- Art and Jasper, a poor American boy and his faithful dog, have only each other in the face of a cruel world, which constantly imperils their liberty. Art's efforts to raise $2 for Jasper's tax brings him into conflict with the law, but he eventually proves his good intentions and finds a loving home with the Dorays.
- Jack Johnson, the first African-American heavyweight boxing champion, plays himself in a sports-themed melodrama where Joe Walker (Reed Thomas), a "98-pound weakling" is forced to step up when his girlfriend, Molly Moran (Blanche Thompson) is falsely accused of grand larceny. Joe meets up with Johnson, who teaches him the manly art of self-defense as well as the sportsmanship and fair play to the point where Walker leads the black baseball team the Kansas City Monarchs to victory over the Detroit Stars (using the actual players), as well as discovering that his rival Tom Atkins (Walter Simpson) had framed his girlfriend, Molly Moran, whereupon he brings him to justice and frees her.
- After a forward containing a plea for uniform divorce laws throughout the United States to be enacted, and claiming that some 600,000 marriages are illegal, June Redding, the owner of a Western ranch, marries John Stark, a lawyer, in New York. Soon Stark sinks into dissipation and withdraws money from June's bank account to support his bad habits. Enraged by his neglect and dishonesty, June leaves him and, unable to secure a New York State divorce, obtains one in Reno. Later, she marries Wayne Hearne, a man of fine character, and they have a child. Stark accidentally happens upon a law defining the illegality of his divorce and blackmails June with accusations of bigamy. After Hearne learns of the situation and thrashes Stark, the matter is brought to court, but the Supreme Court decides in Stark's favor. In a moment of frenzy, Hearne tries to shoot Stark who, escaping the gunshot, falls in front of a passing automobile and is killed, leaving the Hearnes to continue their happy family life.
