Perfect Christmas Viewing
19 January 2021
We watched both series in Dec 20. You soon get used to the dubbing and just enjoy this joyfully light comedy. I cannot recommend it highly enough if you want something to put you in the Christmas mood

Really hoping there is a third season to come in 2021 - come on Netflix!

Warren (2019)

Give it a chance....
30 March 2019
Like a lot of reviewers I wasn't totally won over by the first episode but then most comedies take time to bed in.

Warren has few redeeming features but I don't get this belief that a comedy character needs to have warmth for us to enjoy it. The comedy for me comes from enjoying just how obnoxious he is and how wonderfully well Martin Clunes, who is surely one of the best and most likeable actors of his generation, brings this to the screen.

It's not groundbreaking and reworks some well-trodden sitcom themes but it has provided us with some real belly laughs. What's wrong with some old-fashioned sitcom - not everything can be the next Office or Fleabag.

I hope the BBC stick with it and commission another series. When you look at how utter rubbish like Citizen Khan gets renewed then this deserves a chance to grow.

The Grinch (2018)

Great Family Christmas Film
2 December 2018
This is an immediate festive classic. Benedict Cumberbatch puts in a faultless performance.

I really don't understand the negative reviews. This finally lays the Jim Carrey abomination to rest.

Everyone in the cinema was laughing from the start with the sure touch of the studio famous for hits like Despicable Me and Minions providing a raft of visual and verbal gags.

I want to spend Christmas in this Whoville and anyone who doesn't isn't welcome at my house this Christmas!

Still Game (2002–2019)
10/10
Best comedy on TV at the moment
2 August 2007
Still Game is undoubtedly the comedy highlight of the week.

I don't understand why I keep reading comments that you have to be Scottish to 'get' this with some people even claiming they're unable to understand the dialogue, which I think says rather more about them...

If you enjoy good acting, fantastic characters (every one of them capable of stealing a scene) and rollicking good story lines then you can't fail to enjoy Still Game whether you're Scottish, English, Welsh, Irish or Martian.

Hemphill and Kiernan have produced an understated and undervalued masterpiece. It's a disgrace that the first few series were not shown nationwide and with all the channels at their disposal is it too much to ask that the BBC repeat them in an attempt to get this series the credit it deserves?
