Apne (2007)
10/10
Superb drama!!
2 January 2008
I always wondered when all 3 Deols (Dharam, Sunny, and Bobby) would come together, and it finally happened with APNE (Ours). It is brilliantly done, and performances by the 3 Deols are first-rate. It is a true and authentic family drama about boxers and reveals a father-son relationship, unlike those overrated and over-the-top SRK dramas, which the ignorant fools still love. Some people seriously fail to understand what the Deols are really all about, and they really need to watch them closely. Anil Sharma's style of presentation is one of the best, and the support is tremendous. The boxing is excellent, and the chemistry between Dharmendra and Sunny is too good. Also, Sunny's reason to fight in the climax is convincing. I highly commend the Deols for a job very well done! Apne really deserves to be in the top 5 hits of 2007, but sadly, the media and critics are so biased and unfair, that they will ignore it for that overacting SRK and his movies. Anyways, if you have any sense, then forget SRK, and just watch the Deols!! Highly recommended for good movie buffs! 12/10!! Just go for it man and enjoy!!!!!!!

Fool N Final (2007)

Weird!!
2 January 2008
This is a weird and confusing movie. There is a lot of good comedy be it with Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Sunny Deol, Om Puri, Shahid Kapoor and so on. There are so many different subplots and it becomes real confusing at times. I enjoyed the laughs, but it would be a little easier if there was a sequence. There were some good action scenes, especially the one with Sunny Deol early on top of the truck and the chase was well done. Even the end was alright. I loved that punching scene, where Sunny says his famous dialogue from Damini, but with a new style. Fool N Final is not a bad comedy, just confusing. That is why I give it a 7/10.

Kaafila (2007)

Great action movie!
2 January 2008
Kaafila is a different kind of action movie that tackles a serious subject, illegal immigration. This involves conflicts with militants and mafia, etc. The main reason to watch this movie is for the subject and the hero, Sunny Deol. To add to fun, Sunny Deol himself has a different role as compared to the past, and he will take you by surprise. It has lots of thrills from Sunny's introduction to the end. As a die-hard fan of Sunny Deol, I really wished that Kaafila had done well because this really had a novel and noble concept, which people should know and understand. It should have been well promoted and released on time, then it would have been a big hit. If you ever get chance to watch this action film, please do it for Sunny Deol. He rocks!

Good action movie!
27 April 2007
Qahar (Hindi for 'Calamity') is a good action movie with lots of great stunts. The movie has 3 heroes, including the 2 biggest action heroes of Bollywood, Sunil Shetty and Sunny Deol (my favorite star) with one more guy. This is the typical revenge story like Ghayal, Ghatak, Ziddi, etc. The way the story is told is interesting. There are so many villains in this movie, and the mortal combat between both sides makes this action-packed film worth watching. Sunny is playing the messiah with the other guy, and Sunil is the good cop, who joins them to smash the evil. Good ALWAYS wins over evil. The movie is true to its title, and everyone does well. Recommended for action fans!

Decent movie!
20 April 2007
This is NOT the typical action flick, but it is a fun movie to watch. Sunny and Bobby together for the first time ever made this a treat. In fact, Sunny did a great job as a first time director, which is well-deserved and commendable. There was some comedy and some good drama. Sunny as the big brother and Bobby as the brat acted very well. Although, this movie is a love story, but it was more than just that. It had many fun moments. Songs were decent, and the Punjabi style was excellent. One could have wished that Dharmendra was in the movie, but all 3 Deols are coming together in Apne this year (boxing drama), which is awesome. I wish that Sunny directs a movie later on in his career.

Big Brother (2007)
10/10
Good action movie!
16 April 2007
Big Brother (formerly Deodhar Gandhi) is a good action movie! Only Sunny Deol could pull this one off well. Big Brother is truly the 21st century Ziddi with lots of action (not as explosive as Ziddi but good anyways) and a different plot. Action is good for the most part (a little toning for special effects could help). This movie is a surprise hit at the BO as it really does carry a social message. Recommended for all action fans (especially all Sunny fans)!! I can give this a 9/10! Some things could have been different, but Sunny fans will like it! I look forward to many more great action movies for years to come. All the best Paaji!!

Imtihaan (1994)

Interesting movie!
26 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Imtihaan is interestingly done. The main idea is an apparent widow remarrying after her husband (Sunny Deol) is killed in an accident. She then marries the pop star (Saif Ali Khan). There are some thrills that follow throughout the film. There is a mysterious guy (we only see the feet of this guy), and I had a feeling that Sunny was the mysterious man. You know what, I was sooooooooo right. The way Sunny finds out the truth and gets answers is well done, so this film is a thriller to some extent. Performances are well done. Gulshan Grover excels as the trouble-maker. Asrani is funny as always! Even the climax is hard-hitting and mind-blowing with Sunny blowing out the baddies, and with a little help from Saif, and they blow out the baddies with big machine guns. At the end, Sunny is hit by bullets, but he is unstoppable as he vanquishes the last baddie, and then is hospitalized and saved, again. What a lucky man to have not just a 2nd chance but also a 3rd chance at life! Overall, this is a good time pass movie. Enjoy!

Damini (1993)
10/10
Excellent!
26 March 2007
Damini gets a 10/10, mainly thanks to Sunny Deol in the 2nd half. He was brilliant as the drunk and clever lawyer. See how he tells of the main baddie, Amrish Puri. The confrontation scenes between them are definitely worth watching repeatedly. Sunny won National Award for this. The dialogues are so witty, and the manner in which Sunny says them is humorous. Even his outburst in court is excellent, especially "Tarikh Pe Tarikh." I also like the phrase, "Judge order order karta hain aur tu pidtha rahega!" that uses against Amrish Puri (corrupt lawyer). Their confrontation scenes are immensely watchable. Sunny overshadows everyone else with an awesome performance, as he is the saving grace because his introduction after intermission takes the movie to a new level. He even bashes the baddies at the very end. If you ever watch this movie, do it for Sunny Deol. Enjoy!

Average!
26 March 2007
When I first heard about this movie being made and Sunny Deol being in it, I was really excited, as it was said to be a rivalry of 2 army schools, and I thought (Sunny's role would be perfect). However, over a year later (some months) after the film released, I was really disappointed. The rivalry was over 2 high schools, and Sunny's role was very small, and he was mum most of the time. I really felt bad that Sunny was wasted in this movie, although his get-up as the motorcycle dude was cool. The movie overall was NOT that great, just average. He can actually dance (see the song by Abhijeet). Sunny is a true icon of 'believing in oneself,' but he should have gotten substantial footage. Along with this, if the story was different, this could have been much better and more exciting.

Jeet (1996)
7/10
Not bad, just one small issue!
1 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Jeet has a good amount of action, and it a different side of Sunny Deol. At times, I wonder if this was even an ideal title for the movie, because Sunny was supposed to win the love for good and NOT lose her to Salman (he always gets the girl in a 2 guy and 1 girl story). If it was just Sunny as the hero with a different plot, then it would be even better. Another small problem is in the very last scene. After Sunny bashes the main baddie, Amrish Puri, then a moment later Sunny is shot but then he bounces back and kills him, saving Salman's life, but Sunny's character unwittingly dies, which kind of makes the ending a little abrupt. This part makes no sense, and it is unfair to Sunny, as his character is one that wants a decent, respectable love life, NOT die. Only this aspect chops off 3 pts. from this vote. It was tough to see Lolo ditch Sunny for Salman, but she later repented. Having said that, Jeet could have easily done without Sunny's character dying because tragic endings are NOT well-received, and they do NOT fit the story, unless the hero was a famous martyr. However, the baby boy at the end was named after Sunny's character. Surprisingly, this film was a hit. Anyways, the movie is NOT bad or anything, just avoid tragic endings! Johnny Lever in the first half is funny!

Fine, just one small issue!
1 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Karz has lots of action, and it is a typical revenge story. This is fine, and Sunny Deol goes perfect in action; Sunil Shetty does well. Only one small problem is in the very last scene. When Sunny jumps into a train car and kicks the main baddie, Ashutosh Rana (psycho villain and coward), Sunny is suddenly shot thrice, but then he bounces back and brutally bashes the baddie to death; surprisingly, the 'dhai kilo ka haath' was enough to kill the baddie! Now to be honest, Sunny's character unwittingly dies, which kind of makes the ending a little abrupt. This part makes no sense, and it is unfair to Sunny, because his character is one that fights too much to get his life straight, and he deserves the right to a newer and better and happier life, and NOT die. Only this aspect chops off 1 pt. from this vote. This kind of reminds me of Jeet in this regard. Having said that, just like Jeet (Sunny as main hero with a 2nd fiddle and heroine; also seen here), Karz also could have easily done without Sunny's character dying because tragic endings are NOT well-received, and they do NOT fit the story, unless the hero was a famous martyr. Another thing, the good cop, who was helping Sunny, was NOT even in the climax. Where was he? He should have been there! Anyways, the movie is NOT bad or anything, just avoid tragic endings! Johnny Lever in the 1st half is funny!

Lootere (1993)
10/10
Excellent!
22 February 2007
Lootere is an excellent (multistarrer) action movie with Sunny Deol as one of the three heroes, and that a cop too. The film is very well handled, and it has tons of mind-blowing action and thrills to keep you at the edge of your seat. Everyone does well in this film, and it is this aspect along with loads of action that makes this action flick worth watching. The story is interestingly told, and how the heroes save the day and vanquish the baddies is superbly done. Lootere is one of the best Desi action films of the early '90s. If you like to see nonstop action and thrills with lots of blood and gore, then watch this movie, especially for Sunny Deol. Enjoy!!

Not a good movie!!
20 February 2007
This is definitely not a good movie!! There is no plot and all mish-mash. There is a lot of action, which is good, but there are many significant flaws. For example, why are action stars like Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty playing college guys (they are too big for that)? Some less known actors are wasted. Amrish Puri was intriguing in his cameo as the sage, and Johnny Lever was funny (as ALWAYS), but the main reason I watched this film was because my favorite action star, Sunny Deol, was in this film, but I was disappointed that he had a small role (30 minutes), but he was the real hero in this film, as he vanquished the 'icchadari naag'. Acting is wasted in a little known movie. This could have been waaaaaaaaaaay better! Some of the special effects were unnecessary!

Salaakhen (1998)

Mind-Blowing!
1 February 2007
Salaakhen was just mind-blowing and kind of crazy. Sunny plays this simple guy, who is forced to take the law (as usual) in his own hands and goes beyond the limits to get justice after his father (Anupam Kher) is humiliated by a false conspiracy, which leads to suicide in court. From the point where Sunny is jailed and the rest of the film to the end (to the end) reminds you of Ghayal, especially because he is outraged by so much corruption in the law. The action occurred in the last 30 minutes of the movie (more would have helped). Amrish Puri is the greatest villain out there, but there is another 'baddy' responsible for the trouble (watch to find out who). This climax is long with a car chase and a short bus stunt. Overall, this movie may not be as great as Ziddi, but it is alright. Watch it for Sunny Deol!

Champion (2000)

Good!
1 February 2007
Champion is an interesting action thriller, and it is true to its title, as Sunny Deol is the cop hero in this movie. Overall, the film has enough thrills to keep you at the edge of your seat. Early in the movie, the mini tussles with that kid are kind of fun before Sunny becomes his hero. Sunny's introduction is definitely worth watching. The villain (a killer) is excellent and clever, and he does well at matching wits with Sunny. How Sunny deals with this killer down to the final fight is well done. Only Sunny Deol could fit this cop role and pull it off so well, which is why he is the best. Go for this and enjoy it!

Naksha (2006)

Amazing!!
1 February 2007
Naksha is definitely one of Sunny Deol's best action movies ever. The plot is novel, path-breaking, and new to Bollywood. This a total action adventure with thrills and fun. Watch this movie, and you will be in for the roller coaster ride of a lifetime! The movie is awesome and fun, and finally does something different from the norm. After seeing Sunny Deol in full form, I will say how badly I missed him in heavy action for a long time. The action is one of the best ever in any action film (unlike the previous venture, Teesri Aankh (I felt bad for the way that was done)). Now Sunny should just go nonstop no matter what!! Just ignore the stupid media and critics and just watch the movie. Do NOT miss this movie for anything else! This film deserved to be a blockbuster, as it was something new and different and cool. Just watch this action-adventure and enjoy man!! Recommended for Hindi action movie buffs. I loved Sunny's fight with the 6 Thai fighters and later, the shootout at the baddies' camp with the jeeps blowing in the pre-climax. I would give this one 12/10! Enjoy!!

Not Bad!!
1 February 2007
Zor (Hindi for 'Force') is a decent action flick. Sunny plays this journalist, who will eventually uncover a big conspiracy, in which his father (Kher) is framed for. Sunny finds some hidden truths in this, and he does the action very well. His outbreak in court in the climax instantly reminds you of Damini from '93, and this goes to patriotic terms. This is a decent movie overall, if not the best. If you watch this movie, do it for Sunny Deol. He rocks no matter what, as he is truly the 'Force' as the title itself suggests. Everyone else gives in decent performances overall, but as usual, the movie belongs to Sunny Deol. Enjoy! 8/10.

Lakeer is okay as a movie. Sunny Deol shines in the first half, but then he is sidelined in the second half only to show up later in the movie before the climax. The way the movie went, Sunny should have just been in full action. Anyways, the story overall is not too bad, as it does have the 2 biggest action heroes in Bollywood: Sunny Deol and Sunil Shetty. The scenes between them are worth watching. Also, Sunny's avatar is somewhat different from his usual action hero avatar, but he amazes in all areas. I wish that he had more footage in this film. This may not be exactly the best movie, but it is a decent time pass, if you ever do catch it on TV.

Good action movie!
1 February 2007
Maa Tujhe Salaam is Sunny Deol's 3rd movie of the patriotic trilogy of 2001. After the major successes of Gadar and Indian, Sunny is at it again, this time in Kashmir as a Commando, protecting the villagers against terrorists. Sunny Deol is the real macho-man (muscleman) among the other tough stars, and he is just brilliant in the action scenes, which are awesome. I just love it when he roars, as that just boils your blood so hard that you will do anything for the honor of your country. Tabu does well as a supporting commando, but the movie belongs to Sunny Deol. He is just the best action hero in Bollywood. The climax was just amazing and mind-blowing, as Sunny blows out baddies with big machine guns. Later, he is hit by bullets while going uphill with the Indian flag, but Sunny is just unstoppable, and he vanquishes the baddies and then is hospitalized and survives (ending like Imtihaan). Sunny wins the day, yet again. Jai Hind! Sunny Deol Zindabad!

Below average!!
1 February 2007
Teesri Aankh is a thriller with Sunny Deol as the hero. The movie has a novel plot based on a real life incident. However, there are a few things that should have been changed, like half of the stunts, which were poorly done. For example, there is a stunt in which Sunny kicks a van, and a special effect showed this van moving and knocking out 3 goons (Sunny SHOULD have just gone into the van, punch the window, and fire at the baddies), and another scene was in the climax, when a goon flies after being hit by a gun thrown by Sunny (Sunny SHOULD have just fired at that goon); these computer-generated flying goons are stupid. Also the special effects are idiotic and poor, even by our Bollywood standards. Sunny Deol is the real macho-man among macho stars in Bollywood, but he is not Superman or Incredible Hulk. He is a human being after all. Obviously, the stunt coordinator took Sunny's machismo for granted to make him look bad. Sunny should have either told the coordinator to make realistic stunts or just walk out of the movie. These stunts should have been changed to something sensible instead of stupid, but this stunt coordinator is a moron and incompetent. He is at a big fault in this regard. What in the world was he even thinking?!?! I mean, who in their right state of mind would even come up with stupidity like this (kicking a car or create flying computer-generated goons). Very unimaginable and very stupid! DISGRACEFUL! This movie looked incomplete in this regard! If this was a science fiction movie, like Terminator, then it would have been justified, but here, it is NOT even that. The director should have used common sense to tell the stunt coordinator to come up with realistic stunts; or even better, he should have just hired a more competent and skillful stunt coordinator to come up with some sensible, realistic stunts because the one he hired has no skill. How could the director even allow such stupidity?!?! Alongside the dumb special effects, which ruined some of the action in this film, another reason why this movie flopped was because it was a delayed release, as it was supposed to release in late '05. Apart from this, the villains are made to look like sick buffoons, but Sunny is the only street smart character in this film. This could have been much better!! One idiot wrote that he would highly recommend this film with good action. He must be blind. Even though times are changing, but for action films, the action scenes still need to look realistic and well-developed with effort; slacking off does NOT work at all, and exaggeration only ruins the action and makes it less enjoyable and sometimes more ridiculous (depending how far overboard one goes). See the following link to prove this point in this regard.

Funny Sunny rocks!
1 February 2007
Sunny Deol tries comedy for the first time ever in Jo Bole So Nihaal, and he is successful at this, as he gives witty remarks and street talks the FBI (which he calls 'Fully Bewakoof Insan')! As you watch the movie, you will come to realize that Sunny's character, Havaldar Nihaal Singh, is the only smart character in the movie, so if you ever want to watch this film, do it for Sunny. I also like the 'No If! No But! Sirf Jat!' Sunny continues to be amazing in action, and now he adds comedy to his list. Although it is understandable why the movie became controversial, there was no intention of hurting anyone. Sunny was just being funny. The film also has its thrills and fun scenes, although the climax could have been better, but the boat chase in the Everglades was brilliant. If you want laughs, then just sit back and relax and enjoy!

Good action movie!
29 January 2007
Ajay (Hindi for 'Invincible') is Sunny's real name, and he fits the title character perfectly. This is a typical action-packed revenge drama, like Ghayal, Ghatak, and Ziddi, etc. Sunny rocks in action, especially the climax shot atop Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur (my birthplace town in India), which is a thrill to watch. It is not exactly the best, but it is good enough to watch for those who like revenge stories! Sunny Deol does action like no other hero, and he is the best after his dad, Dharmendra. Overall, this is a decent action movie to watch, and if you catch it on TV, do it mainly for our Jat hero, Sunny Deol. Enjoy!!

Cool action movie!
29 January 2007
The Hero is true to its title, especially with Sunny Deol playing the action hero. This is a the second Desi James Bond type movie that Sunny is doing (the first was Himmat in '96). The movie has an interesting direction, thanks to Anil Sharma, who directed the awesome patriotic action film, Gadar. Action in this movie is superb, especially the scene where Sunny falls 11,000 feet down and does not even get hurt (Sunny is known for doing his own death-defying stunts). I like that fight with that giant guy (I forget his name, but I know he is a famous wrestler) and the train climax. Amrish Puri is the greatest and most intriguing villain ever to hit the big screens, and only he could pull off his role as the ISI agent with élan (I do miss seeing him, but he will be remembered forever). (Only flaw was playing the same song repeatedly as it got annoying). The confrontation scenes between Amrish Puri and Sunny Deol are definitely worth watching. Anyways, there are twists and turns to keep you at the edge of your seat. Just sit back and relax and enjoy the movie!! Cheers!!

Decent action movie!
29 January 2007
Jaal is a decent action movie (maybe not the best but alright, or average), although a lot more action would have really been better. Sunny Deol rocks in action, and he does not even roar in this movie. This movie has a major twist, and the thrills that follow and end with a brilliant train climax save the film. I love seeing Sunny terminating the terrorists as a true patriot. Basically, this is a good 2nd half action movie, as the action comes late. There are a couple of big surprises in this movie (Watch this film with an open mind, and you will come to know the real story here). Anyways, this is a good time pass. Enjoy!

Real Patriotism and Heroism.
29 January 2007
Shaheed is a very realistic depiction of our India in the pre-Independence era, as our heroes fought valiantly and stuck strong to their cause of freedom. The Deols, being real Punjabis, fit their characters of Bhagat Singh (Bobby Deol) and Chandrashekhar Azad (Sunny Deol) perfectly. Personally, Sunny should have won Best Supporting Actor for this film, which was sadly ignored by the biased media (the media is ignorant and stupid). This is movie is dramatic, and yet, so invigorating. A movie like this really boils your blood so hard that you just want to go out there and take action with big guns and go after those zamindaars. Stand up for the country's honor and dignity. Action and performances are excellent. If our own Indians today knew about our past and its greatness, it would be in better situations today! You will like this movie a lot!! Cheers!
