Blend S (2017)
The very definition of average
Blend S is a perfect show when you don't have anything to watch, it is an inoffensive comedy but I don't think this show stands out in any way.
Blend S doesn't do anything exceptionally terrible, while at the same time, it doesn't do anything exceptionally good, it's just stands in the middle in terms of quality.
The characters are really average, they are characters we have seen in other shows before, and they don't bring anything new to the table, their interactions and dynamics are also pretty bland.
The humor is really simplistic, it's just your typical slapstick comedy with over exaggeration humor we have seen a million times, and even some jokes have already been done better in the shows.
The animation is nice, but it doesn't stand out for the other shows out there.
However, that doesn't mean i totally despised this show, I've got a chuckle here and there and it was overall a very welcome experience, just not something that was really memorable or groundbreaking.
In conclusion, this anime doesn't do many things wrong to be called bad, but at the same time it doesn't do many things right to be called good either, it is just in the middle for me, and that's why I consider this show to be really mediocre.
Hagane no renkinjutsushi (2017)
a terrible adaptation of what is otherwise a great anime and manga
Everything that made the original so good is missing in this movie, there are so many things wrong with this movie that I don't know where to even begin.
First, I have to address that adaptations have to change many things from the source material in order to work for a movie, but every change in here didn't benefit the story in any way.
My main complaint is that this adaptation COMPLETELY missed the point of the original, which was the relationship between Edward and Alphonse, throughout their we see them that they care for one another and acting like real brothers, as well at showing their ways in getting the philosopher stone, in here however, their bond is almost non-existent, we hardly see them interact, heck, Alphonse isn't even in this movie that much, and is only Edward who does most of things in this movie.
There's even a scene in the original anime where Edward and Alphonse go to visit Dr. Marcoh, but in here is Edward and Winry who go to visit him
And speaking of the characters , almost all the characters were butchered, Edward went from being one of the most iconic anime characters of all time, to becoming one of the least memorable action protagonists ever, all of his characteristics that made him so unique are not present, and when they tried to give him some of the personality he had in the original show, it just felt forced.
Like I previously said, Al is barely in this film, he hardly does something that affects the plot, and like Edward, all of his main characteristics are not present.
The same goes with pretty much all of the characters in this film, Winry went from being cute and likable to annoying and unnecessary, Roy went from being a bad-ass to a generic military character, the homonculis went from being great villians to being generic one-dimensional villian, and the list goes on.
Other characters like Nina or Dr. Marcoh are in a short period of time that when they die we don't feel anything from them
At the same time, there are a lot of characters from the original that are missing, like King Bradley, Armstrong, Scar, Izumi, the other military men, Hoheimen, etc.
The acting from this film goes from acceptable to terrible, especially Edward and Winry, who overact in what are suppose to be serious moments, and both of them have no chemistry at all on screen
The pacing is atrocious, t condenses too much in just 2 hours that the movie feels boring, long and slow, while at the same time, the movie is a complete mess for trying to replicate the anime that it feels very disorganized.
The only things reason I didn't gave this movie a 1/10 is because a) the guy who played Hughes was spot on b) the CGI for Al was decent c) at least is not as bad as Death Note
Steamed Hams but it's an IMDb Review
Well, Seymour, I made it- despite your directions. Ah. Superintendent Chalmers. Welcome. - I hope you're prepared for an unforgettable luncheon. - Yeah. Oh, egads! My roast is ruined. But what if I were to purchase fast food and disguise it as my own cooking? Delightfully devilish, Seymour. Ah- Skinner with his crazy explanations The superintendent's gonna need his medication When he hears Skinner's lame exaggerations There'll be trouble in town tonight Seymour! Superintendent, I was just- uh, just stretching my calves on the windowsill. Isometric exercise. Care to join me? Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, Seymour? Uh- Oh. That isn't smoke. It's steam. Steam from the steamed clams we're having. Mmm. Steamed clams. Whew. Superintendent, I hope you're ready for mouthwatering hamburgers. I thought we were having steamed clams. D'oh, no. I said steamed hams. That's what I call hamburgers. You call hamburgers steamed hams? Yes. It's a regional dialect. - Uh-huh. Uh, what region? - Uh, upstate New York. Really. Well, I'm from Utica, and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "steamed hams. " Oh, not in Utica. No. It's an Albany expression. I see. You know, these hamburgers are quite similar to the ones they have at Krusty Burger. Oh, no. Patented Skinner burgers. Old family recipe. - For steamed hams. - Yes. Yes. And you call them steamed hams despite the fact that they are obviously grilled. Ye- You know, the- One thing I should- - Excuse me for one second. - Of course. Well, that was wonderful. A good time was had by all. I'm pooped. Yes. I should be- Good Lord! What is happening in there? - Aurora borealis. - Uh- Aurora borealis at this time of year at this time of day in this part of the country localized entirely within your kitchen? - Yes. - May I see it? No. Seymour. ! The house is on fire. ! No, Mother. It's just the northern lights. Well, Seymour, you are an odd fellow but I must say you steam a good ham. Help. ! Help.
Death Note (2017)
The only thing that shares with the source material is the title
Warning: long review ahead, I don't usually do this but this time I wanted to express myself
I understand that adaptations have to change some things from the source material in order to work in a full length feature film.
However most of the changes in Death Note 2017 were so drastic and so unnecessary that it feels like I'm watching another movie, it removes everything that made the original great and instead replaces it with American clichés and tropes that nobody asked for.
The biggest change was in the characters, especially with the main character Light Yagami, or in this case Light Turner.
The original Light was a character with a sense of morality that he thought he was always doing the right thing, in order to create a New World with no crime and then claim himself as the God of this New World in which he would judge every person if they deserved to die or not.
He was a prodigy, the smartest kid in his class, he made always the best decisions in order to execute his plans, he was always decided and he eliminated everyone who got in his way, he was basically perfect, and that what makes him an interesting character, not only that, but also when he showed us he was a complete psychopath and a total maniac.
Netflix Light on the other hand is the exact opposite, he was a normal teenager with no charisma, who always questions himself, always makes dumb decisions, and was really unlikable, he pretty much sucked as a protagonist, and was pretty annoying.
Doesn't help that the guy playing him did a terrible performance, I have nothing against Nate Wolff, but he pretty much sucked in this movie.
You could argue that the change was made for a more "realistic" take on Death Note, but doesn't matter in the end because the guy they went with was pretty much unbearable to watch, also I want to ask you a question, what would you rather watch, a show about a smart guy killing criminals while being chased by the best detective in the world or a 1 hour movie with a dumb teenager who doesn't know how to use the Death Note?
Speaking of L, I think his character was really weird in this movie, at first he kinda resembled the original L, with his quirks and the way he talks, but halfway trough the movie he completely changes after Watari is gone, he start to act like a complete different character that the movie already setup.
Ryuk was kinda OK I guess, Willem Dafoe was great but the way the character was written makes him look pretty different, when in the original he was pretty much the viewer who only saw Light's actions to entertain himself, while in here he pretty much manipulates Light to use the Death Note in the first place.
Mia was probably the worst character in the film (besides Light), and it's not because she was completely different from Misa (since I never really liked Misa) but it's because she is basically Kira, when in reality Light should be Kira, she was the one who manipulated Light trough out the whole movie, and she was pretty much the one who did Kira's actions.
Not only that she wasn't really likable either, she's pretty much your typical bad-ass female character, that doesn't obey the rules and does pretty much what she wants. The rest of the cast is pretty forgettable.
The story was awful, it was pretty much a mess from start to finish, Light gets the notebook an doesn't know how to use it properly, so he shows it to the girl that he likes for some reason, he later to starts killing criminals just because his mother was killed by one, and then L shows up, and doesn't do too much on the investigation, so when he came to the conclusion that Light was Kira it felt rushed and made no sense.
The romance in this movie was pretty much what ruined it for me, why would you add romance to Death Note? this is a psychological thriller, not a stupid teenage movie.
The climax of this movie also felt pretty rushed and was executed so bad, that it pretty much can confuse anyone, the last minutes of the film were the only thing that kinda resembled Death Note and the story ends with a cliffhanger so that we could get a sequel.
The pacing was atrocious, since they tried to include so much in so little time, and the editing was terrible too, with it's constant use of slow-motion for absolutely no reason, and the music selection was awful
The only thing that could have saved this movie was if it focused on the cat and mouse game between Light and L, since that what made the original interesting in the first place, but instead we focus on a shitty romance sub-plot and cringe dialogue.
Even as it's own thing it is still pretty bad, if you haven't seen the anime or read the manga, and you go to see this movie with no expectations, you still gonna be disappointed, since it has terrible characters, plot, editing, and dialogue
TL;DR: This movie was a mess, it fails both as an adaptation and as it's own thing, with terrible characters, badly written dialogue, bad acting, horror movie clichés, and a overall a lack of misunderstanding of what a makes a good film in the first place.
I would recommend reading the manga or watch the anime since they are so much better than this.
Little Witch Academia (2017)
A great anime series
This was one of the most fun and entertaining anime I have seen in a long time, instead of relying on fanservice or moe jokes, Little Witch Academia is a show with light humor and a really enjoyable quest of Akko trying to be like her idol Shiny Chariot, but constantly fails at it
One of the things I like about this show is the characters, most of the characters have really distinct and likable personalities, they may not be really complex characters, but they provide an enjoyable dynamics and interactions with each other, even Akko, who can get really get annoying some parts, still is really lovable and full of personality
Other thing I like about this show is the world-building, this show such a fascinating world that makes you interested in the different types of locations the characters explore
And finally one aspect I really like is the animation and art-style, the staff did an amazing job at recreating the magic and emotion of classic Disney, with such vibrant colors and amazing character animation and expressions, and although there are times when the animation quality can be inconsistent, the show has a really amazing animation, and probably the best in the studio library
However, the show isn't perfect, mainly because of pacing issues, that some characters aren't really developed as others, some writing issues, and that some episodes aren't as good as others
But despite all its flaws, it's still a great anime series full with likable characters, good writing and humor, and amazing animation, it may not be one of the best anime ever made, but is still a show I highly recommend
The bottom of the barrel for this terrible reboot
I hate the Powerpuff Girls 2016 with a passion, there isn't a single piece of media that I hate more than this show, is an insult not only to the original show and to the viewer's intelligence, and this episode is a great example of everything that is wrong with this show
The episode is that Blossom has always had the lead role in every school play alongside her crush Jared Shapiro, but in a new school play, Bubbles has been given the lead role alongside Jared and Blossom gets jealous, the plot is painfully cliché and unoriginal, this is the kind of trash you would see in teen dramas or school romances, not from an action cartoon like PPG, you could tell everything that is going to happen from start to finish, and it's not like this episode does anything new with this premise. One of my first criticism is that is episode is boring, nothing really interesting happens throughout the entire runtime, and then again, this is suppose to be a reboot to one of the most fun and extreme cartoons of the 90's, but instead focuses on more stupid and irrelevant stuff that no one cares
Second, the humor is terrible, all of the jokes were unfunny or didn't make sense, not to mention that some other jokes were taken out of other shows
Third, and the biggest problem with this episode, Blossom herself, she acts way too out of character, even by the reboot standards, she was always a smart leader, who cares too much about her sisters and to always make the right things, but in this episode, she even goes as far as to lock her sisters so that she can be with her bland love interest, what has this reboot done to this character?
Forth, the animation, good god, the animation in this show is awful, I know it is going to a even simpler style, but everything is so sloppy, especially in the final fight, where the movements are so slow that makes the fight scene so boring
And the final nail in the coffin, and the reason I wanted to review this episode in particular, is that involves a controversy with one of the show writers, Jake Goldman, who self-inserted himself as the character of Jared Shapiro, who at the same time wrote and voice, and he is the main love interest of Blossom, this is creepy, disgusting and unprofessional, I know that is suppose to be a in- joke, but it is done wrong, He didn't create PPG, so he has no rights to do such thing, let alone be a part of the main cast, I don't know what's worse, the fact that this reboot lets the writers make their creepy fanfics official, or the fact that Cartoon Netowrk approved this and pays them
Overall, a terrible episode, probably even the worst episode of the goddamn cartoon, and that is saying a lot, I just wish that this show was cancelled, but sadly that will never happen
Shark Exorcist (2015)
Oh. My. God
Wild Eye Releasing is probably the Dingo Pictures of Live-Action Movies, because after making terrible after terrible movie, somehow they managed to keep lowering the bar, to the point that their movies are a disgrace to indie filmaking.
After watching The Amazing Bulk, I never thought that something will top it as the worst movie ever, but somehow this piece of sh*t, manages to beat The Amazing Bulk in every single level of awful, to the point that is impossible that someone made a movie this bad.
Every word I can describe Shark Excorcist is negative: There is basically no story, he dialogue is dumb, the movie doesn't have a structure, some scenes don't add anything, the acting is terrible, the camera work is beyond unprofessional, the sound work is awful, the soundtrack is sh*t, there are basically no characters, the CGI is atrocious, the editing is bad, EVERYTHING IS SO DAMN WRONG.
There's nothing good to save about this movie, it's not even one of those movies that are so bad they're good, this one is so bad that is just BAD.
This one of those that I will give a 0/10, because it isn't a movie, but since IMDb doesn't have a 0 rating, there you go 1/10.
Worst Movie I have seen so far.
Worst Game Ever Made
This is probably the worst game of all time, it's even worse than Superman 64 and E.T for the Atari 2600, everything in this games is done horribly, there's nothing good about it, and here's why
-The graphics are terrible, the game has a horrible presentation, that is painful to look at it
-The music is horrible, this game has probably the worst soundtrack in a game ever, it will hurts your ears of how terrible it is
-this is not even a game, the only goal is to pick a bus and move to left to right, that's it, there's no challenge, no difficulty, no replay value, and there is no fun, it lacks what makes a good game
Conclussion: everything is horrible in this game, the graphics, the music, the game play, everything, why they release this thing? it's bullshit, it's not a game at all, it shouldn't even exists, f**k this game
Rating: 1/10 (heck even a 0/10 because it doesn't have content in it)
"A good example of how NOT make a game in general"
Sonic 25th Anniversary Party (2016)
Sonic didn't deserve a party like this
It's Sonic's 25th anniversary, and so SEGA decided to do a party at San Diego to celebrate it with the fans, now keep in mind that this is a review of the stream and not the party itself, because I couldn't attend it, and I have to say that the stream was awful, it was full of technical problems such as audio issues with a constant buzzing, a cringeworthy dancing with a guy in a Sonic costume next to other two guys dancing to a Chao Dance mix, terrible video quality and bad organization, sometimes the audio will cut out and the camera will have a lower quality, the Crush40 was OK but sometimes they will let the crowd sing but they didn't knew the lyrics and will ended up being bad.
the only things that I liked were the two new games that they announced: Sonic Mania and Project Sonic 2017, the 2nd season of Sonic Boom and Sonic in LEGO Dimensions, but other than that, this party was a trainwreck filled with a constant buzzing, terrible camera work and a bad organization that only made the image of the Sonic franchise look even worse.
P.D: I'm reviewing this event as a reviewer but not as a fan, because if I will review it as a Sonic fan I will gave it a 2 or a 3 out of 10, because they were a lot of things I really liked about this party, but still, I have to accept the facts that this was a terrible livestream and that Sonic deserved better.
The Worst Episode of El Reviewer Random ever
I like El Reviewer Random, he is one of my favorites youtubers of all time, but in my opinion, this is his worst episode yet, and the reason is because it's unbearable to watch, they overreact too much, and all the jokes they said aren't funny. El Sr. Alga is so annoying in this episode, he screams too much and complains at everything, also this episode is stupidly long, to the point that is impossible to watch it completely without getting annoyed or bored out.
The only reason I gave this episode a 4 instead of a 1, it's because this was one of El Reviewer Random early videos and I can understand that you will make mistakes in your first videos, but other than that, don't watch this episode, and instead watch the good ones.
The Amazing Bulk (2012)
I've never seen a movie where every aspect is wrong
The Amazing Bulk may be the worst movie ever made, even worse than Saving Christmas or Kod Adi K.O.Z, and here's why
the story doesn't make any sense, there are some many things that don't make sense, and there are many sub plots, that not only are bad, but don't connect with the plot at all.The dialogue in this is movie is terrible, the writer must have take a giant turd on the script to make it this bad,and the whole story is a rip-off of The Increidble Hulk
the actors don't know what acting is, they make their performance so bad, that makes the acting of Troll 2 and The Room look good in comparison
Visual Effects: 1/10
MY GOD, the visual effects of this movie are AWFUL, not only is unbearable to watch, but all is filmed on green screen or in random websites that the director found, it wasn't better to film it in real life environments?, and also the characters models are terrible (like Bulk, a monkey, a dog, Robin Hood)
I just going to resume with this, all the characters are one dimensional or annoying
the editing of this horrible, the transition scenes are poorly made, the characters don't feel like there are in the backgrounds, the are scenes that doesn't make sense and don't have connection with the plot
Conclusion: The Amazing Bulk is maybe the worst movie of all time, everything about it is wrong the acting, writing, directing, editing, visual effects, characters. Don't watch this movie it will make your eyes bleed, and it's not of those movies that are so bad they're good
Overall: 1/10 a perfect example of how not make a movie
Bolívar: el héroe (2003)
One of the Worst Films of all Time
The Animation is the worst part of the film, it trying to copy anime, but it fails in so many levels, the movements are limited and the designs are ugly, it looks like it was made by a kid in Flash
The characters are so forgettable and boring, you don't remember any of them (except the protagonist Simon Bolivar) because they don't have any personality or they don't give them any development, example, there are characters like Maria Teresa del Toro, that they introduce us and then they don't give her any screen time or personality, that's ow bad the characters are
It's the story of the life of Simon Bolivar, there is nothing wrong about that, the problem it's the execution, with terrible dialogue and scenes that don't have any purpose on the plot
The music of this movie is forgettable or uninspired
Conclusion: This is one of the worst movies of all time, the only good things about this films is that is so bad that many people consider it funny, and the voice acting is not terrible but it still bad
Result: 1/10 "an example of how not to make a movie about a historical character"
