- Dracula returns to the small Yorkshire coastal town of Whitby, bringing with him the war that rages between Heaven and Hell.
- The Picturehouse tells the story of The Regent Cinema in Redcar, North Yorkshire, the last remaining independent cinema in the Teesside region. Originally called 'The New Pavilion' when it opened ninety years ago, the theatre played host to a number of rising stars including the late great, Larry Grayson, whose catchphrase 'Shut that door' originated at this theatre. After its closure in the 60's, the building became the home to The Regent Cinema after it moved from its former building in Redcar High Street and until March 2018, was a thriving cinema loved by all those who visited it, including director Joe Wright. After closing for a brief time, The Regent Cinema was saved in 1990, by 20 year-old local businessman, Neil Bates, who at the time worked in the ice-cream parlour next door to the cinema. Over the next twenty-eight years, Neil, with the help of his family, refurbished the cinema, updating its seating, projection and sound systems, showing the latest blockbusters to the people of Redcar, who would queue for hours to see the latest films. During this time the cinema managed to fight off competition from three multiplexes, which opened in the Teesside area and is currently fighting a controversial decision made by the town's council to close the cinema in March 2018, citing health and safety purposes for its closure. However, weeks prior to the sudden closure, plans had been put forward for a new multiplex cinema on land close to the cinema and much of the town have protested at the closure and the multiplex proposals. This documentary tells the story of this well-loved cinema, by the people who have worked there and those who love it.
