- Ed Sayers and Ben Gregor came up with a novel idea for making films and engaging the film community. They bought a load of old super 8 film cartridges and sent them up to various filmmakers. The challenge to each was to make a 3-minute film without any edits or post-production and not to see that film until it is shown in front of a live audience and on television. Attracting well-known directors and students alike, the project spawned quite a following as well as this short television series, showcasing about 10 of the shorts over two episodes.

- On January 8, 1863 the Confederate Artillery attacked the Union force occupying Springfield, MO. In a letter written to his wife, Judith, Union LT. James Hotchkiss relates how he and Confederate CPL. Charles Wellmont seek shelter in the same foxhole early in the battle. Though initially attempting to kill each other, the two decide upon an uneasy truce based on mutual survival. While the battle rages around them, the two soldiers come to realize that they have much in common. Although they come from drastically different backgrounds, both have left wives, children, and loving families behind. Somehow the ideals of their respective causes seem to pale by comparison to the personal sacrifices they are suffering. The day fades to frigid night and neither soldier dares light a fire. With his dying breath, Lt. Hotchkiss relates his conviction that, duty or not, he has murdered Charles Wellmont, an act which has doomed his soul for all eternity. It is rumored that General Brown was so moved by the letter, that he personally delivered the letter to Judith in the months following the armistice.

- Shot on Super 8 for the Straight 8 2020 Competition. Each of the films were made on one roll of Super 8 film, with only in-camera editing and no post production. The Straight 8 2020 Jury was made up of Jo Duncombe, Justine Wright, Katie Metcalfe, Robbie Ryan and Asif Kapadia. The selected films screen at The Cannes Film Festival and in London. Jinx premiered in London as part of the Best Films of 2020 Straight 8.
