season 1 was incredible
28 March 2024
I've only watched season one so far but i loved it. Matthew McConaughey is one hell of an actor. Woody Harrelson also does a great job. I saw quite a few big names throughout the first eight episodes. The makeup artists did a great job at making the characters older and younger, too.

The story is so great, you get pulled in and can't stop watching. Definitely a binge-worthy show. There were times i wondered if our two main characters were the bad guys, separately and together, or if they were just doing their jobs really well.

I've heard the next couple seasons aren't great but i still plan to watch them. I will update this review as i finish each season.

this episode shows a better side of peter
15 January 2024
Almost all Peter Benton ... this episode focuses on dr. Benton signing up for a."locum tenens," which is when a doctor goes elsewhere to fill in for another doctor. At the last minute, he finds out he's going to a very small southern town. Upon arrival, his rental car breaks down, and he soon learns racism is very much alive in this area. As he meets the woman he's supposed to replace, and starts taking care of the community, you see a personal growth in peter benton. He faces some hatred, even danger, but learns to do his best despite the challenges. When he saves a white boy, the people start coming around. And when he delivers a breach baby, more respect is gained.

To me, this episode takes a cold surgeon and turns him into a better human and doctor. I liked this episode for that.

something different, and it works!

The uniqueness of this show is refreshing! It's something you haven't seen, nothing like the rinse-and-repeat reality shows of today.

This show started out a little slow for me but didn't take long to pick up. It's kind of hard to believe sometimes that everyone is an actor except for Ronald. Sometimes i even forgot that he wasn't an actor. There's some unbelievable moments but who hasn't seen crazy stuff in real life. And let's face it, you never know what you're gonna get when put into a group like this. I loved that Ronald didn't judge people, he stood up for everyone. He has a genuine heart, which is really what made the show for me.

This being a free-to-watch show is also a perk. Way to go amazon! That said, make sure to watch the second set of commentary episodes for more laughs and insight into what Ronald was thinking, such a fun add-on.

i don't know why i still watch this show
5 March 2023
I have never loved this show. Occasionally an episode is fair. It's never good. Most of the characters suck. I can't stand halstead or manning. I love dr charles and maggie. Dr choi, ms goodwin, and april, i could take or leave them.

The doctors often ignore what the patient wants. They're judgmental and condescending. I would have to walk out on a doctor like that.

The medical storylines always seem unbelievable. Some of the producers done in the er are crazy unlikely.

I am pretty sure the only reason i watch this show is the occasional crossover event. But the more i think about it, i bet i'd be ok skipping the ones that aren't crossover episodes.

loved season one, have not read the book
2 January 2023
Wow! In glancing through the reviews, it looks like those that read the book, aren't happy. But i was on the edge of my seat watching each episode of season one. The acting is super. The story is intriguing, though sad and hard to watch at times. The characters are great (though there are a few i want to smack and/or kick in the nuts, at a minimum). The end of season one leaves me wanting more so i hope season two is in the works. (i googled, it looks like it's planned but not started as of december 2022.)

this is the story of a modern day girl who is dragged into the 1800s, and then dropped back into today. Each time she leaves, she is gone longer, though very little time passes in today's time. She has no idea how she is pulled back in time, or what sends her back to today. She does start to learn as the episodes proceed.

Once i started this 8-episode story, i didn't want to stop. I was about to get the book, but it's not highly reviewed, and if it deviates a lot from this series. I'll wait till the rest of the story (hopefully) plays out on tv.

starts good, then they bring political opinions in
23 October 2022
I am a big fan of the wire. I loved seeing some familiar faces (delaney williams, domenick lombadozzi, to name a couple). I loved some of the new faces too. Jon bernthal is phenomenal. He even has that dundalk accent down. (i read somewhere that he grew up in DC.) wunmi mosaku was a great actress as well, though she seemed to bring the politics in a lot.

The story is a bit hard to follow with the back and forth. I wish it was more on a straight timeline.

But honestly, i started mentally tuning out when political opinions became a part. I have my political opinions, you have yours. But they don't belong here.

I honestly would not recommend this series. And, unlike the wire, i won't watch it again.

intriguing series, worth the watch
6 August 2022
Everyone raves about andrew garfield, but i think gil birmingham was excellent too. There wasn't a character in the series that didn't go a great job.

The series shows how a mormon detective begins to question his beliefs, his religion, in investigating the murder of a mormon woman and her 15 month old daughter. As usual, the husband becomes the first suspect. But he actually provides a lot of information about the cult that his brothers have become, and the story unfolds. A lot of this is based on a true story.

Ouch! So many bad reviews and a low score. Glad i watched it before i saw that. I think this was a good movie! Some really funny lines. Queen latifa is great, as usual. I am not usually a jimmy fallon fan, but i liked him in this.

great movie
20 February 2022
I loved this movie. Dell (chris rock) is fresh out of prison and looking for proof that he tried to get a job, without trying to get a job. Philip (brian cranston) chooses him as his carer. It's not the kind of job dell would've chosen, for sure. But the money is great. Before you know it, dell is showing philip how to live his life, and they're becoming friends. And philip even brings some of his life into dell's.

Predictable, maybe. But there are some funny moments, some heartening moments. All in all a really great movie. I will watch this again.

not a typical episode but i loved it
15 September 2020
This episode centers around Bailey, Robbins, and Wilson going to a prison to treat a young inmate who is pregnant. really doesn't connect the storyline much from the prior episode to the next one. but that's ok! i loved the story, seemed well-written and well played.

great acting, i really enjoyed this show
5 July 2020
For the first time in a long time, i watched without reading the reviews. and i'm glad i did! i thought all the actors were wonderful! the story was pretty believable and even relatable in some ways. the story follows two mothers who couldn't be more different, and their families and histories. it's mostly set in the mid to late 90s, which i thought gave it an interesting flair. i loved kerry washington in scandal and i think she brought some of olivia to this, her strength as a woman, for sure. i think she smiled more in these 8 episodes than she did the entire stretch of scandal. reese witherspoon is great in all her many parts and in this one, i feel like you love to hate her. she has her great qualities even as a sort of stepford wife. all of the kids were great too.
