Lietaer, economist and author, taught at the Universities of Leuven (Belgium) and Berkeley (California, USA) and is a successful fond manager who was named by Business Week in 1992 "the World's top currency trader". At the Belgian Central Bank, he was once responsible for preparing the introduction to the Euro. He wrote several books on monetary systems.
