The story revolves around how they meet an exceptionally talented but poor village boy Deepu and his mentor, an old gentleman fondly referred to by everyone as Bauji . Their friendship with Deepu turns out to be a learning experience for the city kids and they all also end up solving a dangerous puzzle in the village.
- Lalji Qalandarr revolves around the conflicts between traditions and modern society. It is a story set in rural Rajasthan about a traditional folk artist Dayaram bhopa. Though highly talented, Dayaram refuses to 'sell' his music just for the sake of money. Instead, he makes his ends meet by selling miniature musical instruments at local bus stand of his village. He has to face a lot of suffering and difficulties due to the deep-rooted feudal beliefs and his rigid adherence to obsolete traditions. He considers himself a royal musician and a servant only to the Thakur, who have settled abroad. This pride and ego cause further conflicts when it has to work with modern day event managers. Despite all the challenges, he does not give up hope and continues to fight all odds with support from his second wife Dhapudi, his educated but unemployed friend Prakash and another friend Pappu, the village barber. The story takes us through his small desires and ambitions and dreams for his son Ittefaq and his continuous struggles to fulfill them.
