- Chander is the only tailor in his colony. Though talented, he is very lazy. He dreams of becoming big and live like a king. Chander meets a fortune-teller who informs him that he has Rajyog and that he should marry a Padmini jati girl with a mole on her right lap. His search for the right girl takes him to a yoga teacher, a widowed doctor and an unmarried girl. But to his dismay he finds none of them matches his requirements. Finally when he finds the right girl, he is in a dilemma. The three girls want to marry him at any cost. Now, he finds himself sandwiched between three girls and Radhika.
- A theft took place in a bank whose manager commits suicide and a girl is shot dead. Sundaram belongs to the family which is effected by the theft. The rest of the story is all about how he faces the consequences in finding the culprit.
- This film features Marthanda Varma (Jaidev), the legendary founder and King of the Travancore State (now Kerala) from 1706-58. It tells the story of love between Anantha Padmanabham (Menon) and Parukutty (Padmini), the political conspiracy of Padmanabha Thampi (Naik) and the heads of the eight Nair Houses against Marthanda Varma. It opens with newsreel coverage of the Aarattu procession of the Travancore Maharaja Chithira Thirunal, including elephants, cavalry and the Nair Brigade before embarking on the story of the King's ancestors. Scenes from the young Marthanda Varma's youth are inter-cut with well-known episodes from the novel.
