Argylle (2024)
This Movie Changed My Life
I have suffered some awful hangovers in my time and had panic attacks that have caused me to question my sanity. But none of those come close to how this film made me feel.
The first half hour had me involved, and I was enjoying the storyline, characters included the fat puff head Alfie.
But not long after the London scenes I started to see flaws, flaws I tried to ignore and give Matthew Vaughan a chance with what he was going for. But this film ain't another Kingsman film, so don't be fooled people!
This is the first film I have watched in my life where I was ashamed of the word "acting". I understand people need to be paid, but when you're Samuel L Jackson- do you really need to put yourself through this? These Hollywood a-listers get paid millions to put together this garbage together just for us general public to watch it. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Yes you're right I didn't have to see this. But I'm a movie fan and I am big Sam Rockwell fan, but God above
did this make me feel confused to be a human being.
I won't ruin the movie for people as I think everyone should watch this diabolical mess to make them realise how wonderful life is and how grateful we can all be to live on this beautiful planet.
I thought I understand movie making, but now I don't even understand life itself. What is life? What is love? What is going on with Catherine O Hara's British accent!!!?!!?!
Jackass Forever (2022)
By a life long fan
In all honesty, I'm not disappointed in this entry to the franchise. Just underwhelmed. I did obviously laugh at a lot of moments, mainly due to the fact it was great to see the OGs back on screen again after so long. I was 17 when Jackass 3D came out and remember sneaking in to the cinema with my younger brother, before a time of social media and Tik Tok. When it Jackass was at its height. Ever since then I have followed the OGs social footprint, in the hopes that one day we'd get a 4th film. But this was not the film I thought I'd get.
I'm not a toxic fan, and I really do love most of the stunts in this one, but the editing and directing was lacklustre compared to the last films, and at times I felt like I was watching .5 film on the big screen.
The one stunt that stuck with me is "The Silence of the Lambs." I was literally in tears of laughter at Ehren's reactions and the whole concept was brilliant.
I loved seeing Tyler the creator and Eric Andre involved, but I was 50/50 on the new cast, they got stuck in but were ultimately lacking the onscreen jazz and chemistry that the OGs have.
The opening was crazy and worked perfectly, but the ending was the worse of the franchise and like the majority of the film, felt half finished.
Another one of my big hangs up was that infamous "Bam scene." This was bizarre to see and really didn't need to be there, it was strange to see him pop up and then suddenly cut away back Knoxville. It was all just very weird.
It felt like Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr deciding to bring the Beatles back. It ain't gonna work. You ain't getting that lighting in a bottle again.
The credits were also lacklustre, apart from the Ryan Dunn tribute, which again felt rushed and uninspiring.
Finally, don't read my review and think "wow this guys a toxic Jackass fan" because I'm not, I will watch anything these guys do, but in short this film felt pointless compared the others. Stick to watching Jackass 3.5 instead.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Part of the journey is the end
I have no words to describe the sheer magnitude of this film. From its comedic moments with a fat Thor or emotional scenes like Black Widow's sacrifice. This film gives not only hardcore MCU fans a heart wrenching finale but casual movie goers a whirl wind of emotions. My screening was packed out with both. And the cheers and claps during Caps hammer time moment surely shows how far these films have come in terms of story telling, character development and cinematic bombshells. I don't think I will ever see a film again that will make me cry twice in one sitting, and I say twice because you truly feel the importance of these characters mission and their passion for getting the job is shown.
Titanic (1997)
Scariest Horror Film Ever
Am I the only one who finds this film unsettling and beyond upsetting? I mean, don't get me wrong it's an amazing film and personally JC's best work, but some scenes will scar me for life. And the fact it is marketed as romantic/drama is crazy, as I felt myself more terrified than loved up! In my opinion this is essential viewing for any film lover, but be warned; it's the scariest film ever made!
Great Expectations (1946)
The definition of what a film should be!
I decided to watch this just off the cusp tonigt, and I can honestly say it was not what I was expecting! There were a huge amount of twists and turns, which made me not want to take my eyes off the screen. I recommend anyone to watch this classic film, which in my opinion is what a film should be, the thrills, the tension, the drama, the writing, the acting by the entire cast, and not to mention David Lean's superb direction! 10/10
