People expecting a more action oriented heist type of movie will probably be disappointed. "The Forger" leans towards family drama territory.

Now, if you can get past Travolta's look in this picture (I couldn't help getting distracted by his awkward wig and goatee) and don't expect much, you'll probably be mildly entertained.

Christopher Plummer is very likable in this, and his presence helps the movie a lot.

Overall, straight to video material.

I wasn't expecting much, but this came as a pleasant surprise! The editing uses flashbacks in between rounds to tell the motivations that drive the two fighters, revealing their personal dramas little by little.

This helps to keep you interested on the movie, and ultimately on the outcome of the fight.

It also works because there's no 'villain' on the ring - both characters have good reasons to be on this match, and it's difficult to root just for one of them (though for me Dominic Purcell has a slight edge, if anything for being older).

I don't know why so many filmmakers fail to grasp the concept that sometimes less is more.

This remake of "Patrick" is a good example. The whole movie has an amateurish look, simply due to the use of a color filter to give it a 'dark', 'greyish' atmosphere. It just looked ridiculously fake. As did the rain filter, the CGI lift shaft shot, the car headlights and so on.

Editing was terrible too. As a matter of fact, everything about this movie was bad, the exception being Pino Donaggio's score (which was not great either, but at least acceptable).

As for the cast, Charles Dance does what he can, but the poorly written screenplay does not help things much.

And don't even get me started on the final jump 'scares'...

This had everything to be a great movie, which actually makes it an even bigger let down.

First off, the movie is set in war period (the decline of Hitler's Reich), but all the characters look and act like it's Sunday in the park. There is no drama, no sense of real danger or conflict, no concerns, no mood.

The scene with George Clooney and Matt Damon in the camp hospital is cringe worthy, an the two songs linked to this scene were an ordeal to endure.

All the 'motivational' speeches sound corny as hell too. Not to mention all the embarrassing moments such as when George says on the radio "all hell is breaking loose here" but nothing we see on screen support this line.

The sets looked out of a theme park, sterile.

And all the famous actors, although box-office baits, actually end up hurting the picture artistically. "Look, it's John Goodman!". "Look, it's "Bill Murray!". Look it's .....(enter famous actor name here)!" and so on.

The only suspenseful moment in the entire movie has to do with the eminent arrival of the Russians, but it's too brief to save this well intentioned mess.

And what's with all the smoking, cigarette fixation?

Christian or Atheist, faithful to what is depicted on the Bible or not...

This is a MUST SEE movie.

Not due to religion, but simply because it is all that a great movie needs to be:

It's entertaining, moving, thrilling and passes on good values without being overly 'preachy' (while also providing food for thought).

Now, I am NOT a Christian, nor do I consider myself a religious guy.

I DO however believe in Christian values, such as love for one another, respect for family, nature and all living things.

And I think movies such as this are sorely missed nowadays.

I've read some reviews here and was baffled by so many negative ones. I can only think they come from some religious groups that thought the film was not 'faithful' enough or preachy enough or whatever.

Some complained about the pace (?!). The film has more than two hours and I didn't look at my watch once! Come on, people! Some compared it to Transformers... Huh????

Thank GOD (pun intended) I don't go by bad reviews! Or else I'd miss one of the best movies I saw in recent times (and yes, I do see a lot of movies, be art house ones or pop-corn blockbusters - I can appreciate both, IF they are THIS good.

The ONLY flaws I found in this film are technical. The CGI creatures (apart from the stone ones) are terrible! The snake, the weird looking fox with scales at the beginning, the 2 doves in flight are really, really bad... SyFy Channel level bad. But the rest (actors, script, music etc) is so good, that more than compensates for!

Go. Watch it. You can thank me later!

I don't know, everybody seems to like this outing, so maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it.

But from the beginning, I felt the movie was trying too hard to impress, like someone had this idea: "Hey, Lord of the Rings is awesome, so let's put some elves and other fantasy creatures on this, and while we are at it, you know that cool sound effect of the light sabers from Star Wars? Let's add this too! After all, we have Princess Amidala in our cast! Oh, wait! I saw this movie the other day, 'Star Trek: Into Darkness' and it was f*ing a-m-a-z-i-n-g! What about having Loki resemble Khan, and we could also borrow from the title too, let's call this sequel 'Dark' something... let me see... Oh, I got it! Dark World!"

I could go on and cite moments that reminded me of John Carter, King Kong, X-Men and so forth...

Don't get me wrong, the movie is not bad, but at least to me, it felt too much like a 'montage' from other movies.

I liked the first one very much, so maybe my expectations were too high. I'd still recommend it though.

Scientist develops a formula to use nuclear power as a source of energy. The invention becomes disputed by several bad guys (and bad girls also). Unbearable spoof on spy movies, with just a thread of plot and very confusing direction. Characters come in and out without purpose, everything is ridiculous and absurd, just pitiful. In some aspects it resembles the first take on Cassino Royale, the one with Peter Sellers and David Niven. Several famous Brazilian actors appear in brief cameo roles, such as Jece Valadão, Oscarito, Cyll Farney, Anselmo Duarte, Norma Bengell, Carlos Alberto and Ivon Cury. Avoid at all costs!
