I saw it as a religious film. Not only for the end but for fine, wise reflection of vulnerability, fears and courage. For a sort of special poetry. And for the inspired performance of Valentin Novopolskij. A film reflecting the West from the perspectives of East people . Good portraits of characters, wise use of symbols and a precise message. A film about illusions and fears. A real good one and, maybe, useful for its bitterness and eye of hope.
El Cuento de las Comadrejas (2019)
It reminds so many things. The old plays about murders, the value of past, the clash between worlds and the force of oldness. And it makes that in admirable manner. So, just a delightful film, for beautiful performances, for seductive dialogues, for easy predictability and , no doubts, for the end.
Seductive animation, lovely message, great portrait of family, inspired parable. Not easy to define it but , no doubts, example of beautiful art. Short- just great , in high measure because the wind is familiar to each viewer and because something defines as experience - from ideal to reality- the final part of this short animation. So, part of us and great kick to remind or imagine experiences and memories.
The Curse of the Crying Boy (2019)
An old urban legend. A good actress giving fair role of mother . And the inspired constructed atmosphere. Nothing more but, obvious, enough for a very short film. Maybe , the resume from the first scenes represents the only not very good part.
The English Teacher (2020)
At first sigh, a simple story, interesting/touching twist , good performances and reasonable end. But , in essence, it is one of films defined by bitterness. One to feel, not define. This is the motif to feel something wrong in its architecture. Not as fault of director, story or actors but as a sort of anxiety from the first scenes to the last one. Short, a bitter short film.
The Healer (2019)
In clothes of medieval story, a contemporary problem, delicate-precise explored. A story about sufferance and compassion, the madness perceived from different angle and a gentle definition of a sort of special captivity and pain. Short, admirable work about frontiers and the healer giving the help to define the truth.
In this case, the sense of beautiful is only discovered in yourself. No definitions. Sure, the acting - and Jacques Gamblin is just amazing- , sure, Laetitia Casta, the real story, the palace itself, the cinematography, the story, the similitaries with near reality situations, the delicate humor, the old fashion slices . But the essential escapes to every word. A film as seed of a special state. A just beautiful one, in the most simple - convincing manner and the memories about Sagrada Familia.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
It is just lovely . And the motif is real simple - it reminds the 1980 spirit, it has great actors and a provocative story and, at each new view, it propose a different perspective. Many gifts and surprises from it. Each - great for its nuances and irony and wise developpement of stereotypes and the cool end. So, just lovely.
A Doll Distorted (2018)
Memories about past love. Isolation. A desire and its terrible consequences . And the great atmosphere of old fashion Gothic stories . Short, just impecable cinematography , reflecting each nuance of story .
God of the Piano (2019)
I saw it as admirable portrait of motherhood and teen life . Admirable performances, realistic image of ambition, bitter lesson about status of boomerang of sacrifices to a god , great for few profound beautiful scenes and giving the real fair end, it is more a kick to reflect than the Israeli film using familiar recipe. And it is a great virtue that.
Silent Night (1996)
At first sigh, a version of Snowman animation . Simple, touching, naif but working in decent manner. So, no surprises but a very nice small ice fairy and a good snowman, its lovely dance with the grandmother, the policemen and, sure, the little girl. So, just reasonable frame for classic carol story.
Le grand Meaulnes (1967)
If you know the book, the film is the fair answer to yours expectations. For performances, off course, for cinematography- just seductive- , for the grace and for the atmosphere - dreamy , delicate, seductive in profound sense. But, more important - it is magic. And this word has many senses in this case. Because it is just a film who you feel it as seed growing up, decades , in yourself , as memories. So, just special, memorable and so near to a personal experience.
Not comfortable but profound useful. Two men and the nuances of their relation. Bitter poetry, great craft, wise use of details and a powerful story accentued by performances. A story about loneliness, time, happiness and something who can be compassion or friendship form. Short, just admirable.
It is an experimentl movie. This is its basic virtue and sin. It propose impressions, suggestions but not exactly a story. And the warning is clear from the first scenes - the border between reality and dream did not exist. So, it can become boring or bizarre or not to expect or simple pretext for see two good looking young men or to remind slices from O Fantasma. But, in my case, it is only a beautiful film about desire, obscure links, obsessions and loneliness, about relation mother - son and about the other becoming part from yourself, about youth and sensuality, fetishes and life in poetic nuances. Nothing extraordinary but , for a part of public, I suppose, interesting, maybe seductive. For cinematography, not the last.
Sweet November (2001)
I love it
I love it. Without a precise motif. Maybe, because it is not the expected/ desired romantic comedy. Maybe for lead actors and their good to reasonable job. Nice story, nice embroidery around a classic song. Siblings, a dog, a lovely adventure and the desired White Christmas. Crumbs of fairy tales and just charming atmosphere.
Each film of Jan Svankmajer is, for me , kick to wake up. Tma/Svetlo/Tma is one par excellence. Because it reminds the universe of Alice in the small room and its significances, the build of a body , in which the hands are the first workers , the sexual organs before the clay as material for the body . So, a seductive parable , poetic and profound useful.
The twelve days of Christmas (1995)
Yes, it is far to be remarkable. But it is charming, the carol having only the status of decent pretext for a story with reflexes of old fairy tale, the love story reminding the seductive details of so many story like it. The drawings are far to be spectacular but it reminds the flavors of childhood of adults of today. So, nice.
It is a precious film for the fair manner to reflect a simple, delicat subject. For the great performance of Olafur Darri Olafsson. For the powerful traits of childhood. And for the portraits of the parents. A film for reflect as parent , single father or for define what is real important in the next reality. Short a definition of life.
The Bra (2018)
The first gift of the film is Miki Manojlovic. The fans of Kusturica know why. The second - in my case- Maia Morgenstern. The secod gift - the atmosphere, and the simplicity of story and flavours of so many books, films, near reality fragment. Not the last - the special poetry proposed by the absence of dialogue and the cinematography. And, sure, the boy, the great small boy. So, many gifts of this not ordinary but profound touching of Cinderella story.

Short, impossibility of dialogue in three admirable . examples.
A film for a large public. For the fine performances, for atmosphere and smart - touching-bitter embroidery of the story, for the great use of Greenwich Village as frame and, not less, for the admirable - delicate morale. Admirable characters, splendid job by Christian Campbell and John Paul Pitoc and not bad contribution of Tori Spelling . Basic virtue - just the lovely freshness.

The clever structure of story - maybe more than the story itself - , the Japanese pieces and the good fight scenes, the end too are the basic pieces of this charming short animation about teaching and glory and importance of the poor newxt other. a seductive short film reminding old values in the fair manner.
The Critic (2018)
At the first sigh, the end seems a mistake. It reduce the intensity of the tension and gives an easy solution. But...
It is a great short film because, in some measure, it becomes, scene by scene, be a film about its viewer. Secrets, low situations, past. All familiar and difficult to be confess.
A great star and and an interviewer and the fall of apparences. That is all but the film is just a gem for the cold and precise birth of details changing everything.
A film about truth , past and apparences . And , sure, about honesty to yourself.
