The 50's called, they want their jokes back
16 March 2024
Very silly movie that'll probably please older people who are not tired of listening the same joke over and over again. Speaking of "tired", that's how I would define the attempt of humor made in this movie. The plot doesn't exist. People from different walks of life travelling together and from there a lot of "funny" situations take place. The acting is not natural, the jokes are delivered in a such a "robotic" way that you can see them coming. In order to pretend it has a teeny tiny bit of depth, there's a silly situation that is supposed to be dramatic or emotional, but it's more cliché than you can imagine. A complete waste of time.

Silent snooze fest
23 December 2023
It is very hard to write a review about this movie since there isn't much going on in it. The plot, is the same old revenge story we've seen in hundreds or thousands of movies before. A innovative or different twist? Not there. I suppose the idea of making it almost "dialogue free" was what was done to try to make it different, but for it just didn't do it, it actually made it worse. Some people love the fighting scenes and actually say they are excellent, but they're not good if you already know how it's going to end. Being "pretty" doesn't make up for a lack of story. Twenty minutes in and I was already paying more attention to my phone and waiting for the "final battle". Cliché, repetitive, boring. You do not need to see this movie. Trust me, you've seen it many times before.

Horror franchises need a restraining order against David Gordon Green
28 October 2023
David Gordon Green doesn't seem to understand that when he's working with we'll established franchises, he shouldn't just do whatever movie he wants. This movie is nothing but a generic movie that uses its title and McNeil as bait for horror movie fans. It adds nothing at all to the original movie, it continues nothing. They should've simply called this anything else. David Gordon Green may know how to make movies sometimes, but he certainly does not know how to respect legacy of famous and beloved horror franchises, as we painfully found out with Halloween Ends. Studios, keep this guy away from your franchises.

Worst end of a horror franchise ever
17 October 2022
Whatever metaphor or "elevated horror" crap they were trying to go for would've been OK for a stand alone movie. But that was supposed to be the epic end of a saga people had been waiting over forty years to see. It was not a Halloween movie. It was a random movie with Laurie Strode in it and one scene that made it feel like a Halloween movie, but it was too short and fast to make the rest of the movie worth it. It was not the movie to experiment, it was the movie to give the fans what they had been waiting for for so long. It was disrespectful to the fans, and I cannot imagine how Jamie Lee accepted to become a part os this being in the franchise for such a long time, talking to fans throughout the years, getting messages... Disrespectful, lazy, a slap in the face of the fans. I do hope this was the end.

Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

Basically a remake
2 October 2022
It is basically the same story set in modern times. Instead or pursuing its own path, it retakes the steps of the original. It's just an unnecessary sequel that adds nothing to the story, it's just a pointless nostalgia fest. It's not nearly as funny as the original either, a few more jokes would have made it at least more fun. It probably works better for people who haven't seen the first one, especially kids. Maybe that was their goal, but I do think it's possible to reach a new audience while making it enjoyable for people who had fun with the original almost thirty years before the release of this one.

Scream (I) (2022)

Quite disappointing!
14 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The "twists", the "something different", the "not this movie Sidney", were simply not there. The death scenes were good, I enjoyed more brutality and a bit less comedy. But in the end, the big reveal was not that big. The motive of the killers was silly, there was no personal involvement or personal motive against any of the characters. With that motive, they could have picked any character as ghostface. Sam's "family secret", it plays nothing bug a nostalgic role, used as an excuse to show Billy Loomis' face on screen. It means nothing to the story, it changes nothing. Judy Hicks plays no role in it, she's only put there to die. Everything is very random. I'm giving it three stars because when it comes to the story, big secrets revealed, it doesn't deliver. It follows the exact same structure of the previous one, only with a very silly and disappointing motive from the killers. The death scenes were brutal, and the final "linkless" and disconnected reveal was a brutal end to the franchise.

This can't have happened
11 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously, how do these writers make these decicions? Why would they ever have something like that happen, when no fan wanted to see that? Trinity killer should have finished that soon to be spoiled brat when he had the chance. I mean, didn't he hurt innocent people too? I could maybe understand him being upset, but freaking out like that when he was the same? Forgetting this series ever existed is the way to go. When will writer learn that a good season/ show is worth nothing without a decent ending?

What's wrong with the acting?
18 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I know, the title of my review kinda blames the acting, but I'm not questioning the talent of the cast. Maybe the director just wanted to speed up the initial part of the plot for some reason? They.kill someone, and the reactions are like, "oh wow, look what we did." - Someone tries to be sensible and suggest they call the police, and the answer from another character is: "are you crazy? We're wasted, we could get in trouble" - And the guy goes, "oh, ok".

And when they meet at the school gym so that Alisson (or Lennon, I wasn't even caring anymore at this point) could tell them about the message she'd gotten in her mirror along with the goat head, their reactions were like mine as I watched it. They didn't even care. No one was angry, upset, surprised... It was like: "Well, it could be something else you did".

If the main characters are not tense at all, don't care at all about what's happening, don't express any emotions... Why should the audience? This is bad. It's really bad. I'm gonna watch the 90's movies again to wipe this out of my mind completely.

Mortal Kombat (2021)

It works well if you see it as a prequel
25 April 2021
If you know and have played the games, this movie may not be what you're hoping to see. It's not bad, but it won't meet your expectations. It's almost as if they're testing things out to go for the real Mortal Kombat story as us fans know it in a sequel, bringing then the classic characters that were missing from this one, and making them the real protagonists. If it has sequels, it's a promising start.

I normally don't review movies, but I had to warn people
12 April 2020
Throughout history there have been many bad movies. And some of them, quite a lot actually, become classics. That's because they are the "absurd" kind of bad. Too funny to be taken seriously, so they turn out to be fun. I can mention "Killer Klowns From Outer Space", or the early "Tremors" movies. This is movie, is not that kind of bad. It's the "stupid" kind of bad. Too stupid to be taken seriously, but not to the point you'd ignore its stupidity to make it fun. The movies apparently tries to take itself seriously, and one simply doesn't buy it. So, I wouldn't call it bad, because bad can be fun. It's stupid. Take it from a person who normally likes movies that get a lot of hate, such as Star Wars I, Ghostbusters, the forgotten sequel of Carrie. Black Christmas is definitely not worth your time. Look up the story online, with spoilers, and you'll see what I mean. If you really want to watch Black Christmas, go for the 2006 version. It's bad, but not "stupid bad", it's "kinda fun" bad. I can't unsee it, but you can save yourself. Stay away from this movie.

A martyr?
23 December 2018
For the people who know the real story, it's pretty clear they try to pass Edir as some sort of hero, a martyr, That alone makes you want to stop watching the movie less than halfway through it. So do yourself a favor, and don't even start, unless you want to see this as pure fiction and not try to compare it to the real history.

So boring, it hurts!
22 October 2018
I didn't even finish watching it, and the only reason why I didn't stop sooner was because there was still some popcorn left for me to eat. The image is extremely dark. It's not scary, it's not tense, it's not interesting, it's not fun. It is boring and annoying. I guess the movie might be ok if you're a blind person, not being able to see anything for about 90 minutes wouldn't be a big deal for you.

Boring as a horror movie.
13 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This review might reveal some details of the story.

It is undeniably a good movie, but it fails as a horror one. And I don't mean that because of the lack of gore, it's because throughout the movie, you worry a lot more about the family drama rather than about the Witch herself, which would make it a drama with bits of suspense.

I guess we can all agree that a horror movie does not need any gore to be a good one, and sometimes suggested situations scare more than anything that could be shown. But creating too much expectation without delivering anything to the audience, turns the experience into a frustrating one, and at the end of the movie you feel like they owe you something. Don't watch this expecting a horror movie, you won't get one, not exactly.

Madonna: Rebel Heart Tour (2016 TV Movie)
1/10
An awesome show destroyed by the editing.
9 July 2017
Whenever Madonna hits the road you know you'll be getting a top notch experience. I've been to two concerts of hers and have not seen anything like it. My review has nothing to do with the amazing concert Madonna and her team put together (although I cannot understand why the beautiful "ghosttown" was not added to the setlist).

But it was very disappointing to see how the editing destroyed this experience by using insanely frenetic cuts for reasons that go beyond anything I can understand, it's impossible to appreciate a nice take the way they did it. Plus, the amount of filters and images from the background screens that were mixed with the actual performances turned the experience of watching this very annoying. In a certain moment, they cut from the main dance routine of a song so that images of the background screens can be shown. Awful, distasteful, and almost a crime to the show and the fans who didn't get to see it live. A waste of good material.
