My name is Matilda, I live in Sweden and I´m a huge fan of movies, tv shows and documentaries. I mainly watch romantic movies, comedies, dramas and thrillers. I tend to dislike sci-fi and horror movies.
I express my honest opinions in my reviews. I hope that my reviews are helpful. I read reviews on IMDb in two cases. One, when I, for some reason, is unsure wheter I should watch something. Two, when I´m curious about what other reviewers think.
Have a nice day!

Young Royals (2021)
Youthful, romantic and genuine.
I have really enjoyed the first two seasons of "Young Royals"! The story is great! I think that the characters are believeable. The cast and crew have, in my opinion, done a fantastic job! I have watched some scenes circa 40 times, especially 3 with Wilhelm and Simon. I have even watched some scenes with German subtitles and audio. Why? Just because I wanted to improve my German.
Young love can be both strong, quite impulsive and vulnerable. The romantic relationships in "Young Royals" captures those feelings. I can truly see and feel that.
I really want to see the third and, quite unfortunately, very last season of this amazing TV series. I have an extremely strong feeling. It screams that I´m going to miss "Young Royals" after the third season. I highly recommend this TV series and, to be clear, not only for teenagers. I´m an adult and I don´t regret that I watched this.
Mademoiselle Chambon (2009)
Childhood memories.
My dear father is a carpenter. Therefore I can, without any doubt, absolutely say that "Mademoiselle Chambon" brings back quite many of my childhood memories. But my parents are still happily married.
I actually like Jean quite much. He is a trustworthy and skilled carpenter, a father, husband and son who loves his family and yes, I think that he really tries to do his best.
Things get complicated when Jean meets Véronique, his sons teacher. She is beautiful, musical, caring and a great teacher. Quite soon it is clear that Jean and Véronique have started to feel attraction for each other.
I liked this movie very much. It has, in my opinion, tender moments with subtle passion who burns slowly. So if you love raw and explosive sex scenes I wouldn´t recommend this. The story develops nicely if you ask me. I would have liked a bit more clarity in some scenes. But I´m still glad that I watched this. No regrets here.
India Song (1975)
This was almost like a sleeping pill for me.
I have watched thrillers with a lot of action and violence. I have also watched calmer movies which have moved forward carefully. For example I have watched and liked Ingmar Bergmans "Autumn Sonata" (1978). I have also watched movies and TV series with clear connections with India.
But what exactly happened here? At first I wanted to give "India Song" an honest chance. And yes, I´m a very patient human who can wait for something interesting to happen. But after 1 hour with "we are just going to stand or lie here like sculptures", 6 % clarity, confusing narration and, if you ask me, no genuine emotions, my yawning and hopelessness I gave up.
In other words I paused the movie, grabbed my laptop and played "The Sims 4" instead. At least I can find passion in that game. Unfortunately I didn´t find the same feeling in this movie.
But after that I decided to give the rest of "India Song" a chance. Nothing truly interesting happened. Finally I decided to fast forward to the end of the movie. And yes, I did that. Personally I wouldn´t recommend this movie for anyone. But if you are trying to fall asleep I would highly recommend "India Song".
Jewish Matchmaking (2023)
I must say that I really liked this.
No, I´m not a Jew. But I have Jewish characters in some of my writing projects. "Jewish Matchmaking" gave me inspiration for those writing projects. And yes, therefore I´m very thankful!
Aleeza is a kind and bubbly person in my opinion. She helps her clients in a nice and respectful way. I would consider hiring her if I was a Jew and lived in the U. S. I would also be happy if a second season of "Jewish Matchmaking" comes.
Is there room for improvement for this reality TV series? If you ask me I´ll say yes. It would be very good if it showed what happened with everyone afterwards. I did my own online research and, quite unfortunately, didn´t find satisfactory answers. But all in all I really liked "Jewish Matchmaking". And yes, I recommend this.
Indian Matchmaking (2020)
A enjoyable learning experience.
First of all, I won´t review the choices that revolves around the matchmaking and dating in this reality TV series. For example when the singles decides to stop seeing someone. Yes, some choices surprised me. But it´s their lives and their choices. And nowadays you can also edit almost everything.
I think that it´s good, healthy and developing to learn new things. And yes, "Indian Matchmaking" taught me some new things about the Indian culture and dating. I got inspiration for my own writing projects and yes, of course I´m very thankful for that.
I like Sima Taparia. In my opinion she says many wise things, listens to her clients and has a patient and gentle personality.
Do I miss something in this reality TV series? Yes, it would be very interesting to see what happened with all of the cast members. Who is still single? Did someone get engaged, married or dumped? Has someone moved or got another job? I was very curious. Therefore I did some online research. All in all, I think that this is enjoyable and I recommend it.
Les demoiselles de Rochefort (1967)
Colors, dancing, music and love!
"The Young Girls of Rochefort" is, if you ask me, a celebration of colors, dancing, music and love. This movie entertained me quite a lot. The choreography is very nice in my opinion and yes, the music is great too.
I can see the strong bond between this movies main characters Delphine and Solange. And that isn´t weird because the actresses are/were sisters in real life, not just in this movie. They, and the rest of the cast and crew, did a very good job.
I´m glad that I watched this movie. I would like to rewatch it some day in the future and yes, I do recommend this to people who wants a chance to be a little happier.
Bridgerton (2020)
So far, so great!
No, I haven´t read any of the Bridgerton books. But I have understood that there are some differencies between this TV series and the books. I really want to read the books because I think that "Bridgerton" is a charming, well written, enjoyable, amazing and nice TV series! Usually the famous saying goes: so far, so good. But I must repeat the title of my review: so far, so great!
People might have some huge issues with this TV series modern interpretation. But I´m perfectly fine with that. The first and second season of Bridgerton have made a lasting impression on me. I have rewatched some scenes circa 50 times. Yes, you read that correctly. Lady Whistledown is my profile picture on my Netflix account. Why? Because I am a huge fan of writing. I have also watched and liked "The Netflix Afterparty - Bridgerton".
Do I have a favorite character in this TV series? Maybe Lady Whistledown, Daphne or Kate? But honestly I must say that I like many of the characters in "Bridgerton".
I´m looking forward to the third season very much! I hope that it will be as great as the first two seasons. Fingers crossed.
Delivery Man (2013)
Nice, heartwarming and a bit funny.
David Wozniak is a man who doesn´t take many important things seriously. His life changes when he meets a lawyer. He informs David, who has been a sperm donor, that he is the biological father to 533 children! And now, a couple of years later, 142 of those teenage children wants to know their biological fathers identity. In order to do so they take the case to the court.
Davids friend is also his lawyer. He hands an big envelope to David. Information about the 142 children is in it. David opens the envelope and a journey begins.
I must say that I giggled with David in some scenes. I liked Vince Vaughns performance. In my opinion he made David quite likeable, warm and friendly.
All in all I think that this movie is nice, heartwarming and a bit funny. No big, long and loud laughs from me, but I don´t regret watching this movie.
Beautiful Disaster (2023)
A fight for love.
I watched this movie recently at my hometown cinema. Technically I wasn´t alone, but I didn´t know any of the other moviegoers.
No, I haven´t read the book "Beautiful Disaster". I liked the movie trailer. Therefore I decided to watch this movie. I think that Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner delivered very good performances. He stars as Travis, a typical bad boy who likes to flirt with girls and fight in underground matches. She stars as Abby, a typical good girl with a difficult past. One night before a match they bet on one thing. If Travis loses he won´t have sex for a month. If he wins Abby has to stay with him for the same amount of time.
It doesn´t come as a huge surprise when the main characters starts to fall for each other. If I have understood this movie correctly it seems to be loosely based on the book. Maybe I will read it and create my own personal opinion. All in all I liked this movie very much.
Mon oncle (1958)
I didn´t laugh.
Gérard Arpel is a boy who lives with his parents in a quite big, very white and, at the time, ultra-modern home. Gérards uncle Monsieur Hulot likes to spend time with him. And yes, the feeling is mutual.
I watched this movie on SVTplay at my parents´ house. Unfortunately "My Uncle" didn´t make me laugh or giggle. I could watch the whole movie, but I don´t want to rewatch this. Some scenes were quite boring, colorless and too long in my opinion. It´s not likely that I would highly recommend this movie to anyone. But if you are a huge and devoted fan of Tati you could enjoy this. I don´t know if I would like to watch another movie by Tati. But I can say that it won´t happen anytime soon.
Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022)
Genuine, interesting and nice.
Nancy has barely had a sex life. Now she is a widow and wants to have fulfilling sex. Therefore she hires the young handsome sex worker Leo.
I did enjoy this movie. "Good Luck to You, Leo Grande" doesn´t have an extremely great amount of nudity. And in my opinion that was okay. The story is genuine, interesting and nice if you ask me. Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack are a strong, beautiful and brave duo. They captured and kept my undivided attention. Their characters are simply great.
Some people might say that older people can´t or shouldn´t have sex. But this movie shows that they can. And to me that feels good and liberating. And yes, I highly recommend this movie. I didn´t regret watching this.
Sex Tape (2014)
I must say that some scenes were very funny!
Annie and Jay are a married couple with two children. One night, when their children are at her parents home, she gets an idea. Why not make a sex tape with her husband? Jay agrees to that suggestion. When all is said and done one thing doesn´t go as planned. The sex tape accidentally ends up on other iPads. And not just any iPads. They belong to Annies parents and her boss, Annies and Jays best friends and their mailman.
Jay and Annie decide to collect the iPads quickly. And that proves to be quite difficult.
I must say that some scenes in this movie were very funny! At least for me. I want to make it clear that I laughed with the characters. In other words not at them. If I was forced to choose the funniest scene it would be the one where we meet Jack Blacks character. Even now, when I´m writing this review, I do giggle a bit when I think about that scene.
I suggest that you give this movie a chance! It might surprise you in a good way. And yes, I´m completely honest.
Dopamin (2022)
Same actresses, two different characters.
I have watched and reviewed "Seaside Hotel" and "Skam/Shame". I do love those TV series, but "Fatal Injections" is just a little interesting, maybe 35 % if you ask me.
I know that Amalie Dollerup and Josefine Frida Pettersen usually delivers a great performance. But I think that Maiken was a bit gullible while Ida was a controlling, manipulative, attention seeking, seductive and unpleasant liar! She must have planned everything she was going to do!
But some scenes actually managed to make me feel sorry for Maiken, her fiancé Jacob and their co-worker Anette. Would I highly recommend this TV series to everyone? No, I wouldn´t.
Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022)
A toast to fashion!
When I was a child me, my parents and my sister visited Disneyland Paris. But I haven´t been in the actual city yet. Therefore it´s nice for me to watch movies, TV series and documentaries that are partly set in Paris.
I watched "Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris" at my hometown cinema. I wasn´t alone because one of my friends was there too. I must say that I´m a fan of Ada. She´s a hard working cleaning lady with one wish. She wants to buy a couture dress from Dior. And that proves to be quite difficult for her. But she doesn´t want to throw in the towel! And I admire her for that.
The costumes, especially the Dior dresses, are simply exquisite! And no, that didn´t come as a surprise to me. I say thank you and merci to this movies cast and crew! You did a great job!
Britt-Marie var här (2019)
Does he want a housekeeper or a wife?
No, I haven´t read the book "Britt-Marie was here" by Fredrik Backman. And the only sport I can watch with interest is figure skating. But I must say that I like Britt-Marie. She´s a hard working, strong and determined woman. She doesn´t give up when it comes to her work at the recreation center. She learns new things, especially about football as the team´s coach.
And yes, I do have a question regarding Kent, Britt-Maries cheating husband. Does he want a housekeeper or a wife? In my opinion he takes Britt-Marie for granted. She needs love and appreciation from him, not infidelity!
Yes, I do recommend watching this movie. Personally I liked this and I want to read the book.
Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot (1953)
A postcard is brought to life.
The Swedish title for this movie is "The Holiday Saboteur". I completely understand why. Mr Hulot reminds me of Gunnar Papphammar, a Swedish character who was portrayed by Gösta Ekman. Papphammar and Hulot have the same clumsiness and good intentions.
"Monsieur Hulot´s Holiday" is like a postcard that has been brought to life. You don´t get a lot of information about the characters. But I must say that I, in spite of that, could watch this movie and like it. Some scenes made me giggle a bit, but not extremely much. Usually I tend to watch color films, but this one was quite nice.
Who would I recommend this movie to? Hm, I´m not 100 % sure. But if you hate black-and-white films you should avoid this one.
Så olika (2009)
The life puzzle.
Work, family, hobbies, love, social events, health and many other things. The life puzzle has a lot of pieces. And it isn´t always easy when you´re trying to put those pieces together.
And if you, like this movies character Lotta, are a politician your every footstep, decision and image can complicate the life puzzle. I think that Lotta is strong and determined. She really tries to be good in many aspects. And yes, the journalists can be real idiots sometimes.
Lotta and her younger sister Sanna have some similarities. They both struggle when it comes to the romantic love life. While Lotta starts to fall for her political rival Sanna, who works as a TV producer, has a, quite complicated, relationship with her boss.
"Så olika" means "So different". The title refers to the two sisters differences. Sanna is a wild, honest and brave person. I think that it was interesting to follow Lotta, Sanna and the rest of the people in their life. Some scenes were a bit predictable. Not all scenes but some of them.
All in all I think that "So different" is a good movie. I can recommend it warmly.
Down with Love (2003)
Clever comedy!
I recently bought a copy of "Down with Love". I visited a flea market and the DVD was extremely cheap! I rewatched this movie last night. In my opinion this movie is a clever comedy. It has a story that is built up with great strength. Some scenes made me laugh, other made me giggle. Why? Because they were truly funny if you ask me.
I also liked the costumes in "Down with Love", especially the female main characters Barbaras and Vikkis. They wear feminine, beautiful and elegant clothes. The music is also likeable in this movie. It fits with the spirit of the 1960´s.
I have no regrets about buying a copy of "Down with Love". I will rewatch it again and again! And yes, that is a promise.
Les parapluies de Cherbourg (1964)
A colorful explosion!
The bright colors are absolutely everywhere in "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg"! It´s a colorful explosion! Personally I don´t mind because I enjoy bright colors. But if you hate bright colors you should avoid this movie.
The main couple reminds me a little of Romeo and Juliet. The young and sweet Geneviève and the handsome auto mechanic Guy share tender, romantic and fun moments together. But Genevièves mother, who runs a umbrella boutique with her daughter, is not pleased with the relationship. And that creates some problems.
I did enjoy this movie. I think that it, even today, has a great value. The singing parts are nice to hear. They didn´t annoy me one single bit. I didn´t regret watching "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg". It was an memorable and overall positive experience.
Spionen (2019)
Thrilling, well written and very good!
The Norwegian author Iselin Theien wrote a biography about Sonja Wigert, a talented actress and, under World War II, a spy. This movie is based on that book. No, I haven´t read the book, but after watching this movie I would like to read it.
In my opinion "The Spy" is a thrilling, well written and very good story. Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and Rolf Lassgård delivers, if you ask me, strong and believable performances.
I think that the cast and crew can be very proud of this movie. If I tell you the only thing I missed it would be a spoiler. And I really don´t want to reveal any spoilers in this movie. I highly recommend watching this!
Buss till Italien (2005)
Getting away from everyday life.
In "Bus to Italy" Livia Millhagen stars as the church choir leader Ylva. The choir is preparing for their bus trip to Domodossola, Italy. While being there the plan is to do a choir performance.
Ylva is, quite unhappily, married. She seeks more joy and pleasure in her life. She is also the narrator in this movie. And through that we learn a bit more about some of the choir members. For example we meet Ylvas friend Ia who is a curious person, the very lonely Marianne, the quite impolite teacher Lillemor and the two out-spoken teenagers Erik and Ruben. And what do all of these characters have in common? My answer would be that all of them are trying to get away from the everyday life.
More of the Italian culture, for example the food and the language, would have been nice in this movie. But all in all I liked "Bus to Italy".
Elvis (2022)
Why didn´t this movie win any Oscar?
I saw this movie at my hometown cinema with some of my friends. I am not an Elvis expert, but I know quite much. I liked this movie very much! No, it isn´t always historically accurate. But we have to remember that this isn´t a documentary.
I did some research when it came to "Elvis" and the Oscars. I must say that I was shocked when I read that this movie didn´t win any Oscar! I could barely believe my own eyes! I think that Austin Butler delivered a great acting performance! The voice, the hair, the clothes - I could actually see a vivid version of Elvis.
Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors. But for me it felt unusual to see him cast as the bad guy. I have seen him play the nice guy more often. But I think that he did a good job here.
I have watched some of Baz Luhrmanns movies. He seems to have a taste for dramatic, colorful, big and bold stories with strong emotions. And in my opinion "Elvis" follows the same style.
All in all I would recommend watching this movie. I didn´t regret watching it. Nor did I leave the cinema before the movie ended. The cast and crew did a good job!
Dzisiaj spisz ze mna (2023)
I wanted to like this more.
I was hoping for longer sex scenes, much more clarity and a few more flashbacks. I´m barely informed about Ninas and Janeks past! Why did they break up in the first place? Do they feel some kind of sexual tension that lasts very long? What future can Nina and Janek have? I must say that the script could have been better. Or was this movie loosely based on the script?
My dear parents have traveled to Iceland. They were happy with that journey. But what made Maciek go to Iceland? Business, pleasure, the gorgeous Icelandic nature or something else? Or was it just convenient for the attempt of the story lines development? If you ask me I would answer: the nature and yes.
All in all, this wasn´t the worst movie I´ve watched. It was tolerable, but not exceptionally great.
Kärlek & anarki (2020)
I am a huge fan of this!
I really want a third season of "Love & Anarchy". I have enjoyed every episode. I have also rewatched some scenes. If you ask me this TV series has great acting, especially when it comes to the main characters and the supporting roles. I don´t have a favorite character because I like so many of them.
In the first season we meet Sofie. She is married and has two children. She works as a consultant and gets a job at a publishing house. Her assignment is to modernize the company. While she is there she meets Max, the young IT tech guy. After a slightly embarassing incident Sofie and Max starts to challenge each other. The challenges are quite big and daring. I don´t have the courage to try all of their challenges. Not surprisingly Sofie and Max soon begins to develop feelings for each other.
In the second season Sofie and her husband has separated. She tries to regain control of her life. That proves to be quite difficult. Her feelings for and the challenges with Max has, sort of, fallen behind.
"Love & Anarchy" is also well written and quite unique. I can´t say that I miss anything in this TV series. I think that the cast and crew can be proud of this. If a third season comes I hope that it will be as fantastic as the previous seasons.
Mon bébé (2019)
Letting go.
If you ask me I must say that "Sweetheart" is a beautiful, touching and strong movie. I absolutely believe that many people can relate to "Sweetheart".
In the movie we are introduced to Héloïse, a single mother to three teenagers. Héloïses youngest child Jade is about to leave her home and study in Canada. I can see and feel that Héloïse is having difficulties when it comes to letting go of Jade for a while. Héloïse faces a kind of identity change. Who will she become when her youngest child moves? I think that "Sweetheart" portrayed all of this in a personal, genuine and nice way. The flashbacks were interesting to watch. Maybe they could have been a tiny bit longer.
I didn´t regret watching "Sweetheart". You should give it a chance too! For me it didn´t matter that I´m not a parent. "Sweetheart" was still rewarding to watch. Merci to the cast and crew!
