Memorias de Idhún (2020)
I like the theme, but it was a very boring animation to watch
I enjoy fantasy stories, the concept is good but this series makes a common mistake on this genre of story, which is trying to create everything, all the details, too much epic and on the result you get a confusing plot that is boring and doesn't fill the holes. The art backgrounds were good designed and painted, but when it comes to the animation itself, a lot of scenes are very bad linked, the animation isn't much smooth and character's acting was very weak and lack of any charisma to make them likable / interesting , still far from any good anime made by Japanese's company. The story is very slow pace and filled with boring cliche teenage drama and almost no action. If you are looking for a good epic fantasy animation, I would recommend a title like Trollhunters instead of this one.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: Unato Decisive Battle (2019)
very high quality animation but boring story
The animation, the background art and all the technique is a master piece, very high quality, but the story felt a little "meh"
Not much chemistry between most of the characters, poor dialogues, it really wasn't an engaging story.
Seinto Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac (2019)
From a Saint Seya fan, stay away from this garbage
I just watched the first part released on Netflix, and it was horrible.
I have been a fan of Saint Seiya since my childhood, and this new show from Netflix lacks a soul. The director and writers doesn't seems to have any kind of love or passion for the original Saint Seiya.
They didn't just changed Shun into a woman, they also changed many characters' personality on this new series. They tried to create some kind of new story, mixing classic scenes/moments from the original Saint Seiya, and it resulted in a very rushed story without much connection with each scene. Sometimes it was also kind disrespectful with the lore of the original Saint Seiya. This new world that the writers created for this Saint Seiya lacks a lot of consistency.
Since the release of the Lost Canvas, Saint Seiya's fans haven't seem much good quality production of this franchise, which is really a pity. (Omega's story and production was pretty bad, the movie released some years ago also had it's story rushed, and the new Saintia Shou's series was a very cheap production). I really wish they could make a new season of the Lost Canvas using the same studio and crew who worked on the first seasons, instead of making this unnecessary reboots and cheap productions.
For true Saint Seiya's fans, I recommend to stay away from this one.
Kung Fu Panda (2008)
Inspiration for life
This is one of my favorite movies from DreamWorks.
It has humor, drama, action very well balanced and through Kung Fu you see how Po grows up, and at the same moment it teaches good lessons about life. This movie and the sequels really inspires me every time I watch it.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)
One of the best series of Star Wars
I love Star Wars clone wars, it's a great series and I'm happy it's coming back for a new season in 2019.
The new Star Wars movies, specially The Last Jedi, and new series (star wars resistance) are pretty garbage, the new season of Clone Wars is my last hope for Star Wars be saved.
For any Star Wars fans, this is a must see TV series.
Mune, le gardien de la lune (2014)
Great movie, great mythology!
This movie is really underrated!
The story is simple but beautiful. I love the fantastic world created here and it's mythology. It's just a pity that the movie isn't more longer, I would love to see it explored more along the movie :)
Anyways, the character development is great, Mune starts as a clumsy character who doesn't want to take the task that he was chosen to do, be the guardian of the moon, and his curiosity lead's to the main plots events and I love to see how he grows over the movie and the kind of innocent love and brotherhood that creates a bond between each character.
I really recommend to watch this movie with family, friends, girl/boy friend.
Really good movie!
Star Wars: Resistance (2018)
this doesn't seems like star wars
I watched 3 episodes, it has spaceships, you got aliens, etc. but it didn't feel to be a part of the Star Wars universe. Characters are just stuck in a single place despise of a whole galaxy around it, no big story behind and the chemistry between characters were really bad. The dialogues are fast paced, which makes the characters looks silly and hard to establish a bond.
About the art, I don't like the 3d cell shading art style, but I can survive it. But the story and characters were pretty boring and dumb. I couldn't feel any big plot running on the background of the the episodes (maybe because the new movies/canon story sucks). Even on the movies or on this new serie, I really can't feel any threat from the First Order, they don't give any element to feel the "horror" that the first Order can be. And the characters really doesn't seem to have any motivation to fight against it. The story seems that same thing that happened with Solo, with a guy that want to become the "best pilot"(boring..).
The overall story really lacks the magic, the lore and mystery that real star wars movies and series had on it. The moments that could shiver your body and make you think for hours. It lacks humanity on the characters and the construction of the real "heroes journey" on the plot.
Some people can say "it's a show for kids", but it doesn't have any elements for a small kids show to justify it, and even shows meant for kids have many good stuff that the whole family can enjoy, like Toy Story, Cars, etc. Therefore, if someone say "it's a kid show", I can tell you, it's just an excuse for bad writing. And that's the real problem with this show, bad plot, bad writing, bad character development. Feels like Disney purchased a super big franchise and don't know what to do with it, they don't know their own product and audience.
The thumbs down on the trailers were really true, I don't recommend to waste your time on this and just wait for the new season of Clone Wars that are coming.
Next Gen (2018)
Good animation, boring story
The animation quality is pretty good, but the story seems like a cheap version of Big Hero 6.
The whole story seems forced to make the audience feel emotionally connected with the characters, but the scenes feel rushed and the bound of the girl and the robot feels forced at the begin, the two characters really doesn't fit, and the soundtrack also doesn't help to create the emotional bound. (Really, the soundtrack is horrible, takes all the emotion of the scenes away).
It's kind of movie that I recommend to spend time, but probably won't watch a second time.
Interstellar (2014)
One of the best sci-fi movies of all time
I really loved when I watched this movie for the first time, and this move is so complex, deeply and full of details that made me watch 3-4 times to catch all the details and science behind it. It's really a master piece that dragged me into the movie's world. The soundtrack is also amazing, love to listen to it time to time.
Christopher Nolan is a very talented director, wish they could pick him up to direct the new Star Wars movies instead of young and inexperienced directors/writers that Lucasfilm hired for the new trilogy. Christopher Nolan is really the guy who takes time to develop a good story telling and creates a world that just drags you inside it. Interestellar is really one of the best Sci-Fi movies and I really recommend this movie for any Sci-Fi/Space travel fans around.
Supergirl (2015)
Too much political
I liked part of the first season, but after the second season it got too much political, it's more focused on "social justice" crap than showing good story writing about the adventures of Supergirl. Pity it's happening with all CW shows, like Arrow, Flash, etc.
Incredibles 2 (2018)
Seems pixar is loosing it's touch
Since the first Toy Story, Pixar's movies always had amazed me, the originality, the story telling, the deep emotion that they were able to give to their characters, I remember myself crying on the end of Toy Story 3, Inside Out.. the good feelings that I had after watching Cars.
But seems Pixar also joined the recently trend in Hollywood in making movies with political agendas and remove the budge of the creative and story telling department.
The first Incredibles was great, very original, each character had it's place on the plot, you could see a family working together and the story felt super original.
On this new one, it's more about "strong female" (they should make a movie of "Strong Woman" from South Park) and very predictable story (kind of story you can already know how it's going to end on the first 10min of the movie)
It's a good movie to watch at home and just spend some time, when you don't have anything better to watch. It doesn't worth the ticket to watch on the theater.
Hope Pixar can return to it good times and return to make good stories again without politics on it, as it seems they are really loosing their creativity upon political agenda since Cars 3. I love Pixar and I'm still looking forward for their future movies #MakePixarGreatAgain
