Stan nows flees town, but gets on Bad Mike's horse, which takes him to Bad Mike's house. Bad Mike and his gang arrive at the house, after robbing the saloon. They soon hear Stan, and an epic gun battle follows, with the town Sheriff not far behind.

He marries a girl about to drown herself because she is to bear a child out of wedlock; his "wife" disappears immediately afterward, leaving a note signed "Alice Louise MacFarlane." With the aid of a neighbor, Margaret Cameron, Jamie soon recovers his health. He is notified that his "wife" has given birth to a son, but when he arrives at the hospital Jamie discovers another woman wearing his ring. She dies, and Molly Cameron (Mrs. Cameron's daughter), the girl he really married, appears and confesses that she married Jamie to get her sister Alice a wedding ring and a marriage certificate to protect her reputation. All ends well, and Jamie remarries Molly.
- The assistant foreman of the San Francisco Chronicle press-room, Tom MacDonald is passed over for the post of foreman in favor of a younger man. He gains satisfaction, though, when his son, Ray, obtains a good job in the district attorney's office. Reporter Clarence Walker, in love with MacDonald's daughter, Polly, is sent to obtain evidence against notorious bootlegger Sam Blotz, who is protected by Assistant District Attorney Gerald Fuller. Blotz and Fuller frame Ray to put Walker off their track. Although his conscience bothers him, Walker reports the story in time for the last edition. MacDonald attempts to stop the presses, and when Blotz's henchman, "Red" Moran, blows up the building, MacDonald is blamed and put in jail with his son. Walker eventually uncovers evidence exonerating the father and son, MacDonald is made foreman, and a new newspaper plant is built.
- "Red" Wade, a star high-school football player, has intentions of going to Claxton College, which has a powerhouse football team, but changes his mind when he meets the sister of the pitiful Paramlee team and goes to college there, just as his father, an alum of the school, had wished. But his father has ordered him not to play football. "Dad" Wade, has offered a $100,000 endowment to his old school, not knowing his son has joined the football team, but is going to withdraw it if his son plays in the Big Game against Claxton. This puts "Red" between a rock and a hard place.
- Aloysius Appleby, known as Ally, leaves his small town for Baldwin College and promises his Aunt Polly and Uncle Lish that he will not indulge in sports. Horatio Winston, a senior at the college, becomes jealous of Ally's powerful physique and plans to make him the college boob. Ally meets Angela Boothby (Horatio's girl), is immediately smitten, and pesters his roommate, Shorty Buzelle, for information about her. At a "pep" dance, the boys dress Ally in a ridiculous manner: he is severely ridiculed, and, at Angela's insistence, he promotes some respect with his fists. Pop Warren, the football coach, encourages him to try out for the team, in spite of his promise, and he is the hero of the first game. Later, when Ally refuses to play, Angela explains the importance of his playing to his aunt and uncle. They come to the game, and Ally goes in in time to save the team.
- A saxophone player Clyde, who busks on the San Francisco Bay waterfront. One night, he meets Flowers, and teaches her to dance, but finds that "Blackjack", the leader of a ruthless gang, is also in love with her.
- Two orphans, a near-blind architect, and a kindly young secretary form a makeshift family as they overcome financial hardships, while also thwarting the designs of both a loutish suitor and a persistent truant officer.
- Tom Markham is the foreman of an Arizona dude ranch. He travels to the "big city" for a meeting with the ranch's owner, George Brooks, after which he will accompany Brooks' daughter Ellen back to the ranch. Brooks tells Tom about the Regent diamond, a valuable stone that Brooks has set in a ring for Ellen. Ellen's friend Rodney Stevens hears about it. Stevens, who is actually the boss of a bandit gang, has his men steal the diamond, but Tom manages to get it back. Stevens doesn't give up, though, and hatches a plan that will get him back the diamond and frame Tom for stealing it.
- A burlesque of Rudolph Valentino's "Monsieur Beaucaire." As M. Don't Care, he is forced to flee France for England and takes work as a barber. Complications follow - duels, a love affair with the Belle of Bath and the expose of M. Don't Care as a prince.
- Supposedly a deaf-mute, Jack Taylor arrives in Valley City at the same time that Postmaster Dad Warner is threatened with the loss of his job because of the many recent mail thefts. Taylor suspects Warner's clerk, Law Sleeman, and is consequently captured by a gang led by local politician Dick Blackwell. He escapes, stops another robbery, rescues Lillian Warner, captures the gang, reveals himself to be a Secret Service agent, and wins Lillian's hand.
- about a little boy and girl that meet in a beautiful garden and the little girl promises the boy that some day she would meet him there again. He goes off to study the violin in Italy and when he returns he finds the girl in the garden.
- Alice is dancing aboard her ship with a veritable zoo of a crew. Meanwhile, in the galley, the chef (a cat) is preparing food while his assistant, a mouse, is peeling potatoes. When the chef complains that they need eggs, the mouse is enlisted to retrieve them from the crow's nest. The birds there give him a rough time, but he's eventually able to capture one and strong-arm three eggs out of it. When he returns, though, he finds the chef now wants some milk, and so he's off to find the ship's goat, with similar comedic results.
- Heath Haldane (Houdini) tracks down a vicious gang of counterfeiters, narrowly missing death several times. He must rescue Adele Ormsby, whom he loves despite her pending marriage.
- Mary's kid brother needs an operation and, in order to pay for it, Mary goes to a Hollywood studio and applies for a job as an actress. Mary is given a job as a waitress in the commissary, and gets to meet 40 actors, actresses and directors, none of whom tip big enough to enable Mary to earn enough money to pay for an operation. Will Mary become an actress and make some big money? Does corn grow in Iowa?
- Disguising herself as a masked bandit, Catalina, the ward of the governor of a Spanish province, avenges injustice, aids the poor, and plots a revolution. Hugh Winthrop, a young American who owns mines in the province, comes to inspect them and is kidnapped by Catalina, who suspects him of being an enemy of the people. He escapes but meets Catalina later at the governor's palace, where they are arrested for stealing state papers. Catalina escapes, and Hugh is sentenced to be executed. As he is standing before the firing squad, Catalina and her followers ride in and save him. The governor, who was responsible for many of the province's ills, is convicted; and Hugh and Catalina are united.
- John Stuart Webster having prospecting in Death Valley prosperously, boards a train for Denver and rescues Dolores Ruey, a beautiful Central American girl who was reared in the United States, from a masher. Webster learns that his pal Billy Geary has discovered gold in Sobrante, Central America. He leaves to help, but develops ptomaine poisoning on the way. After recovering in New Orleans, Webster saves a man from being killed in a park. Later, the man, Ricardo Ruey, hides in Webster's steamer room and relates that his father, the former president of Sobrante, was assassinated by the present ruler, Sarros. In Sobrante, Webster finds that Geary is in love with Dolores, who arrived earlier. After sending Geary to marry Dolores while he develops the mine, Webster learns that Dolores is Ricardo's sister, although neither knows this. While fighting for the victorious Ricardo, who becomes president, Webster is wounded. He recovers to find Dolores nursing him, and when she says that she does not love Geary, he confesses his love and soon plans are made to marry.
- Stan Laurel stars as a tramp, "a fierce, fiery, fearless, two-fisted loafer." Trouble announces itself as a plate loaded with doughnuts on a windowsill. The farmer's daughter takes pity on him and Stan falls in love. Before the end there will be tears, broken dishes and more doughnuts.
- Dad Randall is forced to mortgage his cattle to pay a debt to Ivor Johnson, who has bought them after stealing the receipts for the money Randall actually has paid. His son, Dean, returns home from action in the trenches and saves John Stickley, his daughter Grace, and a child from the grasping tactics of Texas Pete, a Johnson hireling who is charging for use of the waterhole. Meanwhile, Dad Randall is being forced to sign over the ranch, but Dean arrives and disposes of the villains just before Dad's death. When Johnson's cattle are rustled, Dean goes to work for him to track down the rustlers; returning the stolen cattle, Dean is tricked by Johnson, but with the aid of Grace and his horse, Silver King, he escapes. By a pulley stunt, Dean leads his pursuers into the sheriff's trap, and following a final showdown with Johnson, Dean and Grace are united.
- Orphaned as children, David and his sister are sent to live with separate families. Both are abused and the sister dies. Filled with hostility, the now-grown David goes on a mission to seek vengeance on his sister's adoptive family.
- Zarah, a beautiful Arabian played by Olive Borden, saves irrigation engineer Bob Winslow (Hugh Trevor) from being abducted by bandit leader Abdullah (Noah Beery).
- Tom O'Day (Johnnie Walker) is in love with the stepdaughter of the trading post factor, who mysteriously dominates Tom's father. Jealous of Tom, The Factor (Harry Von Meter) exposes the father as a murderer, but Tom proves otherwise, thus clearing his father, convicting the factor, and winning the girl (Ruth Clifford).
- Lars Larson, a Swedish sea captain, returns home after a long voyage and finds that his wife, Anna, and their child have been kidnapped by Karl Kruger, captain of The Gretchen; bitter against the world, he becomes a smuggler. Twenty years later, the United States Navy is preparing for its epochal nonstop airplane flight from San Francisco to Hawaii. Owing to a fuel shortage the plane is forced to alight on the sea, where the commander and Jack Connell, second officer, keep up the crew's spirits; and while they are being sought by a battle fleet, the PN9 drifts to an uncharted desert island, where they find Jan Berg, an old sailor, and Marie Larson, who survived a shipwreck. Nevers falls in love with Marie, Larson's lost daughter. Aboard Larson's ship, Ah Wing, leader of some Chinese coolies, spies Marie on the island and determines to possess her; a battle ensues between the Chinese and the aviators and ship's crew. A Navy submarine arrives, and its crew aids in subduing the Chinese; Larson discovers that Marie is his daughter; and she is united with Jack.
- Joe Holland, the superintendent of a gold mine, saves his invalid friend, Weadon Scott, from a pack of wolves. Frank Wilde, an executive engaged to Holland's daughter, Mollie, buys White Fang, a man-eating dog, from an Indian and matches him with a bulldog in a pit fight. Scott rescues the dog and tames him. After Mollie Holland marries Wilde, she discovers that he is robbing the mine. Mollie tells Scott of Wilde's perfidy, but Wilde escapes, blackjacking Scott and killing Holland. Orphaned, Mollie goes to the home of Judson Black, the owner of the mine. Wilde attempts to spirit her away and is killed by White Fang. Scott and Mollie eventually find happiness together.
- Veteran postman Bob Morley (Ralph Lewis) and his son Johnnie (Johnnie Walker) are honored for their service to the U. S. Mail Service. When Johnnie takes a position on the Enterprise, he is falsely convicted of theft and murder when the cargo is stolen and the ship's officer is shot. Finally, a confession from the real culprit saves Johnnie from being executed.
- Julius wins a bronc-riding contest at the rodeo. However, Pete steals his prize money, so Julius must go after him to get it back.
- Julius discovers that Alice has been captured by Pete and held prisoner on his pirate ship. He sets out to rescue Alice.
- Attracted to ranch owner Doris Hampton, Jack O'Neil impersonates convict "Angel Face" Harry, who is to be released from prison (a reform measure) to work on Doris' ranch. Jack discovers that Doris' cattle are being stolen by her foreman, Steve Gore, finds Gore's hiding place, and keeps him at bay until Doris rides up at the critical moment with help.
- Tom and Tod Pembroke are the twin sons of Jefferson Pembroke, a Virginia Bishop, and are divinity-school students. Tom is serious and Tod carefree and adventurous, and both are in love with Ruth Featherstone. Tod is expelled from the school and, seeing that Ruth loves Tom, he sets sail for China. Five years later, Tom, a missionary, and his bride Ruth are on the way to establish a mission at Paroa, in the Java Sea. En route, Tom catches island-fever, and their vessel is captured by a pirate calling himself Captain Blaze Devine. The latter is really Tod Pembroke, but his heavy beard makes him unrecognizable, but he recognizes his brother and Ruth. Devine learns of his brothers mission, shaves his beard and sails for Paroa, and poses as his ill-brother. "Bully" Rawden, the island trader opposes the building of a mission, but Tod whips him in a fight, and holds services that night. Marietta, Rawden's daughter, falls in love with him, but Tod, unable to reveals his true identity, has to conceal his feelings for her.
- When he is jilted, Alan Remington, the son of a wealthy Washington politician, falls into a state of deep depression. On the advice of Professor Hollister, from whom he is purchasing a death ray, the elder Remington attempts to divert Alan by providing him with excitement. At this time, a gang of foreign agents, led by Darwin Kershaw, Remington's secretary, kidnap both the inventor and his daughter, Carolyn, and steal the death ray, but not before the resourceful girl has thrown the control key to the ray out of the window, where it lands in Alan's car. The conspirators attempt to regain the key, but they are mockingly foiled on several occasions by Alan, who thinks they are men hired by his father to jolt him out of his depression. Alan eventually realizes that the men are seriously trying to kill him, and he sets out to bring them to justice. Alan prevents the agents from destroying several naval gunboats, rescues the Hollisters, and rounds up the aliens, handing them over to the F. B. I.
- Spectacle in the expected silent Italian style with elaborate sets, athletic events, and a notorious Roman empress lusting after a Persian slave who drives chariots.
- During a match with an opponent called The Weazel, a boxer named The Lightning Kid comes to believe that he has crippled his opponent. Distraught, he leaves the ring, vowing never to box again, and changes his name to Bob Trent. Sometime later he fights out that not everything was as he thought it was.
- When the local hotel is found to be on fire, the firemen (all of them Julius the cat lookalikes), led by Fire Chief Alice, are called in. The residents are busy escaping the blaze while the cats get to work helping them out of the building and putting out the flames. When a feline tenant gets caught on the top floor, one of the firemen bravely saves her by riding a smoke cloud up to reach her, but when they get back to the ground, he finds her expiring from smoke inhalation. He saves the day by rolling the smoke out of her with a rolling pin, and when she revives the two fall instantly in love.
- Raised by a strict and puritanical spinster aunt, Sheila Fairfax is the innocent victim of a scandal caused by an all-night escapade with José Gonzales. In spite of her undeserved reputation, Dick Morris, a mining engineer, marries her. On their wedding night, she is so filled with fear of Dick's embraces that she repulses him. Thinking that Sheila does not love him, Dick goes to South America in order to buy a mine from Don Alfonso. Sheila follows, hoping to win him back, realizing that the influence of her repressed aunt is responsible for the false modesty that has separated them. Dick and Sheila become the guests of Don Alfonso, uncle of José Gonzales. Don Alfonso and José vie for her regard, and Alfonso kills José in a fight. Dick faces a firing squad under Alfonso's orders, but Sheila saves him by a ruse and they escape, happily reunited.
- José Fernand, leader of a gang of bootleggers, has designs on Helen Barnes, a shop girl who supports her delicate sister, and with the aid of Olive Wood, an adventuress, he lures the sisters to a supposed yachting trip. At sea, Helen is attacked by Fernand and dashes to the wireless operator for assistance, but a storm arises and an SOS is barely sent before the ship sinks. An ocean liner, picking up the call, starts for the rescue, and Jack Seville, Helen's sweetheart, a Navy aviator, comes by plane. The sisters and Fernand are cast up on an island and are there sheltered by a hermit, its only inhabitant. Seville and his pilot make a forced landing, and following a struggle between Seville and Fernand the entire party is rescued by the ocean liner.
- Smalltown runaway teen Hattie Lou is hired as maid for the Van Gore family, bound for the South Seas on their yacht. On board she falls for the son Spencer, who "marries" her in a mock wedding. A baby and hard times result from the union.
- Jeff Decker, with the help of Indian leader Red Dog, orchestrates a series of raids on the town of Coldwater, planning to drive the residents out of town and buy up all of their horses, while also starting false rumors of a gold strike outside of town so he can sell phony claims to prospective miners. He hires Fred Coulter, a struggling miner, to buy the horses. Decker also decides that he wants pretty Ruth Browning, whose aunt owns the local eating establishment. Fred learns of Decker's duplicity, and tries to get the miners and townspeople together to fight off an impending Indian attack orchestrated by Decker.
