Great foundation for a thriller that simmers not boils
24 March 2024
The build up through the first 4-5 episodes lines this series up for a great tale that leaves one expecting more than it delivers.

The story relies on flashbacks and jumps to present to build a very good narrative. This narrative builds to a few interesting twists and flashpoints that becomes slower towards the ending episodes.

Some epic and stunning scenes however make this a worthwhile watch. Casting is very good, performances are believable and the entire story leaves one hoping to see more of this story to be made by the end.

Definitely a great Sci Fi offering mixed with mystery and fantasy with a dose of factual and even historical context. *(referencing the WOW! Signal, and starting during the cultural revolution in China).

Obviously targeted towards nerds and sci fi geeks with heavy references to Nano tech, particle physics and astronomical science fields interwoven with dimensional theoretic research and Virtual reality gaming. Well made and at times intensely interesting, while having long moments of slow dialogue. Overall worth a 7/10.

Highly underrated Series that deserved a few more seasons
2 February 2023
Cleverly written, brilliantly acted and atypical typecast austen tayshus characters make this an instant underground Cult Classic that needs a serious reboot. Has some hidden tributes to a LOT of classic Sci Fi references *(If you actually find them..) Since I randomly found this series online I now watch it at least twice a year every year since, and it always gets a laugh.

The animation style is unique and well stitched with acted vision which at first is a bit quirky but very quickly proves itself as very clever and really well done in it's own right.

The comedy and humour is applicable from kids to grandparents, and if you find a person who doesn't find this show funny, chances are they have no humour at all as a person.

The characters definitely grow on you as you watch each episode, and by the end you are always left wanting more. They all are adorable except for that weird mustached androgynous looking one, who is completely hilarious. However the way it's acted, written and delivered plus the combination of ingenuity and freshness that makes it work so very well and distinguishes this Series as an absolute classic of Modern Art Animation of all time.

Definitely clever stuff.

Bring on Season 2 and 3 I say. Lol In the very least, make this available on DVD> I would definitely buy it!! Worth the ten stars.

Captivating ride into the depths of the Vatican... and beyond
12 November 2022
The war between God and Evil is on. Ninja nuns with a divine power and a kickass attitude hold the line and maintain the balance against the power of darkness.

I am a huge fan of angel stories and all things related to biblical storylines so I was very surprised when I only recently learned of this series. After watching a few episodes I found it was slow to pick up the pace, but by episode 5 I was invested in the outcome and had become interested in the characters.

Well written and well thought out, definitely a great series and worth recommending after seeing the first season. Mixes fact and fantasy well with a blurred line between the two. A very pleasant surprise and I am looking forward to Season 2.

A splendourous tale that evokes the imagination
23 September 2022
5 Episodes in, and there is little disappointment. Slow to start, however the imagery and the storyline would certainly make both Tolkien and Peter Jackson both proud.

After reading the naysayers opinion I am firm in the conviction this has both the depth and character needed to shine as a Prequel in it's own right. Regardless of the negative opinions. Casted well, written with forethought and loaded with imaginative seeds the episodes keep delivering on great storytelling which is a hallmark of the overall lore.

Evocative imagery and stirring cinematography makes this a firm classic. Creative scripting and evolving essence worthy of LOTR canon. Well worth the time to watch again and again. Definitely an 8 star value show worth the time watching.

A funtime movie with corn, cheese and Samosas.
12 September 2022
Went to see this at the cinema with subtitles and so glad I did. Is it cheesy? Sure. Is it Corny? Yupp. Is it overblown with CGi. You bet. Does it work? Well yes, if you realise the movie is not a 2 hr 33 minute shampoo commercial and is in itself a mix of Indian version of X-Men meets love story Bollywood style. Make no mistake, this movie at times also almost pokes fun at itself, but is a worthwhile watch, mixing fantasy and mythology into a fun semi serious action adventure.

Cinematography is sometimes overdone by using far too many camera angles for certain scenes which leaves the viewer a bit dizzy to focus on the content.

Some scenes are so over the top, you can't help but to laugh. Some scenes use pop culture references to good effect.

I myself feel it could have done better introducing more of the "astraverse" via the Vedic stories and by focusing on setting the stage for the forthcoming trilogy than focusing on the romance aspect of the two main protagonists of the film. Never the less, it is well casted, very well choreographed and I am definitely looking forward to Part 2. Special mention to Shah Rukh Khan, who is awesome as "The Scientist", a seasoned actor that lends value to the film overall. Recommended viewing particularly for the music and dancing which is well done. 6/10 is a fair score.

Better than expected.. Cowboy BeBop meets the Wild West.
31 July 2022
The flashbacks while opening up the background story are illuminating, they detract from the main flow of the story. This said, the performances, the casting and the plot lines / motivations have been better than expected. Great acting, surprising twists, I would say this is almost Cowboy BeBop for the Wild West, as there are a lot of interesting synchronicites in the overall eight part story.

Domenic Cooper was great as the anti hero. Douglas Booth, Paterson Joseph and Travis Fimmel all deserve a mention as they make their characters believable and grow accordingly on the viewer. Recommended with a warning about the gore. Very Tarantino.

THIS GUY USED TO BE FUNNY.... 10 YEARS AGO
1 June 2022
Repeat Rehash Rinse Repeat. That's now the regular cycle of every episode. Once upon a time this guy was a genuine comedian. Now just a low effort repeater of media agendas. Avoid. Sad and embarrassing.

Classic Comedy done very well. Intelligent Humour ahead
18 May 2022
Awesome series with some awesome casting choices and very clever scripting. This is a great series that never needed to so hard woke that it did. The carry-on innuendo was pulling off the sly giggles while the sharp wit of dialogue provides brain food of the humorous kind.

Character development is very clever, interplay and delivery is well thought out, and brilliantly executed and the CGi scenery is magnificently colourful. I see this could almost be the start of a very successful franchise.

Loved the cameos and had a belly full of laughs all the way through. Highly recommended.

Takes a while to explain itself but a fun ride of a film
18 May 2022
This is the sort of film you need to watch a few times to actually "get it" and soak in all the subtext missed from the first 2 times watching.

The film has more potential than it allows itself to explore. That which borders on deep Existential personal journey allows itself to be dosed with woke and soak with the basic premise moving from the genre of "sci fi multiverse" to "teen emo angst" story rather rapidly, and not in a subtle way.

Big fan of Michelle Yeoh since the 80's and definitely this one gets to showcase her multitude of acting scope. Worth watching more or less, but more for the Martial Arts display and less for the Rattatoie references. *

Great adaptation with hints of Firefly
20 November 2021
Cowboys, western themes mixed with Sci Fi, Bounty Hunters done with ostentatious flair. That is Cowboy Bebop. Witty, charming and while it is clever, sometimes the camp is overdone. Smart humor, great CGi and worthy of many more episodes.

Very Interesting and Bizarre Story
9 February 2021
Every film maker makes a movie to tell a story, and this one here is a very clever story that leaves the viewer asking questions throughout. Great visual interplay and cinematography that tells the story effectively. Clever concepts and well delivered on screen,

Great balanced Mix of Comedy Sci Fi Drama Action Adventure
9 February 2021
Movies like this set the standard for others. Many original concepts many clever tributes rolled into a warm and fun ride.

Great fun movie with many salutes to the Sci Fi genre. A great fun ride that even has a wisecracking profane robot as it's crew. Sometimes it is paced a little too fast, but overall very enjoyable... Contains elements of The Expanse, Raised by Wolves, of Iron Sky and obviously FIREFLY. Sure to entertain any sci fi fan. Won't be at all surprised to see a Sequel to this one... Bound to be a classic.

1st Season - Decent buildup Nice delivery Feel Good Series
2 October 2020
Definitely worth the watch. For UK soccer fans and American football enthusiasts alike. Combines and blends the UK and American perspective of sports nicely.

Well written series acted well enough but the shining gem is the character development and interplay with the lead roles, definitely well casted and greatly executed. Acting is believable and well produced.

Accompanying soundtrack is really well thought out and often brilliantly timed with the entire season of scripting created and presented with inspirational results. Follows not only the coaches experience, but the players, fans, managers and owners intermeshed like a soap opera with ego bravado and honour thrown in for a delightful viewing experience for the entire season. Recommended.

After 10 Episodes in the first season, Ted Lasso is on my "Look For" List.

After watching Season 1 and now Season 2, this show just keeps getting better and better. Scripting is much more developed, acting is clever and even though the plots are thin they still deliver. This is one show that keeps getting better and better.

Season 2 delivers a LOT of laughs and well timed classic British comedy.

Definitely worth a watch.

Clever Series More than lets on..... Those who know, KNOW
22 February 2020
The most clever thing about this series is it was made with someone on the inside. Clearly. GCHQ and NSA never ever looked as intelligent, as advanced or more transparent, never liked Schwimmer previously, never liked any of the supporting cast until this series. (Despite seeing some) Very clever interpolation between American and UK agencies given legs and obvious licence. Funny in parts but a wealth of undiscovered potential. Often lacking in scripting, the acting delivers, Casting SPOT-ON 100%, and the Directing is clever, Producing and editing is faultless.

Close to actuality, much of the Agency ironies no doubt lost.

Regardless of that Delivery and end result is Hollywood Washed and therefore tainted with formulaic Screenplay where it could have been more original and more inventive or orignal.

Classic Agency comedy AKA GETSMART for 2020. Worth an 8/10 After watching all six episodes.

Could have been More. So much more.
20 February 2020
Massive under utilization of Hugh Lauries comedic delivery style and an over reliance of formulaic comedy writing means the potential for this series never reaches it's possible pinnacle and as a result it sadly often misses it's mark. Few funny moments overall relying much more on character interplay as a point of delivery does not really hold water for long.

Has a lot of great potential but ends up feeling like a Hollywood version of Red Dwarf meets Titanic trying to be a Star Trek Voyager in a Comedy style. However never seems to cut it's own unique niche. After watching an episode, leaves you feeling like you tasted diet water crackers without any flavour or anything satisfying after consuming. Some episodes are like flat lemonade without the lemon flavour. I waited five episodes for this to find it's feet and sadly I am still waiting, just a shame really.

Enjoyable mix of Black Mirror storyline meets X Files
16 February 2020
I really enjoyed this movie as it leaves the viewer wondering how what and why for most of the film. A good blend of suspense, fantasy, horror and drama all blended into an interesting yet curious storyline which goes a bit beyond believability, but still draws you in.

Regardless enjoy it for what it is, adventure action aplenty with a dose of fantasy thrown in for good measure. Some fine moments as well as some cheesy ones balance out and all in all a movie worthwhile watching. Definitely a strong 7/10. I enjoyed the brief yet short tribute to the original at the end, definitely leaving itself open to a sequel or two.

Very interesting and thrilling
15 February 2020
Up to the fifth episode of the first season and loving it. A good mix of Maori lore mythology history and story. Casting is really well done, cinematography is brilliant. Character development has been very clever showing depth and thought by the writers producers and directors.

Cultural value is exceptional with a very good supporting soundtrack.

Very clever plot lines and execution of delivery of content has been above average for New Zealand content. Loved the original movie and also loving the storylines in this saga which is very well acted with powerful content and with some haunting performances. I can definitely see this extending in seasons as the tales continue. High production value awesome location settings and quality writing makes this one to see and enjoy definitely.

Draws you in as it goes on
29 December 2019
As I'm not much of a murder mystery fan personally I felt the first half of the movie kind of dragged on for me and I never expected to be so drawn into it as I was.

As the plot thickens, so does the intrigue, as does the interest as to what the heck is really going on. By the end of the film I walked away loving it and intend to watch it a second time. Clever movie well acted with interesting plot twists galore.

Low grade intellect TV made for low grade TV intellect viewers
27 November 2019
Poor substance television, disposable viewing and bad jokes do not make an interesting show. Badly scripted barely produced almost amateurish attempt at current affairs comedy that misses the mark on so many levels. In a truly intelligent world this type of TV would be prohibited for broadcast. Narcissistic hosts attempt to create news and commentary on current news stories that are truly beyond their depth of understanding.

Summarised in three words: An absolute embarrassment.

The action and adventure continues with this well made story
26 November 2019
The IP MAN series has certainly created some classic movies lately and while this one has the name it can not be compared to the others, for the reason that this one stands alone. The cinematography and quality of filming is stunning and beautiful. Choreography of fight scenes is very good for the movie quality.

Casting is very good and character development has been done with a thoughtful process that leaves the viewer invested in the synopsis and the plot.

The classic storyline although familiar in Chinese cinema has it's own flair and style that makes it a classic in it's own right. Not fair to be compared to any other in the IP man series.

The lead actor Michael Tong brings a grace and quality to the role and is superb as IP man, and the lead actress as the gang boss girlfriend delivers a very strong supporting performance.

Very well made Chinese cinema that brings traditional story telling and great visuals to the screen once again. Stands alone in its own regard and well worth 8 out of 10 stars.

Not as bad as It looks
25 November 2019
I read the reviews here before viewing so was expecting a B Grade Cheese fest. The plot was pretty thin the synopsis barely palatable, the cinematography was just about random, but having said that it also does have an endearing quality of originality and character that leaves it's own indelible mark.

Won't win any awards, however not as bad as it may first appear. Pretty good effort by the film makers and actors alike.

No activity has definitely grown with a life of it's own. From the first US season seeded and scripted primarily from the Aussie version it now very much stands on it's own in Season 3. Great scripting, casting is very good. delivery is classic, and the humour is getting better every season. Clever clever stuff. Season 3 is a strong 9/10.

Sometimes more fun than the actual episode!
18 November 2019
Usually "reactions to"... type videos are limited to 2 minutes on a video server website and good for a short laugh. However 90 Day Fiance Pillow Talk is a reactions show with a difference.

The reactions are from past members and members family and friends and shows them in their own intimate home environment and opens up their comments and reactions to the public. David and Anny are adorable. Tarik and Dean often hilarious without even trying. Alexei and Loren are so well matched and as well as the rest of the cast which varies season to season are always very amusing to watch. Fans of the show will definitely watch this as the entire "production" seems to be growing in audience and budgetary ways every year. Great solid production show and worth a watch.
