Respect and empathy, always.

The humorous collision between two generations in a technological apocalypse. Believe it or not, it works.
We finally have a movie with a plot that reflects the interaction of a largely common family with today's technology. Here we see how the internet, social media and viral videos generation collide with the old hobbies (like camping, cooking or hanging out with the family) generation. And not only that, but we also see this collision transform into a fusion where emotions and family ties work as glue.
Humor ad hoc to the context everywhere: embarrassing situations, personality conflicts, awkward movements and much more, always in total synchrony with a very well told story and a very well achieved animation, especially focused on gesticulation and precise body communication to every scene. Perhaps the only bad thing could have been an excess of enthusiasm in the approach and construction of the villain to overcome, exaggerating the adverse event to overcome.
Fully recommended to watch with your family and play to identify with each character, as the film also includes as an ingredient some deep reflections on how to improve interpersonal relationships within the family nucleus, as if something were missing to complete the almost perfect production of the creators of Spider -man Into The Spider-Verse, who with this work secured their ticket to next year's great prizes.
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Mediocre movie, far from expectations.
I wonder if the production companies had given this film more budget, it would have turned out better. Because in reality it can be improved in many ways.
The main plot is confusing and superficial. The story line never reaches a conclusion. Where is the tournament?? In the end everything is a bad justification to show a couple of fatalities and to be able to add some lines stolen from video games.
The film has some good sequences and others not so good, showing that the fights and the visual effects were worked with uneven effort. The character design is good, although the antagonists are just actors being mannequins to add visuals and special effects. There are scenes where there is a lot of unnecessary blood and others where more blood is needed. By the way, there were few grotesque scenes. More of this was expected.
In short, it is a mediocre film, which falls short of expectations.
The natural evolution we expected from John Wick
It is an entertaining movie, with lots of action, bullets, fists, blood and also subtle humor, hidden in sarcastic workplace safety signs.
The character is the natural evolution of John Wick. But it is a positive, mature, and humane evolution, surrounded by a beautiful and caring family.
I love that the main character is not an almost android agent, who they can't even beat because of how well trained he is. Quite the contrary, he is a man who is beaten in every battle and wounded in every firefight.
I wish Odenkirk had his trilogy like Reeves did and it will surely be much better.
Recommended movie for one of those afternoons when you want to see an action movie, where the plot is just a justification for the rivers of bullets and blood.
Art, culture, magic and wolves. Many wolves.
A wonderful movie, which is on the same level as Soul and only a few steps below Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse.
It is a movie full of art, culture and magic. A very entertaining script, full of emotions. It is a film that delights the eyes of anyone who appreciates the world of art, drawing and painting mixed with stories, fables and tales.
It's clearly part of the best of 2020.
Great idea, not so good execution
The plot and the general idea of the film is very good. The design of the biomechanical devices and their interaction with the characters is great.
Unfortunately the script is very slow and static. It lacks the explosiveness of video games plots. The performances were flat and unconvincing, so much so that they bore the movie. The female lead is often unnecessarily sexualized and not always very successfully.
It could have been a really good movie, but it falls far short of the sci-fi movie average of its time.
Hotel Artemis (2018)
Excellent light action film. Don't underestimate it.
It's a movie that does what it promises. It has the precise quota of each of the cinema styles that it boasts. Excellent premise, the right dose of drama to connect the plot points, a great climax full of melee action and all immersed in the near future that sneakily flirts with science fiction.
Very entertaining, for moments when you want to see something light with a high rhythm.
Libanese cinema masterpiece
Capernaum (2018) is one of the most heartbreaking movies I've seen lately. It makes you reflect on how lucky you were to be born where you were born and to live what you live, because there are stories like these where absolutely nothing is favorable. Not the country, not the culture, not the customs, not the city, not the family, not the parents, nothing. But in a really radical and extreme way.
After watching this film, I have the same feeling that I had after having seen the Brazilian film "Cidade de Deus" (City of God). Coincidentally, the ancient city of Capernaum was known as the City of Jesus.
Excellent editing, wonderful performances and a spectacular script. A masterpiece of Lebanese cinema. It will surely be in my top 5 of the movies I have seen this year.
Raw, real and insane.
Interesting movie that shows us one of the dangers of warfare for the mental health of soldiers: loneliness and inactivity on the battlefield. The wait for a war that never comes. The wait that is finally more ruthless than enemy bullets.
Raw, real and insane. Very good movie.
Monster Hunter (2020)
Another videogame movie ruined
It's a complete mess, a waste of good visuals and special effects. It is a story without meaning or logic, that goes nowhere.
...at least the dragons have a good design and kinetics. Even so, don't waste your time.
Pieces of a Woman (2020)
Powerful and deep drama
It is a dramatic, heartbreaking and visceral movie. See it on a day of mental and emotional strength.
It has great performances, worthy of nominations for great industry awards, including the Oscar.
It has a similar tone and vibe to the Marriage Story movie, with powerful and unbridled performances. It also includes some pretty cool sequential shots.
Well done, Vanessa Kirby.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
The Superheroes movie of the century
The 70's and 80's had Christopher Reeve's Superman.
The 90's had Tim Burton's Batman.
The 2000s had Christopher Nolan's Batman.
The 2010s had their Endgame.
For the rest of this decade... I mean, for the rest of this century, we will have the Zack Snyder's Justice League.
The Father (2020)
A Moving Story
Those who have or have had close experiences with relatives who suffer from senile dementia or Alzheimer's will find in this film a very moving story. For those who do not, they could also fall into the sensitivity presented by the masterful role of Anthony Hopkins.
However, when the story is already set, it could be a little bit slow and predictable.
Nominated for 6 Oscars, including Best Actor and Best Picture, "The Father" bears some resemblance to another great film, "Still Alice" (2014) starring the great and only Julianne Moore, who actually won the Oscar that year for best actress.
The Dark Knight (2008)
The deserved tribute that was owned to the comics.
A film that perfects a revitalized superheroes genre with its predecessor in the series of the man-bat, we see a mature movie with all the necessary ingredients to make it popular and a cult movie at the same time. Action, suspense, humor, and drama. It sticks to the original characters, it makes them real. There was a great study of the whole history and that was embodied to the screen with brilliant acting of Bale and Ledger and all the supporting cast. Nolan makes justice to the comics that deserved a masterpiece like this one. Batman Begins was truly necessary to finally get this great movie, although if you know the story, it keeps independence with the first part. Totally recommended.
