just doesn't match up to the previous movies.

Also, the plot seem to be fairly straightforward this time with a little twist here and there. The mind games fans will certainly not be pleased.

Still, it won't bore you at all. Rather left you dissatisfied as you walk out of the theater. A ray of hope however, is that this movie left a lot of room for SAW 5

Six Rules To Enjoy SAW III
23 January 2008
SIX RULES TO ENJOY SAW III:

ONE: If blood , gore and sadism turn you off, do NOT watch this movie.

TWO: If you have NOT watch the SAW 1 and SAW 2, do NOT watch this movie.

THREE: If you don't like movies with a lot of twists, do NOT watch this movie.

FOUR: Do NOT watch this movie with children. It is going to scar them for a long time.

FIVE: Bring a blanket (or a boyfriend/girlfriend) when you watch this movie because there are some scenes that you would want to cover your eyes with something.

SIX: Accept the characters as they are and accept how they think.

So the rules are simple. Follow them and you will not be disappointed. This third movie is brilliant. It explains a lot about the last two sequels and the plot twists are just brilliant. There are not a single boring moment in this movie.

Let the game begin. =)

Only for those who enjoy artistic films!
1 August 2007
This is one of the most awfully and painfully boring movie I have ever watched. Let me explain, the story is rather interesting with many plots. The problem is the SCENES. OH MY GOD they are making every scene feel like an eternity. A simple and unimportant scene can be 5 MINUTES longer than needed. they are really dragging the audience' patience here. I slept through many parts of the movie simply because it is so dull.

I have to say that the background music is very annoying too. By today's standard of course. maybe it wasn't at the time the movie was made but it only make sense to review it by today's standard because people live and watch movie in the present.

If you enjoy those artistic movie where the scenery and slow pace are important too then I think this movie will be very enjoyable to you. Otherwise, avoid this movie like the plaque.

Transformer is as good as it gets!
3 July 2007
Great visual effect, Great comedy, and lots of action, what more do you need?

Transformers is one of the few movies that managed not to take itself very seriously, even though it could and the storyline seem to ask for it. It is full of comedic moments and I find myself laughing almost throughout the movie.

The only bad thing might be it drags a little towards the end. I mean, come on, we already know who's going to win and who's going to lose; there's no point on dragging the battle. The battle look amazing though.

The visual effect was simply amazing. I applaud the crew who made it very believable. There are a lot of flaws but if you're not looking for it specifically, you will enjoy this movie. I know I did.

I will give it 8.8 out of 10.

Ratatouille is a breath of fresh air!
2 July 2007
This is a movie that the whole family should enjoy. It is cute enough for young kids and deep enough for the older people. Plus, it's funny. Not very, but just funny enough to keep you entertained. The older folks can really connect with the story.

The animation is truly an art. It looks very realistic and fluid spare a few of the scenes. They can make rats look cute...what am I saying, it's what they do :D

I thank Disney for making movie enjoyable again for the whole family. The last few years had been a dark age for Disney family movies. I really hope that they can continue in this path for years to come. It's really no fun when parents have to sit through a movie which they don't enjoy.

I will give it an 8.8 out of 10

Pretty average
2 July 2007
The movie is pretty average. There are many of the usual plot holes you should expect from Die Hard or just about any action movie. The story is standard and dull at times. It's unbelievably unrealistic as we all should know and expect from this kind of movie. There's really nothing new here. It's the classic Batman and Robin movie.

In terms of comedy, this movie doesn't really offer much. Maybe the occasional chuckle from 'you know it's coming' comedy style. In terms of actions however, this movie offers plenty of it. Just about all you can imagine; cars, helicopters, jets, women. There's not much romance at all though. I guess they want to keep it PG-13.

All in all, this is a plain movie. I'll give it 4.6 out of 10.

P.S It's great to see that the hero has no conscience at all for killing people :D
