- SOHO IS An intimate look at the future of Soho by musician Tim Arnold DIRECTED BY KEVIN GODLEY and TIM ARNOLD 'Soho Is' began life in 2016 as a 'talk-umentary' when Kevin Godley and Tim Arnold united with several well know lovers of Soho to talk candidly about the area and the ongoing concerns about the loss of performing arts spaces. But the resulting film fuses those interviews with footage captured and edited by Tim when he started the Save Soho campaign from his Frith Street bedsit, back in 2014 after the closure of Madame Jojo's. An underground recording artist with 3 generations of bona fide Soho family roots (Tim's mother Polly Perkins - ex Windmill Girl, his grandfather Dickie Arnold - actor manager for Paul Raymond), this is very much a Soho musician's journey. Tim Arnold's creative work to celebrate the village he grew up in, both as a recording artist and activist, sparked a mission to draw attention to Soho's role as a unique platform for performing artists. A platform that, for over half a century, has been a bridge between the underground and the mainstream. With Stephen Fry joining and supporting Tim in this mission, the pair became a walking talking example of the underground and the mainstream, working together, to highlight Soho's creative inclusivity. Through public appearances, demonstrations, and discussions with politicians and landowners, Tim and Stephen's work inspired a wave of public affection that reminded people just how valuable Soho is to all of us. Their work resulted in overturning the plans of both property owners and Transport for London. They reminded people how vital it is that any community supports individuality. Regardless of class, race, sexuality, social position or income. After 4 years of twists and turns, Kevin and Tim have now completed the film, with new music composed and performed by Tim throughout, including his 2015 BBC London album of the year, The Soho Hobo. FEATURED CAST Stephen Fry, Tim Arnold, Robert Elms, Jools Holland, Jo Corre, Marc Almond, June Brown, Paloma Faith, Terry Gilliam, Boris Johnson, Matt Everitt (BBC 6 Music),
