Drunk History (2013–2019)

This show consistently cracks me up
11 January 2018
If you are looking for a show that is uniquely funny, Drunk History is the show for you. The concept is so fresh and original that I find myself telling people to check out the show without telling them anything about it. I feel as though going into this show blindly (as I did) makes for a better first-watch and intrigues you to want to watch more.

Without giving too much away, the show has inebriated people telling their version of historical events. While the person is telling the event chronologically, there is a reenactment of the event happening on screen simultaneously coinciding with what the drunk person is saying. I won't say any more than this because I really recommend going into this show as blindly as possible.

I urge you to give this show a chance; it often has me in stitches and I am not one who easily laughs at 'comedy.' Hope you enjoy.

Entertaining all the way through
12 April 2015
I originally played this movie late at night so that I could fall asleep to it. However, once the beginning credits started to play, I could not keep my eyes off the screen as my attention was caught early and stayed strong all the way through. It shows the meteoric rise of a 18 year old high school drop out to a massive drug hauling king pin.

I realize that some people will be quick to pass up this movie as some 'stoner flick' not worth watching but there is so much more to this movie than meets the eye. The film has a little bit of everything including strong dialogue, relatable characters, and quite a few laughs in between. The characters are believable and likable and all parts are played satisfactorily. The ending wrapped everything up nicely and answered all questions that have been in viewers' minds while watching.

Overall, solid movie indeed. It may not have the most depth in terms of story, but nonetheless it was a very entertaining movie. 7/10

Solid Horror Flick
22 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
To begin with, this horror movie is not without its flaws, but then again, what horror movie is? As we all know, most horror movies are cliché, predictable, and downright bad. But this little gem is something different and certainly should not be missed by those who enjoy a good scare.

The bad: What the main character (Ethan Hawke) does throughout the movie is a bit unrealistic at times. It was though he was asking to fall deeper within the ominous environment around him with little to no regard for his family's well being. Other viewers may disagree with me, but the path Ethan Hawke chooses to take throughout the course of the movie was inevitably towards his own doom and could have realistically been avoided. I would liked to have seen more rational choices been made by the characters, especially Ethan Hawke's character, to make for an even better solid horror movie.

The Good: There is plenty good to say about this movie. The idea was original, the acting was solid, the humor was placed ever so gently, and the build up to the climax was on point. I am not easily scared, but I found myself cringing in my seat during the dark scenes and gripping the chair I was sitting in. The movie gives away subtle clues to the ending but in no way does it reveal anything that will deter the viewer from finishing the movie.

If you are a fan of blood and gore, look elsewhere because this movie does not have much of it at all and if you think you know the ending, you are probably wrong. You may know part of it, but you do not know all of it. Viewers can rest assure that they may think they know the whole ending, but in all probability, they do not.

Overall, if you want so endure a solid, original horror movie, you have found your film. Sinister delivers.

Brutal, but you can't look away
9 September 2013
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The acting was top-notch, the action was brutal yet captivating at the same time, and to make such an edge-of-your-seat thriller with such a simple plot is bravo in my book. As soon as the opening scene concludes it leaves you craving for more and the rest of the movie certainly delivers with an ending that satisfies. There's one particular scene in the movie that is definitely going to get under your skin (You'll know when you see it) and it will either make or break the movie. After I saw this scene I was on my feet cheering for the "good guy" wanting more and more. The only thing about the movie that was fairly annoying was the way the movie was being filmed, visually. Awkward camera angles and frizzy camera images left the movie annoying to watch at times, but fortunately id does not take away from the movie. All in all, if you have a solid stomach, crave an intriguing thriller without having to think much, this is your movie. Highly recommended.
