Survive the Night (2020)
Well lets see what Bruce Willis has out this week. I think hes overtaking Nicolas Cage in the most straight to DVD work. Now he has out Survive the Night. Its a pretty generic thriller that has 2 brothers headed on their way to Mexico after ripping off 20 grand. After a incident at a convince store one of the brothers gets shot. The invade a doctors home (whos father is a retired cop played by Willis) and threaten their lives if they dont help them. Its a survival story but lacks any real tension and suspense. Its like if you seen the trailer you have pretty much seen the film. Not an awful film and not even Bruce Willis's worst work but pretty lame overall.
Crazy to say the least.
Im interested in the craziest most insane films I can find. I found Loving the Bad Man, the film that says rape victims should befriend their rapists. Also Cries of the Unborn that says kidnapping a woman is OK in certain circumstances.
Now I found Best Friends Genetically Modified. A film that is a crazy conspiracy theorists dream. Basically its a watch everything you eat, anti-vax, anti fluoride and actually anti chemotherapy film. This is the first film that says if you have cancer just walk it off. Its hard to explain really but every scene in the film its just people saying how everything is bad for you. The chemotherapy thing I found to be the most crazy. Granted it should not be forced on anyone but this films says not to seek it out.
I have seen two other films by the filmmakers Chip Rossetti and Donald James Parker. One called Gramps goes to Collage about an old guy going to collage to preach. Also Right to Believe which is a bigoted anti gay piece of crap. So Im really going to take the films these guys make seriously.
Truly a terrible comedy.
So I checked out the comedy Loqueesha. The film is about a bartender who is good at giving advise and needs money to send his son to a private school. He gets a job as a talk radio host but he does it in a voice of a black woman named Loqueesha and things go from there.
It struck some controversy last year as being racist and insensitive. Many could not believe the film was made and many took it as offensive and intolerant. And if a film strike that kind of controversy then I need to see it. The film has a whopping 1.2 on IMDB.
So is it as bad as everyone says? I say yes and not because of the film being racist or intolerant. Simply I did not find anything at all funny. Not a joke or gag works at all. Its just a total mess of incompetent film making. Also it caries some awful green screen effects and pretty bad adr voice over work. Also the film comes of a pretentious and smug like as if the director/star of the film was trying to say something deep with this film. Talk about a vanity project. Its a complete mess, its boring and most of all unfunny. It has my vote for worst movie of 2019 and one of the worst comedies I have ever seen.
A Matter of Faith (2014)
One of the Worst Movies Ever.
A Matter of Faith is a frustrating propaganda piece...and thats mostly what it is. Aside from being an awful film its just Creationist propaganda. The odd thing is is that the Creationists in the film seem more like the villains of the film. The film is about a young girl named Rachel who goes to collage and takes a Biology class in which the professor (Kaman) played by Harry Anderson. He teaches evolution like in a Biology class. Rachel's father gets upset because Evolution is taught and confronts Kaman. Kaman is far more likable in this discussion and film. However Rachael's father wants a creation alternative taught. He wants to interrupt the school system to support his beliefs. He wanted for his daughter to go to a Christian school but she did not. Fine. Shes an adult. She can go to what school she wants. So the message of the film is to not think for yourself or is it that certain parts of science is bad?
The film leads into a straw man debate in which the creations actually cheat and destroy the debate by switching debaters in the middle of the debate. How were these supposed to be the good guys? This is a film about a girl who goes out to the world and getting an education but the film thinks that is a bad thing. A Matter of Faith is an awful film in every way. Its a terrible propaganda film of the worst kind.
Let There Be Light (2017)
One of the Dumbest Films Ever Made.
Let There Be Light is a crazy, stupid, horribly written, horribly directed and mean spirited pile of trash that is just about has to be self parody. After the terrible Gods Not Dead, Kevin Sorbo for some reason is doing more of the same kinda mean spirited junk. Its so mean and crazy it opens with tragedies like 9/11 and the Boston bombing! The film is about a atheist author named Sol Harkens. He is divorced and has two boys. His ex wife and two boys are played by his real life wife and kids. His kids are awful actors. He contributes in atheist/Christian debates in which he seems more of a misotheist than an atheist. At his book part we meet his agent played by Daniel Roebuck who is straight in the film but plays his character is a gay stereotype. Sol gets into a near fatal car accident and sees his deceased son. His son tells him "Let there be Light". Sol leaves the hospital not to long after he gets into the accident. Nothing seems wrong with him physically for some reason. After meeting a pastor (which is a extreme Italian stereotype) he becomes a Christian again. His ex wife think Let There Be Light means that people should shine their cell phone lights to the sky and light up the night. Really? You can light up the nights sky with small cell phone lights?
This film is so crazy and just flat out stupid that its just insulting. Who thought this film was a good idea? People looked at this awful script and agreed to be apart of this? Let There Be Light is one of the worst films of 2017... and possibly ever. Its that awful.
Last Ounce of Courage (2012)
Persecution Complex: The Motion Picture
Last Ounce of Courage is a film that would be great for those who want to feel persecuted but are really not. Its a film that is about the "War on Christmas". Where is this war? Christmas is a big deal every year. Christmas decorations are everywhere to be seen. Christmas items fill the stores. Christmas parades happen ever year. There is no lack of Christmas in America. But this film tries to say there is. Its crazy. Its all a lie. But with a persecution complex film anything is possible.
The film is about Bob Revere (really?). Bob is a very unlikable protagonist who has no personality. Hes a pharmacist and Mayor (really?) and he is upset because Christmas traditions are becoming extinct. Bob wants to put Christmas back in his town in a big way. Plus his teenage grandson and his new friends hatch a plan to destroy their school play. Its all one big silly mess of a film that is way too stupid to take seriously. Its only a good film to poke fun at if anything.
Christmas with a Capital C (2011)
One of the worst Christmas films ever
Christmas with a Capital C is a mean spirited film that exists to bash people who have different views as the filmmakers. The film is about Mayor Dan Reed (Ted McGinley) and his family including his very annoying brother played by Brad Stine getting offended by people saying things other than Merry Christmas. His past rival played by Danial Baldwin returns to town to run for Mayor with his political correctness rubbing off on the town. Dan gets offended by all of this including a scene where he gets upset because he may have to put Hanukkah or Kwanzaa decorations up in town. This film is anti Hanukkah or Kwanzaa. Its a mean film that shows the holidays wrapped in a persecution complex package. What is to like here? Its a hard film to watch because of its stupidity and mean spirited agenda. It even shows horrible stand up from Brad Stine to a routine that everyone should just say Merry Christmas. Just say what you want, celebrate Christmas how you like and best not to watch horrible films like Christmas with a Capital C.
Dull and Lame action thriller.
This was a rough one. It stars Frank Grillo and Bruce Willis. The film is about a bank robbery and the aftermath. It has bank president (Frank Grillo) and his ex cop neighbor (Bruce Willis) trying to figure out who robed the bank and where he will strike next.
The issue is that the film is just rather dull and the characters have no chemistry with each other. However thats not the major issue. The major issue is Bruce Willis. Granted this is a very much lesser performance from him but still thats alright. The big issue is that he is not in some of his scenes. They get a stand in for a good amount of scenes. In the film when we first meet James (Bruce Willis) its not even him. Its just the back of some bald guys head with a poorly edited shot of a close up of Willis spliced in. When we hear him talk Im pretty sure its not even Bruce Willis's voice. This happens a few times. We see the back of a bald guys head and supposed to think is really Bruce. Im guessing they had Bruce for 2 or 3 days only and had to cut corners. How lazy of an actor can you get? Bruce Willis cant even film scenes for a movie thats he was paid to be in.
Accidental Activist (2013)
Hate Filled Propaganda Film Made by a Hate Group.
How does a film like the garbage known as Accidental Activist get made? This film is on par with a Klan rally. It was made by American Family Association, an anti-gay hate group monitored by the Southern Poverty Law Center. And its approved by The Dove Foundation. Its as bad as a film can get and it has to be among the worst films ever made. The film is about Ted a family man who owns a tee shirt detailing business. He signs a anti gay petition although it didnt look like he really cared about it but later he defends it. The word gets out through a gay themed newspaper and he gets protested. His gay friend is deeply offended as he should be. Ted never learns or grows from this he just gets advise from his old lady friend and her son. They are black so I guess the losers who made this film thought that would be less bigoted.
This film is beyond awful. Its a piece of hate propaganda made by a hate group. They have nothing good to say. They couldn't even get to an hour length! You would almost feel sorry for the nuts who made this junk because they have so much hate in the,. Who would sign on for this horrid film? Who would enjoy it? How did it get made. Oh wait I know. When mean people get together they can make a huge load of crap and put it on film.
AIDS: The Judgment of God (2014)
Awful Hateful and Crazy
Steven Anderson made this anti gay hate speech video that is about how God hates gays and gives them AIDS. Ignorant and awful to say the least. Who would like this?
The Comfort Zone (2013)
Ray Comfort is a man who uses guilt to inspire faith. Its a classic con man tactic. He doe his infamous "Are you a Good Person" bit to have people admit that they are bad people. Sure people have flaws and Ray knows how to exploit that. So along with him making money off of people faith here he comes with an awful internet show that has him and his co host talking about religion. Of course a couple of episodes feature bigotry and anti gay garbage. Its all just horrible.
Are You a Good Person? (2010)
An Awful Guilt Trip Propaganda .
Living Waters, Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron brings us this awful little short that says everyone is a bad person. Its a guilt trip piece of propaganda to make people feel bad about being human and flawed. Ray uses his scummy con man like talk to advertise his religion and use guilt to inspire faith. Lame.
God's Not Dead (2014)
The Worst Movie I Have Ever Seen
God's Not Dead is a hateful, bitter and such a unpleasant film. Its a film that is a hate letter to all those who dont have the same views as the filmmakers. In other words its a hate letter to atheists and Muslims. The film has several story lines that are connected. The main plot is about a college freshman named Josh Wheaton who enrolls in a philosophy class and is told to write by Professor Radisson that God does not exist on a sheet of paper. Granted this would not happen in real life because Professor Radisson would be fired. Radisson challenges Josh to a series of debates that just waste all the students time to prove that God exists. The worst point comes in the last debate when Josh says there is no reason to be moral if there is no God. So Josh is a sociopath? If Josh did not have his faith he would do horrible things? That right there makes Josh a very unlikable character. Other plots involve Professor Radissons girlfriend who he insults and makes her feel low at a party full of atheists. The atheists in this film are all portrayed as stereotypes who are all very unpleasant. Another has a forighen student arguing with his father on the existence of God. Another involves a young woman who is a liberal atheist who has cancer. She is later dumped on the spot by her lawyer boyfriend but finds faith but a band called The News Boys who are heavily advertised in the film. Another plot involves two pastors trying to get to an amusement park and another involves the lawyer and Radissons girlfriends mom who has dementia. Now the last plot involves a girl who is supposed to be a Muslim (who only wears a hijab and nothing else) and her strict father who abuses her and throws her out of the house when he finds out she is really a Christian. Its a crazy scene. Its trying to show Muslims as bad even though this kinda thing happens in all religions. The film goes on through a series of debates with Josh and Radisson. Its really just scenes of preachy straw men arguments that ends up with the students takes the side of Josh. It all ends up at a Newsboys concert in which a character gets run over and dies but since he repented before he died one of the pastors says its a good day right after he watched a guy die right in front of him! On top of everything else the film ends stating court cases were this film was based. They were mostly just unpopular pinions given by students and not persecution by religion. Gods Not Dead is a horrible film. The film is a mess. A very mean spirited mess of hate. Its the worst movie I have ever seen because of that.
Gramps Goes to College (2014)
Was this supposed to be this awful?
Gramps Goes to College is about a older man (later nicknamed Gramps) who decides to go to college so he can teach people about his faith. Its a preachy, stupid film that is more propaganda than actual film making. Gramps is a very unlikable character. He just goes back to school to preach and be a annoyance to the school system. However the main professor comes off a cartoon and tells the students that there is no God much like Kevin Sorbo in Gods Not Dead. Aside from spreading his faith Gramps starts a sports team but only wants Christians on his team. Again this shows how unlikable he is by actually discriminating against people of other faiths. In one instance he gets asked for an autograph for standing up to the professor and he actually turns the kids down. Gramps never learns or grows from his collage experience he just stays a unlikable man who goes and rants about religion and one of fluoride in the water. The film gets more insane as one of the college girls actually dies at a party and comes back to life and she claims she went to Hell. The whole film comes off like the crazed ramblings of a cranky old man. Then again this film was made by the same people who made one of the most bigoted films ever made The Right to Believe. Gramps Goes to College is just a very painful and annoying film only to be seen to poke fun at.
Joker's Wild (2016)
I came across a horror/thriller called Joker's Poltergeist aka Jokers Wild. So why do I bring this one up? Well this film I would say is rather insensitive.
The film stars Eric Roberts and Martin Cove. Its about a young woman named Aurora who survives a mass shooting at her fathers movie theater. The shooter is dressed in a clown mask. Sounding familiar? Yes they made a film that is a take on the real life 2012 Aurora, Colorado shooting. Plus the film tries to have some message about guns. Im guessing its a pro gun stance but the message and film is so poorly done. Plus the film is so confusing with the supernatural elements that happen later in the film. Also its dreadfully boring even at 66 minutes (minus the end credits).
The Fanatic (2019)
Not Travolta's Worst Film.
The Fanatic starring John Travolta and directed by Fred Durst. I noticed the DVD or Blu Ray was not in stores. I rented this from Redbox. Are they not even putting this film out to buy? I have heard many negative things about this film. It holds a 3.9 on gave it Zero Stars out of 4. Is it that bad? I see where people and critics are coming from because it is a rather mean spirited film. I have heard the film has a hatred towards fans. Im not sure of Fred Durst's intent because it looks like he based this film on an incident that happened to him.
Travolta stars as Moose a slow movie/star obsessed fan who seeks out an autograph from actor Hunter Dunbar played by Devon Sawa. When turned down and insulted by his favorite movie star Moose stalks him and eventually invades his house. The film is rather a crazy look at Hollywood and its star obsessed fans. I guess this film was supposed to have a social commentary on that but it seemed to miss the mark. Best to look at it as a basic thriller and nothing else. Travolta gives a pretty good performance as Moose and for whats its worth the film is pretty entertaining. However it feels so mean and so empty. Although those may be good qualities for a nasty thriller. I dont think its as bad as critics said but its vary far from Pulp Fiction territory. However its no Battlefield Earth either.
Stallone's Worst Film
So at the store last week and along with getting Avengers Endgame on Blu Ray I noticed a pretty new action/thriller with Sylvester Stallone and Matthew Modine called Backtrace. But you know something is wrong when the film is less than a year old and the Blu Ray is already in the bargain bin. The film is just a very boring mess that run 82 minutes (without credits) and still could have been at least 20 minutes shorter.
The plot has a thief (Matthew Modine) and a few other criminals getting shot down by their partners. Modine survives but looses his memory. Seven years later 3 people break him out of a high security facility and put experimental drugs in him. Most of the film is watching Modine have painful flashbacks and looking for bags of money. We get some scenes of Stallone in random cop exposition scenes. But most of the film is just boring scenes of them looking for bags of money. Very little happens in the film. There is two shootout scenes but nothing that exciting. The whole film lacks in every department especially in character development. This is Stallones worst work.
Cries of the Unborn (2017)
First off Im always on the look out for the bizarre, disturbing and most controversial films I can find. I dont think I can top this one. And oddly enough it stars the late Robert Loggia! Well kinda. He is advertised in the film but it all footage from another film.
The film is called Cries of the Unborn which is a semi sequel to The Life Zone. The film makes zero sense in contrast to the first film and leaves many errors in the film as it stands. The Film has a 1.3 on IMDB as of now. Anything above a 1 is too high. So what makes this film so messed up? The film is about a group of people who kidnapped a young woman who was going to have an abortion. Now on trail the group has admitted their crime. Why this is a trial after the confession I do not know. The jury on the trial talks the case out and watches footage from the kidnapping (made up of footage from The Life Zone). Also they mentally toured her and inspected her area. and debate if the kidnappers should be set free. Here is where it gets twisted. Regardless on your feelings on abortion this film makes a deliberate statement and message that kidnapping a person is alright in this circumstance. They also try to justify what they did. Again they abducted a woman for 7 months and mentally tortured her. And this film actually takes the side of the abductors! Cries of the Unborn: The film that says kidnapping is perfectly fine in certain circumstances.
This is one the craziest most damaging films imaginable. Im ranking this as the second worst film I have ever seen.
Pet Sematary (2019)
Nothing redeeming in this remake.
This is one of the worst remakes I have ever seen. I really hated this film. Its just a very generic redo that is not scary or even amusing.
The 1989 film has so much more going for it. It was much more creepier and had a great tension through the whole film. Its generally freaky. The new one has none of that. I felt it was just a quick cash in of Stephen Kings material. I could not find a thing I liked about it. The original had a firm grip on the deal of death and the loss of a loved one. It felt much more powerful and real than this this film. This film seemed to lack the emotion the original had. Plus I felt John Lithgow was pretty miscast as Jud Crandle. The whole film I felt nothing for. Just another generic remake with nothing I can find thats reedeeming or positive I can say about this.
Escape Plan: The Extractors (2019)
An OK action film. Nothing more.
Simply put its watchable but nothing that good. Its a cheap looking direct to DVD generic action film. It has a simple rescuing hostages plot that makes the film a breaking into prison film rather than breaking out. Stallone and Dave Bautista do what they can with the material. 50 Cent is advertised as a lead but is only in it for 5 minutes or so. The thing I got a kick out of is the run time. Take out the end credits and the opening logos and the film only runs about 75 minutes. The end credits go very slow and put little bits of the film in there to boost the run time to 88 minutes.
The Poison Rose (2019)
Pass on this Poison
Well this was lame. Its the new John Travolta/Morgan Freeman film that went direct to DVD/Blu Ray. It was trying to be an old fashioned mystery/Noir film but lacks anything that would make that kind of film work. Its not mysterious, well written, interesting or entertaining. Just one of those P.I. trying to solve a case films. Travolta looks bizarre in this grey beard he has. Freeman is fine but hes just there for a quick paycheck obviously. Famke Janssen sadly looks really weird and puffy in the face. She must of had some work done. Dont know why she was beautiful. The only saving grace in this film comes from Brendan Fraser who plays a nutty doctor in charge of a psych ward. The film should have been about him. So unless you want to see Travolta take out an assassin by throwing a football directly in his face I would advise against seeing this film. Hell I think Battlefield Earth is a better film. Sure its really bad but its still more amusing than Poison Rose.
Dragged Across Concrete (2018)
Almost good but destroyed by an odd pace.
So I saw Dragged Across Concrete and a good amount of it I really enjoyed. I like the cast. I thought Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn were good. I liked the plot. The villains are good. And the film is well crafted.
But seriously what the hell was with the pace of this film? I heard of slow burn films but this is just ridiculous. A slow film is fine but after a while I felt we were just stalling to get the run time as close to 3 hours as we can. Theres a point where it just gets boring and tedious. I guess there are people who like that and of course thats fine but I figure most people would like a fast or at least well paced film. Also there is subplot with Jennifer Carpenter where she does not want to leave her baby to go to work and the result is her getting killed right after they establish her character. Did not know what that had to do with anything or what the point of that was.
A real mixed bag here.
Death Factory (2002)
Fun low budget horror.
Death Factory is about a group of young people hanging out in an old abandoned factory but there is a deformed young woman with blades on her fingers slashing them up one by one. Its simple but if you like low budget slashers then I would recommend it.
Hell's Highway (2002)
Good low budget horror.
Hell's Highway is about four young people on a road trip who pick up a young woman named Lucinda. They soon find out that Lucinda is an evil woman who kills people along the highway. They try to stay clear of her and to stay alive. Its a film from Brain Damage cinima who specializes in low budget horror. This is one of their best films.
Right to Believe (2014)
Bigoted and very dull. One of the worst films imaginable.
Right To Believe is about a reporter that has to do a report on Gay Pride Day. Instead of covering the story by interviewing a parade organizer and writing the story like he is supposed to it turns into a debate between religion and homosexuality. Why would anyone want to make or be involved with this junk film? Its a anti gay propaganda film thats not only highly bigoted its very boring as well. One of the worst films I have ever seen.
