- A horror movie star returns to his famous role after years in a mental institution. But the character seems to be committing murders independent of his will.
- A truck driver Charvát returned from prison six months ago. His colleagues know his past, but in front of his landlady and her 10-year-old son, Charvát comes across as a man of integrity and reliability. One weekend night, the man gives a lift to two female students who missed the last train. Unable to control his repressed desires, he rapes one of the girls and murders them both in a remote location. Their bodies are disposed of in a large dump. But the corpses are discovered the next day by an old forester, and the search is on.
- During an uprising in the Belgian Congo, a convent of nuns are besieged and the Reverend Mother is killed and Sister Maria is raped. Returning to Belgium, Sister Maria finds out to her horror that she is pregnant. Rejected by her family and her sister, she is told by the Vatican that she is supposed to either give the baby to the church and still be a nun or keep the baby and leave the order. This film follows her decision.
- The trenches of World War I provide for a captivating backdrop to the drama of Corporal Hoferik. In his devotion to the Habsburg Monarchy, he fanatically carries out his military orders, but he ultimately suffers the Empire's disfavor.
