- The story shows the development of the united state in divergent fields : Political, social and even economic field.
- Married couples Day and Fanny Illington and Ferd and Ida Jackson spend their considerable amount of leisure time at their country club. An avid golfer, Day leaves Fanny alone for long periods, and she soon falls prey to Ferd's self-appointed companionship. At Ferd's suggestion, they attend an island "affinity" party for men and women neglected by their spouses. Ferd and Fanny are accidentally left on an island, but after they struggle back to the mainland, Fanny learns that husband Day and Ida Jackson have been having an affinity party of their own. Everyone realizes the error of their ways, and resolves that they were already married to the ones with whom they had the most affinity.
- Todd Wilkins, a wealthy young man who aspires to be a writer, is advised by his publisher to improve his writing by learning about life and seeking adventure. Heeding the advice, Todd heads for San Francisco's Barbary Coast, where he rents a room in a boarding house. A short time later, when a murdered man is found in Todd's room, he is accused of the crime. After a series of misadventures, Todd unmasks the real murderer, a cardsharp, and wins the love of the landlady's daughter.
- Lee Holly, a card shark, has brought up his daughter, Monte, in boys' clothing, She escapes to an Indian village when Holly is chased out of town and remains there two years with her friend Akkomi, resuming feminine attire and taking the name Tana. Dan Overton, a young prospector, becomes interested in her and takes her to live with white people in a boardinghouse. She is introduced by Dan to his mining partner, Harris, as "Montana Rivers," the daughter of a partner of his, but Harris recognizes her as "Lee Holly's brat" and denounces her. Dan defends her, and after Harris suffers a paralyzing stroke, he relents and makes her a partner in their mine. Holly comes to their camp after they strike gold and is killed by Harris, who learns that Tana is the daughter who was stolen from him. Dan's unfaithful wife is killed by a jealous lover, freeing him to marry Tana.
- A ranch owner fires his foreman for whipping a horse. Angry, the foreman joins a gang of rustlers who plan to steal the rancher's horses. However, the former foreman's sister finds out about the plans and sets out to stop her brother from entering a life of crime.
- Race promoter Ellis (Larry Steers) induces Tish (Trixie Friganza), an "automaniac," to innocently finance a motor race. Jasper McCutcheon (Ralph Graves), Tish's friend, is about to win the race when Ellis' paid cohorts force him out. Informed by the sheriff that she will be jailed for conspiracy unless an outsider wins the race, Tish jumps into a car and drives to victory.
- The town of Jawbone possesses two stagecoach lines, which makes for competition between the two lines, one represented by the "Trust" and the other by the "Independents." The "trust" line represented the worst element and the "independent" the best. Jed Black heads the 'trust" and is surrounded by a bunch of disreputables and dog-henchmen, and John Grayson, head of the "independent" is about to get run out of business because he is less aggressive and more honest than his competitor, Jed Black. Grayson has mortgaged his ranch to keep his stage line running, but since he sees nothing but good in everyone, especially his employees, it's no surprise that all of his stagecoach-business employees are selling him out to the opposition by doing everything in their power to ruin his business, and that includes his weakling son Jim, who likes to gamble, and since Black also owns the Jawbone saloon where Jim gambles, and since Grayson runs a crooked gambling house, young Jim is soon up to his weakling-ears in debt to his father's competitor. Meanwhile, back at the mortgaged ranch, Grayson only faithful and honest employee is his ranch foreman, Walt Powers. The latter, since he is sweet on Grayson's daughter Alma, decides to help Grayson by taking over the stage line and winning the government mail-contract that will save the day for Grayson.
- Cowboy "Two Fisted Thompson" falls in love with a visiting society girl, whom he saves from a gang of desperadoes. When the girl returns to the city and her wealthy friends, she forgets about Thompson and scorns his affection when he goes East to see her. Later, Thompson regains her love.
