Sonja wants to operate again despite being HIV positive. Reini's estranged sister Vronie has been hospitalized. Nel is facing a divorce from Jaap, who want to emigrate to the States. Paul van der Voort seeks to reinstate Jan van der Wouden, who is currently working as a waiter, at MCW.
- Alberts is concerned about Brouwer's integrity. Dick is worried about Reini's drinking. Jacob refuses to disclose the ingredients of the experimental medicine he used on Bobby.
- Astrid wants to stop her son's treatments and take him home. Tessa begins to treat a burn victim. Against all hope, Gerda Dekker awakens from her 8 month coma. Leo Koning opens a fitness center called 'Bubbles' and asks Linda Koning to manage it.
- Vronie insists that Reini takes over part of the family printing business. Paul offers to finance a job for Jan at MCW. Sonja's case against MCW is going to court: she demands to be reinstated as a surgeon, or to receive a million guilders. Homeless Truus keeps sneaking back into the hospital, until the nurses finally decide to give her an unpaid job.
- Jan might lose custody of his son Christiaan to his sister in law Miriam. Sonja's lawyer Bert Helenberg investigates the zero positive witness that his opponent Evertsen came up with. Astrid suspects her son's illness might have been caused by chemical waste.
- The nurses station is burgled during the night watch. Marijke Rodenburg, who has been carrying a child for her sister and brother in law, gives birth prematurely. But when the child turns out to be sickly, her sister, who has managed to get pregnant herself, has second thoughts about the baby. Theo Dekker refuses to give up on his comatose wife or even to leave her side, even though everyone else thinks she will never recover.
- Paul manages to convince Victor to hire Jan if he puts up the money. But during his first week back, Jan's wife Eva is hit by a car right in front of MCW. Astrid's son Bobby is diagnosed with leukemia.
- Astrid has taken her son home to give him an unauthorized treatment. Petra wants to divorce burn victim Jack because of his adulterous ways. Truus is being bothered at work by an old friend.

- A mother loses her son Bart in an accident and grows attached to another child who receives Bart's heart in a transplant. Annelies Rietschoten is being urged by her husband and child to stop working.
- Ingrid has just lost her close friend Hetty when she learns that Jan chooses for Astrid who's is pregnant by him. That night, both Jan and Astrid are shot, and Jan dies. The murder weapon turns out to belong to Eric.
- Reini is surprised to learn that Hetty, with whom she has been sharing her home, is a lesbian. Astrid brings in a young girl with many bruises. Both parents blame each other for beating the child.
- Jan is upset about all the blunders being made at MedCo. But he also starts to show feelings towards Astrid, which is exactly what Ingrid had been fearing. Liza begins her Television career presenting 'Rechten Op Antwoord'.
- Three people, including a pregnant woman, are hospitalized because of a gas leak at a local factory. After appearing on local television, Liza is offered a job presenting a medical programme. Dick is leaving for America and Hetty is moving out, just as Reini realizes she has feelings for both of them.
- Robin proposes to Nel and she accepts. But later that day, he loses her daughter Vera at a funfair. Ingrid's parents are concerned when she tells them she is pregnant. Roelant Brouwer is seriously ill and transferred to MCW.
- Jan becomes very suspicious when Eric diagnoses a patient with terminal cancer when just months before nothing could be found. Ingrid identifies herself with a patient suffering problems of the womb who might be a DES baby like herself.
- Joy is shocked to learn William Stevens is selling babies from foreign women to Dutch couples at MedCo. Anke meets a man who used to be a prisoner of the Japanese during World War II, just like her father.
- Ingrid has complications with her pregnancy and her parents appear to know why. Victor decides not to have Roelant operated on and takes him into his own home. The investigation of Vera's disappearance points to a known pedophile.

- When a heart patient dies thanks to William Steven's incompetence, Jan vows to bring down MedCo once and for all. But in private he is still cheating on Ingrid with Astrid. Reini helps a young mother deal with her drug addict boyfriend.
- Astrid witnesses a young track runner collapsing and soon discovers she has been using steroids. Victor is advised to take some time of following the death of his son Roelant. Reini implements a stop on admitting new patience because of the staff shortage. Nel confronts the last person who saw her daughter before her disappearance, Jan Liebrechts.
- A pregnant woman ends up in MCW after her father pushed her down a flight of stairs. Liza is immediately suspicious about the family relationship. Reini is surprised to find Lucy working for Eric at the grand opening of MedCo.
