Very problematic and still awesome!
First of all, I am not a fan of the games so I'm not standing for a bad movie only for childishness just like DC fanboys constantly do.
the movie has a screwed up rhythm, it remember us the Star Wars prequels which has several very short scenes alternating between the cores during the film takes place many things get weird just because it is too rushed, the film has two hours could have been bigger and better care, we ended up with some kind of weird cuts and even some scenes that make no sense in that context.
Other than that, It's GREAT - Although all the editing and Rhythm problems you get excited all the time, the action scenes and the look of the characters were very good, despite the CGI. All characters are likable and the story is simple and makes sense, as it should. Only the final can be disappointing but only because the film was thought (most likely) as the first part of a series, I do not know if it will happen or not but I'm much more confident in a possible result of that was when the first film was announced.
It IGNORED the whole Original Trilogy
The film invalidates all classic trilogy's events only to be a remake of A New Hope. After 30 years since the events that occurred in the previous films (chronologically), things remain the same:
1 - Once again there is no longer a Jedi in the galaxy 2 - The Empire (now under another name) is still stronger than the rebels / New Republic 3 - A former Jedi disgusted switched sides and throw the galaxy in darkness
Here, the director JJ Abrams (who had already made a "tribute film" that disregards the previous events in Star Trek) reform A New Hope with even more mistakes than the original, between incoherent coincidences and and trivialization of the use of Force, the director can deliver a nostalgic film, very beautiful and well done technically and even with good performances and characters that emulate the older protagonists, but that does not risk to be authorial leaving this audacity only to be dishonest with what was presented previously yet he brought the classic main characters to give a familiar experience(Exactly like Leonard Nimoy)
