As a Victoria resident, this story will always have a place in my nightmares
20 April 2024
I have been a resident of Victoria BC for about 35 years and this is one of two stories that will always upset me when I think about it, the other being the disappearance of Michael Dunahee.

I was only 9 when Reena was murdered but to this day I remember the news coverage and the overall shock felt throughout Victoria was absolutely heartbreaking, for me personally I remember how upset I was at the thought of how scared Reena was and what she went through physically before she died. Those feelings have never gone away to this day and I bet they never will.

The ripple effect it had on those in Victoria regardless if they knew Reena Virk or not was absolutely indescribable. As I'm sure you know by watching this series, hearing about the story beforehand or from living in or close to Victoria, the way Reena was murdered was absolutely horrific to say the very least. I don't even want to compare this to an animalistic act because even wild animals would have more compassion than what was shown to Reena that horrific and unforgettable night.

Its interesting how someone's story can stick with you for your entire life even if you didn't know the victim or their family before or after the crime against them took place. My heart still and always will go out to Reena, The Virk family as well as her friends. I'll never fully know what they went through and what Reena's family and friends will always go through. Those that commited this disgusting crime will never receive the justice they TRULY deserve. I think Reena's story and the story of every murder victim should be a reminder that our justice system needs A LOT of work. Reena, her family and her friends has and always will be in my heart, especially while I drive over the bridge where this crime took place. I'm grateful Reena's story is being told in a way that many outside of Victoria can learn about it because Reena's story NEEDS to be told, so thank you to those that did this show to the best of their ability. Thus far it did have some points that didn't completely express the way this crime effected so many people, but I feel it has done well so far.

Rest In Peace Reena Virk, March 10, 1983 - November 14, 1997.

"Some officers and Agents see people as guilty until proven innocent instead of innocent until proven guilty."
18 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Before I go into the details of this incredible series of crimes, I want to start by saying the Vallejo Police Department should be absolutely ashamed for the treatment of Aaron and Denise for lying to them repeatedly, allowing an officer who was connected to a possible target and who was connected to Aaron and Denise in some regard, as well as not treating this case with the serious attention it truly deserved regardless of suspecting Aaron and Denise of faking this crime and their accounts of Denise's kidnapping and both of their druggings or not. I also want to add the FBI were no better.

I won't say I completely feel that local police funding should be completely removed because if such funding didn't exist, we wouldn't have the amazing work of officers like Sgt. Misty Carausu and the other officers at the Dublin Police Department that arrested Mr. Muller while some at the Vallejo Police Department were twiddling their thumbs while playing the blame game and/or watching Rosemund Pike frame Ben Affleck in a fictional movie. At least to me, that's what it felt like.

Let me be clear, this is FAR from a game. This is Aaron's and Denise's life we're talking about along with the lives of other victims of Mr. Muller and it's a shame to me that some officers and Agents see people as guilty until proven innocent instead of innocent until proven guilty.

I'm not going to go into the deep details of this 3 part documentary because those that created this documentary did an amazing job doing this for me. In the beginning as I knew nothing about this case, it was possible to me that there was something strange about this case but I wanted to truly see how this proceeded before making any final judgments. I'm not a cop and I'm aware hindsight is always 20/20 but I do feel everyone deserves a chance to tell their accounts of what happened and I was very interested to see what evidence was collected which is revealed later in the documentary. Evidence which I'll repeat, was collected by the amazing Sgt. Misty Carausu and her colleagues at the Dublin Police Department.

You have to see this story for yourself to really let everything sink in. The documentary is direct and to the point, well made and in my opinion, absolutely jaw dropping in regards to how Denise, Aaron and other innocent people were treated as well as other victims of Mr. Muller.

I want to close this by saying I can never express how sorry I am for what Denise had to go through, what Aaron went through, what other victims of Mr. Muller went through and I want to plead to ANYONE to not stay silent and to please fight as long as you possibly can to get the justice you deserve for what someone or some people have done to you. I can assure you that there are cops out there like Sgt Misty Carausu and civilians like myself that would prefer to believe you instead of casting you off and leaving you to feel alone more than you have ever felt in your entire life. NEVER. STOP. FIGHTING for your dignity, your honor and your truth.

The Handmaid's Tale: Heroic (2019)
Season 3, Episode 9

OOOH Hell is a place on earth....
18 May 2023
And its known as Gilead.

This episode was quite interesting as we see how close to the mental edge June is. In some ways this is a filler episode but I feel it's the foundation necessary to build the house that represents June taking action to begin bringing the punishment that those responsible for Gilead and those who support this oppressive regime deserve.

As this is my first time watching this series, I have no idea what's going to happen next but I feel like I can hear a ticking time bomb in the background with each passing scene. Each episode is brilliantly acted out and this episode is no exception to that fact. I hope the time is coming for Gileads turn to be brought to their knees.

A nice short trip back to my childhood
19 April 2023
Like a lot of people, Power Rangers was the one show I couldn't miss after school. From the days of Rita and Zedd to the final battle that led to all the original villains like them as well as King Mondo and the Machine Empire, Divatox, Elgar, Astronema, Dark Specter and so many more being either destroyed or turned good due to Zordons great and ultimate sacrifice, this show seems corny some that didn't grow up watching it but to those that did, it's a time machine that I'm grateful to have. So when I heard about this movie and saw the trailer, I was ready to revisit a big piece of my childhood at least one more time.

For me, Power Rangers Once and Always didn't disappoint for the most part. There was great nostalgic moments and I truly felt like I did as a child where I watched to see if Rita would finally succeed in some way as she executed her master plan to finally destroy the Power Rangers and conquer the galaxy like she first attempted to do back in 1993.

The movie was shorter than I expected at a runtime of 58 minutes considering Power Rangers The Movie from 1995 was 1 hour and 30 minutes long and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie from 1997 was 1 hour and 40 minutes. But I reminded myself that this is more of a reunion show so I treated it as a special double episode event. The plot and execution was really great to watch with some very interesting surprises and Easter eggs along the way for longtime fans. The acting at times was a bit shaky or corny but thats how it was even back then so this was one of the rare times that it still worked for me. The way they showed dedication and appreciation to the late and great original actors Thuy Trang (Trini) and Jason David Frank (Tommy) was very special to see to say the least. I don't want to ruin anything but I will say the scene right before the credits roll was absolutely perfect to honor them, the other original Rangers regardless if they were in this film or not and I felt it was also a nice little thank you to the fans that have watched from the beginning regardless if they've seen the first season in 1993 or recently.

Power Rangers for me was one of the things that got me through some difficult times as I was in the hospital a lot due to receiving a Liver Transplant in 1989. Once in 1995 when I was in the hospital for tests, a family friend gave my Mom, Sister and I box seats to see Power Rangers Live in Toronto. I still have my ticket stub. It was an incredible experience I remember to this very day.

I have had my transplant for 33 years (I'm 34) and one of the things that helped me escape the sounds of my IV, medical monitors and the hospital overall was watching Power Rangers when I could. Thats why even at the age of 33, the original seasons still mean so much to me today. I'm currently waiting for my 2nd transplant as this liver is slowing down, so this reunion was a reminder of what Power Rangers did for me during the tough and scary times. I'll always be grateful to everyone involved with the show and for the fans that helped keep it alive for those reasons and more. Thank you for this little trip down memory lane and I truly hope other longtime fans enjoy this as much as I did.

My overall rating is 7/10.

Enjoyable first viewing for some Halloween craziness but not much else
7 November 2022
Ever since Scary Movie, I have paid close attention to the content the Wayans have released over the years. Unfortunately for them, outdoing a comedy like that seems less and less likely as the years have gone on, although White Chicks had its funny moments. So I was surprised that Marlon released a family Halloween movie for a change.

This movie was exactly what I expected it to be, something fun for families to watch. However, for someone like myself who really enjoys comedic movies and is always looking for a good laugh, this movie fell very short on delivering what I was looking for. To me this movie is like Hubie Halloween, a one time watch that doesn't have a lot going for it unless you or your kids like it so much that you want to watch it evert October. I don't fall in either of those categories. While this film did have some interesting points to it at times, there just isn't enough that makes me want to watch it again and again each year with the other movies that have made my list of watching each year like Hocus Pocus and The Conjuring movies for examples.

I commend Marlon Wayans for doing something very different compared to his other films and I wouldn't say this film is a failure, I just think it will only work well with a certain kind of audience.

If you choose to watch this movie, lower your expectations and I think you'll enjoy it for your first viewing depending on your taste in movies. If you're looking for a Wayans film that has raunchy humor with various parodies, you will be very disappointed with this movie.

Overall I rate this 6/10 for an interesting story, some funny bits and for Priah Ferguson's and Marlon Wayans' acting being pretty good.

A Pleasant surprise
12 October 2022
I'm not someone who is big on teen movies but I wanted to give this one a try and I'm glad I did. This movie has some good humor and has the ability to get you to care about the main characters and how they're going to get out of this mess of a "curse" while learning to adapt to their very different and new lives.

I've seen a few body switching films like "Freaky Friday" and "The Change Up" for example, I found this film to be right in the middle of these two films. It's a family movie with some funny and subtle adult jokes in it. By the end of the movie, I felt glad I gave it a chance for various reasons such as it managed to give me some laughs and it was a reminder that some things we see as "curses" in life are actually blessings in disguise if we learn the lesson it's trying to teach us. If we're able to do that, we may just come out of it as better people in the end.

Wentworth: Legacy (2021)
Season 9, Episode 10
10/10
Thank you for 9 seasons of this incredible show!
27 October 2021
I remember when I first started watching Wentworth, I was looking for a new show with surprises, interesting storylines and more. I definitely found more in this show than I expected to find. I was hesitant of Wentworth because I have seen Orange is the new black and I wasn't impressed with the story after season 5. I can absolutely confirm that Wentworth makes Orange is the New Black look like a Disney series.

The finale of Wentworth was very well done. Just like the previous seasons, it had so many twists, turns and intense scenes and storylines. For me it was bittersweet because Season 9 was overall incredible, but its sad to say goodbye to such an amazing show.

I'm partly happy Wentworth is done because so many shows become stale as the creators and other showrunners don't know when to stop. I think Wentworth ended at a great time because they went out on top instead of trying make it last for too long.

I'll miss watching new episodes but I'm so grateful that we got 9 amazing seasons. I'm sending out a huge thank you to each and every person that helped make it happen, including the fans of the show because watching it helped the show go on and of course it helped us get 2 more seasons. I was recently in the hospital for surgery related to a liver transplant I got 32 years ago (I'm 33) and this show was one of the factors that made my 3 week stay tolerable, it definitely helped me escape the craziness going on for a bit and that wasn't the first time the show helped me in that way. I'm definitely going to be a fan for life for those reasons and more.

Happy Hubieween!
7 October 2020
One thing you gotta tell yourself before watching this movie is its just some Halloween fun. Don't take it too seriously and you'll have a nice time watching it. I did find some parts were slow but overall I got some good laughs here and there. I've watched Adam Sandler movies since Billy Madison came out in 1995. I believe this is the first movie with Adam Sandler and Julie Bowen since Happy Gilmore (1996) and I really enjoyed seeing them work together again after over 20 years. There are some Easter eggs hidden in this movie that connect some of Adams older movies, it was a nice stroll down memory lane when I noticed them, I don't wanna spoil them for you so see if you can spot them! If you're looking for an Oscar nominated picture possibility then this movie isn't for you. If you're looking for a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously and for you to have a nice Halloween laugh and mini scare here and there, then pop some popcorn and enjoy Hubie Halloween! This isn't Adam's best movie but its not his worst either.

Summer Nights
16 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was the very definition of the song "Summer Nights" from Grease only this was a Summer Night and it was perfect. For some, the highlight of the episode may have been seeing Elektra read that entitled b**** infront of everyone, but for me it was getting to see Blanca have the very definition of a perfect night. Not only did she get to have an amazing night with her Mother and sisters, but she also got to have an unforgettable experience with a wonderfully kind man who was also a gentleman.....and who actually called when he said he would. My other highlight was seeing a bit of Candy. I feel she was telling Elektra that everything was okay and that Elektra has nothing to be sorry for as Elektra regretted not going to Candy's casket during her funeral. All in all, this episode gave me so much good feels, it was a clear reminder why I fell in love with this show. Everyone on it or who helps make it is incredibly special to say the very least.

Once Upon a Time (2011–2018)

A show I'll never forget
23 January 2019
Once Upon a Time is definitely the kind of show that attracts a special kind of audience. An audience that enjoys magic, curses, storybook characters who are heroes/villains, and in my opinion, a show with originality. The show follows Emma Swan, a woman who is approached by a ten year old boy claiming to be her son. He brings her to a town called Storybrooke in Maine and claims its a town full of classic fairytale characters that have been cursed by the Evil Queen (The Mayor of Storybrooke Regina Mills) and evidently two of these characters? Snow White and Prince Charming, are from Emma's past in some way (watch to find out how) I could go on and on about the plot to this show, but honestly I don't wanna spoil anything. Instead I want to explain what this show did for me. Almost 30 years ago I had a liver transplant when I was 10 months old and like anyone with health issues from the start, I've had some hills to climb. For 7 years, this show was like fuel for the car that helped me climb those hills. I watched it while I was in the hospital and while I was doing that, I wasn't there, I was in Storybrooke, the enchanted forest and other places the show took us. I was away from the hospital bed and in a world I was eager to experience, and man did it give us viewers an experience we won't soon forget. There were storylines that were flat, characters that weren't used as much as they should've been and quite frankly, missed opportunities and a few plot holes that were insulting to the audience. But overall this show was amazing. One of my favorite things was for seasons 3 to 6, the show had two storylines for each half of the season. So in Season 3A (Fall to Winter) we went one place, and Season 3B (Spring to Summer) we went to another. It really shook up the show and made it feel fresh. I can't begin to express my appreciation to the cast and crew, I have all 7 seasons on Blu Ray and I will always watch them over and over. I'm thankful to have met some of the cast and told them what it meant to me. If you want a show thats familiar but also original with great storylines and a fresh setting each season, this show is for you. Enjoy it for what it is, a true gift to fairytale/Disney fans.

South Park: Red Sleigh Down (2002)

Quite possibly the funniest Christmas special I have ever seen!!!
1 April 2010
In this great South Park Christmas Episode the boys and Mr. Hankey must save Santa Claus as he has been kidnapped by Iraqy terrorists while doing his Christmas rounds. The boys and Mr. Hankey need some extra help so they search for some help from Jesus Christ. While this is all happening, Jimmy decides to bless all of South Park with singing "12 Days of Christmas". This episode is so funny as it has some great moments with Santa and Jesus together and also the scenes where Santa is being tortured is pretty funny. You gotta have a opened and humorous mind in order to enjoy this episode and all south park episodes in fact lol, but I guarantee its something you will never forget lol. This episode may look wacky and funny to us, but for the boys its all a part of growing up in South park! 8/10 stars.

Another creation from Miyazaki that will live on forever
30 March 2010
This is the second Miyazaki film I have ever seen and it was a experience I will never forget. I am so grateful that my friend forced me to watch my first anime film (which was Spirited Away) because it got me so addicted that I had to see as many of Miyazaki's films as I possibly could. After Spirited Away I came across Castle in the sky and as I said, it will probably be one of the most memorable experiences of my life. This film captivates you in a way you could never imagine. The way Miyazaki makes his films is like he knows what fascinates everyone. The voice acting in this film is amazing and it makes you feel very connected to the characters and their emotions. Miyazaki's films taught me to do things I wouldn't normally want to do because if you don't, you could be missing out on something amazing. I was taught this because I had absolute no interest in anything anime except for Pokemon, but as I said my friend got me to finally sit down and watch some of Miyazaki's films and to this day I am in their debt as they showed me what real magic is. I recommend EVERYONE to see Castle in the sky, even if you are not a animation fan. I promise that you will be happy that you did. Not only will you witness beautiful drawings and an amazing story, but you will feel like anything in life is possible more then ever. This is only ONE of Miyazaki's MANY beautiful films, so please check them all out as you will be making your heart and soul more happy then you could possibly imagine!!

Very Touching Episode
16 November 2009
I am a big glee fan, and I love the comedy about it. However this episode touched me in a whole new way. Here in this episode we discover the true Sue Sylvester. I am in a group with kids who have mental and physical disabilities and I can't tell you what a joy it is to see them. I myself have a physical disability as I had a liver transplant and I can't tell you how much I would of loved for there to be more people like Sue Sylvester in my school. Yes she is tough, fierce and even dangerous, but she treats everyone equally the same when it comes to her cheerios or anything else. A young girl with down syndrome named Becky wants to try out for Sue's cheerio's, the result of the try out definitely has us all questioning the motives of Sue Sylvester. It was also inspiring to see how the glee club members rallied together to get Artie to travel with them for the school trip and I think it was perfect how Mr. Shuster handled the situation. It was also nice to see how they showed that even you are gay or straight, you should get the same chances and opportunities as everyone else. This was shown when Kurt wanted to try out for a female singing role. I was so pleased to see a little bit of everything thrown into this episode. I urge all of you to see this episode as it truly opens your eyes to what people with disabilities deserve in their lives. They deserve opportunities, mentors, friends, support and so much more. After all, we are all the same one way or another.

Very Interesting Show
4 November 2009
I am not one to go for sci fi shows but this one grabbed my attention. When I watched the first episode I was impressed and intrigued. There were bits of it that I found were a bit odd but all in all it is a pretty good show. When I heard the line "Why should we trust them" I thought if we ever do get Vistors we should think, Why should they trust us? Well later on in this show we find out why they would trust us..its not a happy reason lol. The acting was pretty good, in my opinion Morena Baccarin as the role of the Visitors leader Anna and Elizabeth Mitchell who does the role of Erica Evans both delivered a really good performance and I hope to see more of them. This show isn't as unrealistic as some may think as we may get visitors in our future, and watching this show could be a step by step guide on how to handle them lol. I recommend you watch this show if you enjoy some sci fi action but I also recommend you keep an opened mind as some of it as I said is a bit far-fetched...but it is a enjoyable program.

One thing that I look for in a show is intrigue to watch more episodes, I can say I will be watching next weeks episode!

Very Special and Rememberable film!
16 September 2009
To this day I can still remember seeing this film for the first time. I was about 7 and I thought it was so great. I am now nearly 21 and I still love this film. The casting is great and the acting was great for kids that young. The story was surprisingly well done as well! Probably adults won't enjoy this film as much but I think a good amount will. I definitely think kids will enjoy this film more then adults but as I said I am now an adult and I still am grateful to own this movie.

I rate is 7/10 because there were some points in this film that were a bit unrealistic and a bit too silly. However I still think this film is great

Strong Film
8 August 2009
When I saw the previews to this film I wanted to see it as soon as I could. This film was very well done. I enjoyed the whole story and I think Angelina Jolie did a GREAT job for her role. The one thing I loved about this film is through pretty much the whole thing you could feel what Christine Collins was feeling through the horrible ordeal. I don't have children but I can't imagine one of my children Vanishing! I recommend seeing this film as soon as you can if you haven't already, its a great film and I believe it is well worth your money to definitely see it.

Trading Mom (1994)

An Instant Classic
9 June 2007
This movie was one of my favorites when I was a Kid. It is a very unique and thoughtful movie for the whole family to see. It really puts into perspective that it doesn't matter if someone can give you everything you could ever want, take you where you want to go all the time, or is so much more fun, no one in this world can replace your Mom. I love how this movie brings in morals to the kids who watch this movie. A lot will realise that your Mother is one of the dearest and irreplaceable people in your life. The only problem I had with the move was the ending. I did not like Harry's choice at all. I believe they should of had the last Mother choice to be more interesting and a longer outcome then Natasha. All in all I believe your whole family will enjoy this and will be a movie you will remember for years to come.

Great Move to go with Bob Saget
22 November 2006
I have always loved Full House because of how great the actors fit their characters and how great they were with each other. However in this Pilot that never made Television, I found they made a mistake by considering John Posey for the character of Danny Tanner. Nothing against John Posey but I found through the whole episode that he did not fit the character and back then not a great actor. I believe Full House was a great success by switching to Bob Saget. I also felt that this pilot was quite rushed. other than those things this is still one of the greatest shows in the world! I recommend everyone to buy all the DVD sets to watch all the great episodes that the Full House series has to offer. Trust me when I say, you will not be disappointed. Everyone in your family will enjoy it, and I mean EVERYONE!

Very Warm and Funny.
27 February 2006
This movie is a very warm and funny family film. I enjoyed every minute of it because it was very real. Some may disagree but there are a lot of people who may of had this type of situation. I loved that Martin Short was in the Sequel because I love his comedy and he made the movie very funny. The only thing I didn't like was Eugene Levy's character, I found that his part was just put there to extend the movie a bit. I also didn't like how they used him in the second one when he was clearly the one who auditioned to be the wedding singer in the first one. All in all this is a great family film where many will enjoy and watch together.
