- The awards finalists and categories selection is based on a new voting system involving a panel of 6,000 "entertainment enthusiasts from across the country". Winners are chosen by visitors of the website PCAvote.com. In previous years a Gallup Poll has been conducted, which had given a scientifically more accurate reflection of the US people's choices.
- More than 21 million votes are casted online.
