Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Go and see this movie NOW!!
One of the best movies of 2019. If you're already familiar with other movies by Taika Waititi, especially Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Boy, you know what to expect: amazing humour, touching moments, a little bit of drama and a lot of charm. All the characters (and actors, obviously) were simply amazing, though my favourite were Jojo (the kid is amazing), Captain K (he was the perfect example of a tired German soldier who didn't believe in nazism; I also loved his story arc and the way he always seemed to help Jojo), and imaginary Adolf Hitler (as much as it pains me to write Hitler and the word ''favourite'' in the same sentence, Taika was amazing and sooo goofy), though my absolute favourite was Yorkie, he simply stole every scene he was in.
I also loved that the story was told through the eyes of little Jojo, we were able to see how the Nazi propaganda poisoned the youth. I am aware of the fact that some people may think the movie was not appropriate, however, I think the Nazi satire is exactly what we need, and it definitely showed how ridiculous the Nazi ideas were.
All in all, I would definitely recommend getting and watching this movie ASAP, it is really amazing and perfect and everything I needed. I would also recommend watching The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplin, 1940) and Life is Beautiful (Roberto Benigni, 1997), the former being funnier and an absolute delight, and the letter being more of a drama, with a little bit of comedy.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was one of the best movies I've ever seen, hands down. I really liked the whole 60s vibe, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt were amazing, and the last half an hour or so were so intense and in a very Tarantino style. Definitely recommend it, though it would help if you are familiar with at least a few of Tarantino's movies, as it was a bit confusing for my friends who went to watch the movie with me as he hasn't watched any of his movies so far.
Benedict Cumberbatch did an amazing job in portraying the famous consulting detective, Sherlock Holmes, and so did Martin Freeman with Sherlock's best friend and flatmate, John Watson. The show is really fast paced and extremely interesting, and it has one of the best villains ever made, Jim Moriarty, portrayed by an equally amazing Andrew Scott. Rupert Graves as DI Greg Lestrade, and Mark Gatiss as Sherlock's elder brother Mycroft "The British Government" Holmes were amazing as well. It's definitely my favourite TV show and I recommend it wholeheartedly.
