- The festival takes place since 1998 and is a week-long event featuring films of the Southern persuasion that attracts filmmakers and fans from across the country. It is the only US independent film festival focusing on films relating to the American South. Works screened include films made in the South or by Southern filmmakers as well as films that deal with the Southern experience and themes that are particularly relevant to the South and Southerners.
