Watch this for RDJ if for no other reason. His changing makeup, costumes and characters are simply amazing. Sandra Oh also delivers a fantastic performance. Both of these seasoned actors add a layer of depth to the plot line, which get a little convoluted at times. I read the book a few years ago and didn't really recognize it was the same story. But having lived through that period, it brings back a lot of emotions concerning the war but also some good feelings from the culture references. A good backup to the history of America that adds an emotional layer to the basic facts of what went on in that turbulent time.
