- Kuki is a veteran newspaper reporter who has been shuffled off to a book-development branch and finds escape in an illicit relationship with Rinko. Together they find the passion no longer present in their marriages.
- Based on the ancient Japanese Tale of Genji. This film is set in 900AD and tells the story of a famous female writer of the time, Murasaki Shikibu. Her story begins from the death of her husband, a Japanese noble, then moves on to her recruitment to train the Prince's young 'wives in waiting'. It is dotted throughout and actually composed mainly of one of the fictional stories she wrote, the tale of Genji. Genji is a rich playboy who falls in love and has a son to his stepmother. He falls in love often and has many wives whom are all completely subservient to him. Genji is played by a woman actress from the all-female Takarazuka theatre. The two interrelating stories are also interrupted occasionally by fantasimical musical clips from a past Japanese teen-idol, Seiko Matsuda.
- Kanzo Hattori, an apprentice ninja, leaves his hometown of Iga to go to Edo (Tokyo). There, for his final training, he must find himself a master, and protect his master with his life, whilst upholding the ninja code.
- Palme is a puppet created by a man for his sickly wife. After her death, Palme becomes paralyzed with sorrow until he happens to cross paths with a woman being pursued who asks him to deliver something precious to a sacred place called Tama.
- Toji is a popular high school boy who is easy to get, but difficult to keep. He will date anyone who asks him on a Monday, but is done with the person by the end of the week. Fellow student Yuzuru has broken many girls' hearts and been dumped often. Then Yuzuru becomes interested in Toji and spontaneously asks him out.

Sanpo wants to share his knowledge of the mountains to others. When Sanpo is called into action he never blames others even though their predicament is usually caused by them. Kumi Shiina is new volunteer mountain rescuer attempting to follow in her father's footsteps. Under the guidance of rescue leader Masato Noda and Sanpo, Kumi undergoes a strict training regiment. Kumi also learns the perils of her new job - failed missions, the bereaved families blaming the rescuers, and the awesome power of mother nature itself. Kumi becomes tired and loses her confidence. A raging winter storm then strikes the mountain. Multiple distress calls come in. Kumi goes out for a rescue mission and what awaits for her is an unimaginable threat from mother nature.

- Through a coincidence Tozaki runs into Kurata, his first crush from high school. They begin a relationship, but Kurata's jealousy starts causing problems.
- A woman is found dead and 3 other women, incarcerated at a psychiatric hospital. A detective and his partner start to investigate the case. They soon find themselves tangled in a web of the women's lies and deceptions.
- Aki, a former guitarist for a punk band, has a daughter Hatsuki and live together happily, but they have opposite personalities. Then Yagu, also an ex-member of the same punk band, who has feelings for Aki, enters their life.
- There is a degree of realism when a professional in the field writes about his vocation and such is the case here. Adopted from a novel written by a doctor and set in Nagano, doctor Kuriharai is overwhelmed by the number and variety of patients he has to see due to a shortage of physicians where he practices. He aspires to work somewhere more convenient, specialize and see more of his wife, but faces a dilemma many other doctors experience. What will happen to his patients should he move on?
