Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
A roller-coaster of emotions
It is a, by far the most WTF movie I've seen so far. Not surprisingly though since it's Taika and his funny and twisted way of telling and mashing up stories together. Even though I love all the Thor adaptations, this part is the furthest thing from the original Thor movie, and it's still great. This movie made me laugh my buttocks off, get excited, cry out loud and question my whole life and knowledge of the Norse myths. Not liking Russell Crowe much before this movie I was also impressed with his acting since it was something I've never seen him do before. He is actually hilarious. I am not really keen on the cancer story and it was hard to watch that part since a lot of my loved ones were sick or died of cancer but I love the moral of the story. It was a meaningful and fun piece with a lot of soul and charisma... And a lot of love and thunder. I will definitely watch it again.
Foundation (2021)
Everything I envisioned Foundation books to be
Despite the negative reviews, this shouldn't deter you from taking a look at this show.
The visuals are beyond stunning, and cast members such as Lee Pace and Jarred Harris bring passion and power to this series.
While it is true that the storyline mostly has nothing to do with the books, everything else does. And to be honest, which movie/series has ever copied the books 100%? After all, the books are highly philosophical and very difficult to transfer into real action.
For me, it's a 10/10. It didn't disappoint at all, and I am beyond happy about the outcome. People should chill out and try to enjoy the series for what it is.
AfterDeath (2015)
I read so many bad reviews so I had no expectations but I loved it.
Maybe my generosity is compromised given the fact that in the same day I watched The New Mutants and this movie so I was really comparing the two. Taking into consideration the amount of money that was invested into TNM, this movie is by no means way better.
I am not too happy with the cast's acting skills and the dialogues were random, however the concept of the movie is very interesting. Usually when I rate my movies I always ask myself the same question, "Would I watch it again?". The answer is YES.
The New Mutants (2020)
Save your money and ho watch Chronicle (2012) instead
With a $60 million budget I feel like the producer scammed the investors and took 90% of the money an fled. Apart from the 10 minute CGI and 5 actors I have no idea what they spent the money on. The movie Chronicle (2012) was filmed with 12 million bucks and still turned out way better and at least managed to depict the characters in such a way that you can relate to them or understand their thoughts or feelings. In this movie however, there is zero personality depth or development. The characters are very unrelatable and the storyline is dull. The only reason I gave it a 5 star is because I think Anya Taylor Joy and Charlie Heaton are gems. Oh and this Henry dude had cool powers too.
If you wish to spend your first hour of the movie just watching the intro about the characters but not really finding out anything at all, and then getting like 10 minutes of action, this movie is made for you.
Captain Marvel (2019)
The least exciting Marvel movie
There is nothing original in this movie.
The storyline is boring as hell.
The only interesting character in this movie is Ronan the Accuser which hasn't been given enough screen time.
This movie was so boring that I thought I haven't seen it so I downloaded it again and started watching only to realise I already watched it before and was bored as hell xD
The story has no significance for Endgame.
Poor choice for the main actress. She is unrelatable and arrogant.
I watched all Marvel movies, this is my least favourite one.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018)
Dystopian heaven, Moral battles
While staying true to the book trilogy, Wes managed to produce a movie which will be interesting for any fan of dystopia and adventure.
The only thing I would mention is that this movie certainly isn't for kids, and for people who were emotionally invested in these movies for the past three years, I suggest not watching if you're not mentally prepared for the sad moments.
Now, I get that some people in the reviews were agitated that certain characters died in the movie, but since that is what happened in the books, it was inevitable. At least they didn't die without a fight. Actually, I thought the death scenes were beyond amazing and filmed perfectly! I know we all hoped it wouldn't happen but the story wouldn't be the same then, wouldn't it?
Apart from the sad part of the story, from the beginning of the movie there was constant action. The scenery was also breathtaking and the investment and energy these actors have put into this movie is awesome. The fact that the main actor actually did the stunts himself, had a serious accident, yet returned back to finish the movie adds another layer of respect for this franchise.
The Death Cure is a perfect concoction of action, adventure, heart and friendship. What is also important is the battle of the moral views on the world. Do we sacrifice these people in order to save everybody else, or do we let them go and leave it to the natural selection?
Since many people here are very subjective and giving it 1/10, I will be subjective as well and give it 10/10 stars. It is by far the best movie I've seen in a theater in years, and I will definitely remember it for the rest of my life.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Relatable and easy to watch
When I first saw the movie plot and the trailer I was very sceptical about it. As a Norse mythology fan I must say I was very disappointed with how they've changed some major details in the story. Anyway, the saving grace here was Taika Waititi and I don't think anybody else could've salvaged this movie but him. It was also great seeing some of the actors from his movies here.
I admit it...the movie was great.
Not only was the movie surprisingly different from other Marvel's adaptations, but it was also quite easy to watch and very enjoyable and exciting at the same time. I guess people got bored of drama and psychologically draining content. This movie has a refreshing humor to it, not over-the-top, not arrogant, but just right amount of it to make you feel happy and satisfied.
Also, let's talk about Thor's haircut...Damn! He finally looks tough. In the previous movies it was pretty visible that his hair was dyed, which was quite a turn-off...This time his looks very natural and with new hairstyle he also becomes a little wiser. This could not have been said for him in the first movie where he was just a reckless, bratty god. We finally see some intelligence in him. He is finally a real superhero...
As far as Loki goes, I had a slight feeling they made him look like a petty god, which made me feel a little bit dissatisfied since he was a very powerful character in the previous three movies. Anyway, in the end everything was good. Don't panic. Loki is still the fan favourite!
The minor thing I have to mention that I disliked is that they put so much accent on Thor, Hulk and introducing new characters, that some great guys from previous movies got a little neglected unfortunately.
As far as the visual side goes, from the photos I assumed the movie would be terrible. However, the setting, the planet Thor ends up on actually looks quite cool despite perhaps being too colorful. I felt as if I'm watching Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars. Quite epic, ain't it?
Also, Hulk has improved so much, not only visually but as a character as well. He is finally relatable and funny. He finally has a chance to shine the way he should. And who knows, maybe he gets his own movie in the future? I would definitely want to see it if Waititi is behind it.
So far, this is probably the best movie of the year for me and I strongly encourage everybody to watch it. Doesn't matter if you're young or old, it is suitable for everyone.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015)
Prepare yourself for a story twist fiesta
Due to all the bad reviews from people who are obviously bored in life and subjectively gave the movie 1/10, I felt an obligation to write a review and give this movie a 10/10 rating. Honestly, if this teenage trilogy doesn't deserve a good rating, which one does?
If you are a person who likes to stay in their comfort zone and refuse to support any type of change, even if it is a good one, this movie ain't gonna be your cup of tea. The movie trilogy is slightly different from the books when it comes to timeline of events. Nonetheless, I've read the books before. I also felt it was necessary that Wes made some changes in the content since some scenes in the book we a little bit cliché, for example, the telepathy part etc. It doesn't change the plot of the story though. The story still makes a lot of sense and people who fail to see what the story is about should definitely try watching the movie one more time. I'm not sure what's there to be confusing or unclear.
Other than that, the cast is beyond amazing. It is obvious that not only these young people are great actors, but they're also emotionally invested in this project and very passionate about it, which is quite rare to find in today's cinematography. I salute them for that.
CGI is beyond satisfying for us, regular people who make 90% of the viewers and who don't watch movies just because we want to see cool effects but want to see great acting and content too. I'm not interested in discussing the finesse because CGI is not bad at all.
Anyway, not to prolong this because it's obvious that I had a great time watching it in the cinema (thrice!)... if you are a fan of dystopian and post-apocalyptic movies, you will definitely love this sequel to bits.
It is adventurous, mysterious and exciting to watch every time! I'm looking forward to the third sequel to see what they'll make of it, because in the end, It's not important how you start something, but how you finish it.
