Great camera work and remarkable acting game helped me up to the very titles. The musical accompaniment of Stefano Lentini was brilliant!
The main theme of the Horse Nest is the life of an ordinary woman and her family. Women who were forced to leave her family and work as a maid in Italy. And after returning to motherland and family, Darina must make a difficult choice between the past and the present...
The chronology of the action is broken so that the viewer can feel the main character better.
It's one of those nice Ukrainian movies that I'm not ashamed to recommend

My rate for this movie is 6 because it doesn't hold out to the world level. But we can say it's 8 for modern Ukrainian cinematography.
The movie is based on the true story - it's a story of a usual, but very brave Crimean Tatar girl named Saide. During the Second World War, She saved 88 Jewish children from imminent death twice.
Once this young girl rescued children from the German invaders. She said that they were Tatars, she gave them new names and taught them a new prayer. For awhile children could live a normal, happy life. But not too long, because at the end of the war, she had to save her "own" children once more. This time - from the NKVD troops, who began forcible deportation of the Crimean Tatars from Crimea.
The film is full of metaphors that will become pleasant memories and conversation themes for a lot of viewers for a long time. The creative group successfully create a good historical drama, which answers many questions concerning the history of Ukraine, the genocide, the life of exceptional people and the humanity by itself.

The full version of the tape is divided into two storylines - the main events unfold in the early XX century. And in parallel in Paris of our time. Between the journalist conducting his own investigation into the life of Fanny Kaplan and the reporter begins the novel. They have their own drama with secrets, which connect them with Kaplan's diary. From these entries, the journalist learns the details of the last years of their owner's life.

Almost blind Fanny gets acquainted with the brother of the leader of the proletariat, Dmitry Ulyanov in the sanatorium. He falls in love with a defenceless girl. At that time he was married, but for Fanny's sake he abandoned his wife and began to live with a young mistress. He tells her a lot about his brother, helps in rehabilitation for restoring vision.
Once among the crowd, she sees her first love - Victor Garskiy. It was his fault for the unsuccessful terrorist attack that she assumed and spent ten years in jail. She almost goes crazy with love, despite the fact that she becomes Victor's secret mistress. However, this time Fanny is not going to lose him.
He appoints her a date on August 30, 1918, at the gate of the Michelson factory, to betray her again ...
By the way, in a fairly short period of time, Elena Demyanenko's drama managed to become a winner in the nomination "Best Foreign Film" at the International Film Festival in Christel Palace (London, UK).

"When I was four years old, I had four grandparents: two city grandparents and two country grandparents. The city ones were called Luigi and Antonietta and they looked exactly like the people living in the city. The country ones were called Ottaviano and Teodolinda and they didn't look like anybody else, not even their neighbours." This is the opening of a book telling us about an extraordinary grandfather and a cherry tree, about the goose Alfonsine and her husband Oreste, about grandmother Teodolinda and her "soft" things; and about a boy who doesn't forget his "mad" granddad who used to climb up the trees and who has made him happy so many times. Unfortunately, in the cartoon, we have a very blurry picture of what was really happening. Instead of a whole text, we received separate, misrepresented quotes.
The original text is written in a simple and touching language. The animation is simple, but I can not call it nice. It's my opinion.
Verdict: Not a bad cartoon, but, if you don't regret spending hours of free time, you should read the book instead.
