- This film's story is an allegory using the wants of an old, aging car to symbolize the biblical teaching of God being the creator of all living things. A man has kept his 1939 Chevy in good working condition, it which is still a solid, dependable car. While out for a drive in the Chevy, the man comes across a parade, with one of the entrants a dignitary being chauffeured in the back seat of a new Cadillac. When he got home, the man was startled by the fact that the Chevy started talking to him, telling him that it now wanted to be a brand new Cadillac like the one in the parade. The car owner indulged the Chevy's requests to be more like a Cadillac, which included such things as using the same kind of car polish used on Cadillacs, and using the same type of oil as Cadillacs. Although happier, the Chevy was still not satisfied and demanded more and more difficult things to become closer to be a Cadillac, the owner always conceding to the Chevy's wants. Finally, he Chevy believed the only way it could become a Cadillac was to deal with the head of GM, who makes all the new Cadillacs. The head of GM indeed could indeed do so, but at a price of which the Chevy was unaware.
